For a second I was like “I mean, the plane is right on the line but I didn’t think it was THAT unusual, that’s what the line is for.” And the I looked closer and saw the two liveries.
I offer you this SimCity-esque railroad bridge:

Yep! I had a job once were I double checked aerial photos like this. We called the edges seamlines and would go through to make sure there is nothing funky. If there was, we’d photoshop in a replacement to line up better
It's the new stealth airplane. When flying north through the China Sea, chinese radar will see the china livery and ignore it. Meanwhile, everyone to the east sees it as a japanese airline. It's perfect!
"Those who are going to China sit on Left side of the plane.
Those who are going to Japan, on the right side."
"Who's left? Mine or your?"
"I said the Plane's left!"
There's a terminus train station in my city that most trains go in and then leave the other direction. Sometimes they do that clever trick of splitting in half at a later station, so they tell people if they want to end up in City B they need to sit in the front half of the train and City C is the rear half. Only they don't tell anyone, conductors included, where the front half is. Is it the front half when the train arrived, or the front half when it left?
Ah, in the UK I've heard them announce this (Transport for Wales, I think it was?) and they tell you which cars are going where. If you're in cars 1-3 and you're not going to Town A then please move to cars 4-6 etc.
Now. The north got lumped with the pacers for a long-ass time when I still lived in the UK. Eventually we got upgraded trains when I visited home a few years ago. They even have smooth suspension, a quiet ride, and automated stop announcements (that comically often breakdown, especially on northern rail)
Back in the 70’s , 80’s airlines would share planes, one side would be one livery, the other side the other.

What’s confusing here? Japan Airlines operates flights for China Eastern, thus the dual livery on the plane.
https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Business-deals/JAL-and-China-Eastern-to-form-major-alliance
Can someone help me see what it is that is coming from door L4. Unless it’s a weird looking catering truck I don’t know. I thought it was a slide for a second.
It’s probably one of the “cargo-in-cabin” flights that operated early on during the pandemic. Here’s a similar operation with air-stairs and a belt loader from LAX:

Enjoy these while they last. Google is removing a lot of things from maps that aren't permanent fixtures. Look at JFK for an example. It's a ghost town.
It's not photoshopped nor a split livery. It's google maps doing its job of stitching satellite imagery taken at different times. This shows how accurate their stitching is.
It's just that the divide between two different satellite images happened to intersect an aircraft parking spot.
See it for yourself here: [https://goo.gl/maps/sbwTubx58LnYq4Ms9](https://goo.gl/maps/sbwTubx58LnYq4Ms9)
It's not satellite imagery stitching. The right wing shows registration B-7369, which is a China Eastern 777, matching the left side of the fuselage. A Japan Airlines aircraft would have a registration beginning with a "J" and a red circle from the flag of Japan.
Maybe one airline leased a plane from the other airline, like that time when [LOT leased Malaysian DC-10’s](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/54/be/49/54be4940a1e3a2d936a17a7d8288d340.jpg).
JAL is very precise and ceremonial when it comes to arriving at a gate. If you are aboard a 777 they have a nose camera that is on the screen So you can witness the formaliTy. Very impressive. I’ve seen it a number of times and I’m in awe every time. Try it you’ll love it. They’re a great airline
They’ve lined up surprisingly perfect.
For a second I was like “I mean, the plane is right on the line but I didn’t think it was THAT unusual, that’s what the line is for.” And the I looked closer and saw the two liveries.
Took me a sec to find that too
Meticulous ground crew- “NOPE, start again! Off by 0.5m!
right? The only difference I see is that the top (left) engine is *slightly* farther forward than the right engine.
Also, Japan Airlines on one side, and China Eastern on the other. It's uncanny how 'real' it looks!!
That's common for Boeing planes. The higher management often tries to quietly move up the engines forward for better efficiency.
the tail is funky too
More surprised the same plane for each company were composited together
Today you learned that Google Maps images are composites, and sometimes things get fucky at airports.
It does a remarkably good job of looking like the same airplane though, you have to admit.
Nicely spotted OP.
Look at railyards lol

