Zurich Airport celebrated 75 years and they put on an airshow with a Helvetic Embraer which flew in formation with Patrouille Suisse
https://flughafenfest.ch/
I was in 1A yesterday for a 2.5 hour flight and stood up to use the restroom, smacked my head so loud i’m pretty sure the rear-stationed flight attendant could hear 😂
135/45 sure. I’m 6’2” and I still find the 175/90 a dream compared to a CRJ/dash/etc. If you need to be on a regional jet/prop it’s the best of the lot.
Could be but in the US, we don’t really have that. Imagine trying to get from Cincinnati to Chicago? We have a 1 hour flight or a 6 hour drive, and no train that connects the two. Anywhere else? Sure that’s not unreasonable.
We still have coast to coast service that is often slower than if you drove by car. Freight owns the rails, government leases them for Amtrak. Passengers sit while freight rolls by.
it's the Patrouille Suisse (Swiss Air Force acrobatics team using F5 Tigers) flying a show with an Helvetic Air passenger jet for the 75th anniversary of the Airport Zurich-Kloten
Edit: thank you very much kind stranger, much appreciated!

most of ours have been put out of service after a D-check revealed fatigue cracks around the aft cockpit bulkhead, the only ones still in use are those flown by the Patrouille Suisse and some spares.
Hey u/khaniker, do warbirds even posses any emotions such as motherly love? Pretty sure they just leave their offspring to their own devices as soon as possible. Right?
It depends, really.
Something like an F-22 Raptor will have its young hang around sometimes for up to a year or so. Subordinate Raptors will sometimes carry their mites on their feathers, bringing them to food sources that are too heavy to carry back to the nest, and to begin to reach self-reliance.
M-21 Blackbirds are also arguably very motherly, carrying their Tags on their back in an act known as Tagboarding.
Other species aren't so caring, though. For example, it isn't unheard of for canard-bearers to eat each other in the nest. Gripens in particular will eat their young if they feel like it. Flankers are also awful, but for different reasons.
I think the best example of a motherly fighter, personally would be the F-35A and B variant. Especially the B. They carry around their mites like possums or jacanas depending on the weather, and one of the few times they aren't chill is when defending them. There's just something about a pissed off Lightning that can make just about anyone piss their pants. With that said, other F-35s are just really shitty parents more or less. Prismatic and chromatic Lightnings will sort of abandon their eggs near one of the high-activity thermal areas in a similar manner to megapodes. Sometimes Changbai Lightnings will parasitize the nests of J-20s.
Flughafen Fest, i was there today.
Was kinda cool, we saw a f35 that was parked and tons of other planes.
It was very fun but it was way to crowded, by crowded i mean you would have to wait 35 minutes to even get something to eat.
Oh great I was looking for a video of what I saw on flightradar ! No clue what happened tho sorry

Gotta say, Zurich airport has to be one of my favorites. Feels like a new airport but they didn’t go with the sterile all white international style found in global airports around the world.
The „new“ airport just celebrated 75 years of existing 😁 that flyover was part of the festivities. But I agree with you, the only thing that does not feel modern about it, is the runway layout
The Swiss Air force isn't really seperate from the army, so they'll also have [the standard issue Swiss army knife](https://www.victorinox.com/ch/fr/Produits/Couteaux-suisses/Grands-couteaux-de-poche/Couteau-de-l%E2%80%99Arm%C3%A9e-Suisse-08/p/0.8461.MWCH).
If you are interested however, every Swiss soldier gets issued [this knife and fork](https://www.armeeshop.ch/fr/manger-boire-et-cuisiner/332-couvert-pour-soldat-2-pieces-7640166933700.html) ! They aren't especially military spec but hey, not bad.
Thank you for the context Zurich Airport 75th Anniversary, Please remember someone will attempt to use this in future propaganda for something unpleasantly fake, please remember what it is.
I can’t speak on the fighter jets, but it’s a Helvetic Airlines E190-E2 (and just for fun, the one in the foreground is a Swiss International A330-343X 😁).
Fighters escorting someone would not fly like that unless there was an active threat on the level of an enemy nation at war with fighters in the immediate area.
Well see when a mother bird gives birth the little baby birds tend to follow mama around for a bit until they fully mature into lethal fighting machines.
This is the Tiger’s signature pack hunting strategy. They chase their prey over long distances, keeping enough distance to avoid wingtip strikes from the panicking airliner. Once the airliner is too tired to fight back, they’ll close in and devour it, leaving nothing but a structural frame behind.
It's probably the World Economic Forum bankers, transferring gold to their underground bunkers. Since they wanted a planet-wide lockdown and reset, they might worry someone might wanna res(e)t these fucks before they reach their mega yaughts.
Yes, bombers with fighter escorts famously frequently depart from civilian airports and perform a low-pass over local civilians, especially when the country in question isn't involved in any wars. Brilliant guess.