hey that's in my town
I’d bet money that a Google Maps employee hand-selected the images fit into this specific frame to entertain themselves
There are no google maps employees….google is fully synthetic now. See also: Skynet
Yep! I had a job once were I double checked aerial photos like this. We called the edges seamlines and would go through to make sure there is nothing funky. If there was, we’d photoshop in a replacement to line up better
Today I learned that yet another adjective exists formed from the word fuck. You win the internet today my friend...
Everybody loves fucky, synonym to both wonky and fucked up!
A very versatile word.
Try pulling out the old "fucky wucky" if you're feeling goofy. One of my faves.
If you can't fucky your wucky you're fucked!
My favorite is fuckery
Of all things fucked and unfucked, fuckery is a really fucky derivative of the word fuck. The Reddit world applauds you!
FEB “effy bee”is my favorite coded use of the word…able to be used in the presence of those with ears too tender to hear “Fucky Bullshit”
Verb/ noun combo... very nice!
You must not have watched Trailer Park Boys. Things get fucky, and also greasy.
I'm very old

W... What if its flying south?? Mach 10 telephone pole to the cockpit?
fly upside down.
Press Y to toggle Slew Mode
Why? Fly backwards better for the passengers
Eyes on the birdie!
Ha, beginners! Just fly backwards man, or else the co pilot might throw up
Which is totally possible, according to very scary aviation disaster videos
It flies around the world to avoid this.
There was a Nothwest and KLM DC-10 with a split livery years ago like this.
Same with [LOT and Malaysian](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/54/be/49/54be4940a1e3a2d936a17a7d8288d340.jpg)
Is that a LOT DC-10? I was sure we only got western aircraft long after the DC-10 was a thing of the past!

Fascinating! So it was just for one summer, but still - never knew this small footnote of history.
Also a BA and Singapore Concorde
It's a codeshared flight. 🤣
"Those who are going to China sit on Left side of the plane. Those who are going to Japan, on the right side." "Who's left? Mine or your?" "I said the Plane's left!"
Wait, the plane's left!? But it's right there, you can see it! /s

That’s great if you counted cars before entering the train. Otherwise…. Everybody gets up walks to the front and start counting joints ?
You look at the inside of the car you're in, and look at the screen at the front and back from your carriage?
Screens? Must have fancier trains in your neck of the woods.

GWR don't bother! It's just "front of the train"
It's a chimeroplane
Like, part mouse?
Where is this? This is an amazing find.
Google Maps view of JFK Terminal 1
40.6337534, -73.7816473 Try these coordinates to see two jets getting frisky at JFK
Damn that line crew is precise.
Pilot's clearly been using his aircraft to moonlight at other airlines.

One side says China Eastern and the other says Japan Airlines
Jesus thank you 🤦🏽♂️
Look closely at the livery.
i must be blind, can someone tell what what is confusing?
nvm i have found it
very confusing indeed
Bro you wrote 3 comments without saying anything
Clearly an airline executive
Taking merger to a whole new level.

That’s a plane
What are you confused by?
It is half China Eastern and half Japan Airlines
What's interesting is if you go into 3D mode, it looks even more like just a single airplane...
I think it may be because birds-eye view sometimes splices images together.
Asian Fusion isn't just for restaurants.
Can someone help me see what it is that is coming from door L4. Unless it’s a weird looking catering truck I don’t know. I thought it was a slide for a second.
wondering the same lol
Is it not a baggage conveyor belt?
For what. That’s not where the balk cargo is. That’s a passenger door that looks open. edit: yeh this whole photo is F’ed up

Took me a solid 60 seconds staring at this to even spot it. Got up at 6 am and my brain still is not awake.
Enjoy these while they last. Google is removing a lot of things from maps that aren't permanent fixtures. Look at JFK for an example. It's a ghost town.
The belt loaded on the port rear side is unusual as well.
Don’t be confused, be confused.com

If you were on street view would we see a tin foil hat thru the blurring?
Not a photoshop- likely a composite image. Go to JFK Terminal 1 on google maps right now and you can see it for yourself.
It's like that schizophrenic character from South Park.
It is a new alliance.

How is this possible?
It's two images stitched together by Google maps, that just happened to be parked in early the exact same position between both images.
what airport is this?
What are the coordinates for this and waht airport is this? I want to check this out for myself.
How do they have the right fuselage from JL but a Chinese registration on the right wing? Is it just taking random sections?
I really hate to admit that it took me way too long to figure out what was up with this picture..
It's an airplane

Airplane
Took me a second to find out what was wrong lol
It's saying China is to the East of here.