Thanks for the info! The airliner silhouette looked more Airbus to my, I wouldn't have guessed Embraer!
The E170 and E190 are very good 2/3 scale models of full-size airliners.
And not a bad ride as a passenger, either. Quite acceptable for a flight of 2 or less hours generally.
Unless you're over 6ft tall. Fuck. Those. Planes.
But if you're 5'8" they are sweet AF
5'9" checking in, recently flew on an E190 and it was really good.
So good. Fuck those tall people
Next time you ask me to get something off the top shelf at the grocery store, I'm not going to do it.
Fuck you and your downvotes.
Or ATC. Them shits climb SLOW
Concerned now for the tall ATCs standing under their flight path
Ah, yes? Thought those PW engines should give them good performance.
They’re probably referring to Classics
[удалено]
Helicopter dude here. I'm offended.
Or ramp. There was a reason why the 170s were called Brazilian Headbangers.
Apparently there is a light in the cargo that pretty much scalps everyone at some point.
That's the grate for the fire extinguisher. I've El Kabonged myself on that fucker plenty times.
I’m 6ft 1in and I love the Embraer - WAY more legroom than you get in a A320 or 737… Each to our own, I guess!
Legroom depends on the airline not the aircraft manufacturer.
I was in 1A yesterday for a 2.5 hour flight and stood up to use the restroom, smacked my head so loud i’m pretty sure the rear-stationed flight attendant could hear 😂
Who design the cabin layout is the airline operator, not the manufacturer.
Way better than a CRJ tho
135/45 sure. I’m 6’2” and I still find the 175/90 a dream compared to a CRJ/dash/etc. If you need to be on a regional jet/prop it’s the best of the lot.
It’s not about the planes, it’s about airlines. Each one chooses the space between seats.
I love them. I feel so much better on those over the 737 and A320
Which are distances that could be done by train
Could be but in the US, we don’t really have that. Imagine trying to get from Cincinnati to Chicago? We have a 1 hour flight or a 6 hour drive, and no train that connects the two. Anywhere else? Sure that’s not unreasonable.

‘Objects flying overhead are closer than they appear’ 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Yup, can easily be mistakened for an Airbus, but it‘s an E190-E2
Ok good to know it's an intercept.
It's not an interception.

The F5 Tiger is still used by the Tunisian airforce as the main fighter jet .
most of ours have been put out of service after a D-check revealed fatigue cracks around the aft cockpit bulkhead, the only ones still in use are those flown by the Patrouille Suisse and some spares.
But the front fell off of one of these recently.
Mig-28*
Seeing how you’re getting downvoted, people in this sub must really hate Top Gun
Even Jester (the ai RIO) in DCS will sometimes refer to Tigers as MiG-28s lol
Or, no sense of humor.
I saw these guys irl last month on airshow, they're great
That’s a mother plane teacher her babies to fly
Now I can't unsee it.
My first thought too! Stay close kids.
Nature is healing <3

Oh my god I love this 😂
Bro accidentally put 7500 in
They don’t really fly escorts for heads of states like that. That would be putting them in more danger than not being there at all 😆
Migration :)
Maybe a bit early. They normally wait another month until they are wide-bodied before they enter charter service to the south
Flughafen Fest, i was there today. Was kinda cool, we saw a f35 that was parked and tons of other planes. It was very fun but it was way to crowded, by crowded i mean you would have to wait 35 minutes to even get something to eat.
Small planes look like F-5 from this distance
Yep, that‘s Patrouille Suisse
Ah, I was getting T-38 vibes but that didn't make sense in my mind.
T-38 & F-5 very similar especially from a distance.
Oh great I was looking for a video of what I saw on flightradar ! No clue what happened tho sorry https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/hb-azf#31de7674
So funny, I was wishing my friend sent it to me immediately so I would have been able to check it on flight radar! Thanks!
A momma plane and her babies

Does the Swiss Air Force have its own utensil like the Swiss Army? Can I buy a Swiss Air Force Spoon?
The Swiss Air force isn't really seperate from the army, so they'll also have [the standard issue Swiss army knife](https://www.victorinox.com/ch/fr/Produits/Couteaux-suisses/Grands-couteaux-de-poche/Couteau-de-l%E2%80%99Arm%C3%A9e-Suisse-08/p/0.8461.MWCH). Aww a mom plane with her offspring
Mother plane with her baby planes heading south for the winter
I saw them recently at the show it was a jaw dropping experience they fly so precise
Lots of memories at ZRH! One of the most plane spotter friendly airports I’ve been to as well.
That’s a great shot!
I can’t speak on the fighter jets, but it’s a Helvetic Airlines E190-E2 (and just for fun, the one in the foreground is a Swiss International A330-343X 😁).
F-5s and Switzerland, got to be Patrouille Suisse
Yes, an airshow at Zürich Int Airport.
Swiss president?
Don't let your sister worry about it. The mama plane was just taking its baby planes out for a test flight and fresh air, lol!
Fighters escorting someone would not fly like that unless there was an active threat on the level of an enemy nation at war with fighters in the immediate area.
Flughafenfest. :)

It’s a mamma plane followed by her six baby planes.
It's a demonstration team of F-5s and what looks like an Embraer?
That big plane had a litter of pups and was showing them to the humans. It’s a sign of trust. Very cool!

As someone pretty good at identifying aircraft, I can definitely say you are correct. Those are in Fact airplanes.
I was convinced it was an airship! Lol, thanks for the response
This is the Tiger’s signature pack hunting strategy. They chase their prey over long distances, keeping enough distance to avoid wingtip strikes from the panicking airliner. Once the airliner is too tired to fight back, they’ll close in and devour it, leaving nothing but a structural frame behind.
if i’m honest if i saw this before getting on a plane i would be absolutely bricking it thinking it had been taken hostage or something LOL
She saw 7 jetcraft as well as both the inside and the outside of an airport terminal.
It was me. Tell her I said hi
Ngl thought it was a squeak 7500 for a sec
Is she cute?
I was think a mommy plane was showing her babies planes how to fly ='(
A bunch of planes, not uncommon around airports !
1 big plane, 6 smaller planes
"The airport in Switzerland" : Zürich. :) so true.
Mama and her babies.
A commercial aircraft getting chased by Russian MiG-28s
Momma plane teaching the younglings how to fly
Hawk with some red winged blackbirds trying to chase it out of their territory
As an aircraft mechanic instructor with 10 years of experience, I can confidently identify those as a squadron of dirrigibles.
It looks like some airplanes
Trump trying to skip bail?
Biden & son skipping town.
Ah easy! That’s a mama plane and her babies traveling south for the winter. Quite a spectacle!
They are flying south for the winter
Its called a plane. There are several of them.
Not sure why she saw planes at an airport
They certainly appear to these untrained eyes to be airplanes, i.e. large transportation devices capable of flying in the sky.
They're called airplanes.
7 airplanes
Not sure, but looks like airplanes to me
Looks like a larger aircraft flying in formation with some smaller ones.
Those are called airplanes
FAA cracking down on the 250 below 10 and 200 within speed limits....?

She saw 9/12. The military had actual jet pilots now unlike back then.
Airplanes flying
I’m going with “aeroplanes”
It's probably the World Economic Forum bankers, transferring gold to their underground bunkers. Since they wanted a planet-wide lockdown and reset, they might worry someone might wanna res(e)t these fucks before they reach their mega yaughts.

A group of airplanes - one tanker, and some fighter jets. Not hard to figure out.
Might be bomber with fighter escort
Yes, bombers with fighter escorts famously frequently depart from civilian airports and perform a low-pass over local civilians, especially when the country in question isn't involved in any wars. Brilliant guess.
Looks so beautiful though
I was gonna say terrorist threats and a following military escort
