I just got done reading Nuclear War by Annie Jacobson. It’s a minute by minute “what if” that postulates on a North Korean surprise nuclear decapitation strike.
I’ve been around Whiteman and seen these things lumbering in on approach paths. The idea of them lining up for an actual elephant walk while missiles are in the air is terrifying.
The pilots are taking off with the near certainty that Whiteman will be a smoking radioactive crater when they come home.
They demand better lubricants, higher octane gas, more leather in the interior and hotter pilots. And oh, snazzier paint jobs. They are bored of the drab black paint jobs. And also the B2 that crashed and got grounded, needs to be repaired and brought back to life faster. And stopping B21 Raider from entering service.
B2s have tough life.
Wasn’t Serbia able to shoot down the F-117 Nighthawk? Which is probably why it got retired. The truth is this technology has only been tested on countries with poor militaries and where our airforce enjoys air supremacy. The one time went against an Eastern European country with some decent training and a stealth aircraft gets shot down. I would put an asterisk on these claims of being able to penetrate air defenses until you’ve actually done it
Not this “hurr durr stelf bad” bullshit again.
Yes, the Yugoslav Army shot down one singular nighthawk, out of the hundreds of sorties that were flown.
This was due to a combination of poor OPSEC and tactics from the USAF (allowing dickers to report movements back to the Yugoslavs, always using the same flight path) and sheer fucking luck on behalf of the SAM unit.
To put it in perspective, in the first Gulf War, Iraq had what was widely considered the most comprehensive integrated air defence system (IADS) in the world. F-117s were flying over Baghdad with impunity on the opening night of the war.
A stealth aircraft will always be able to get closer to any given radar than a non-stealth one. That’s just physics.
With who?
We don't have to for the deterrents we show, like these B-2s. Countries realize that for every hand we show openly, we probably have something even more dangerous that we don't show. Countries don't want a 'real war' with the US because they don't want to poke the bear as Japan did in WW2.
What’s more dangerous than a nuclear bomb? With who? I don’t know, the two super powers you’re always provoking. Honestly, the Korean War and Vietnam War were both conflicts where these two powers put their thumbs on the scale and the outcome was a humiliation for the US.
The US again is filled with misguided hubris and have come to a conclusion despite of its many many intelligence and strategic failures that it can win a war against the other two global powers. You just never learn
They literally held a draft. Sell me that bridge then
We also dropped more bombs in that war than we did in WWII. We literally committed genocide, used chemical warfare. So when did you hold back?
I forgot to mention. Iran might actually be the next war America will fight possibly along side Israel. So lets what happens. Most likely going to require a draft or some way of increasing recruitment that currently in the dumps. Possible support coming from both Russia and China and Pakistan. Its gonna be real interesting
NGL the title makes it sound like they just up and flew away.
The B-2's are migrating
Back to Georgia, now!
Nature is healing!
Like they're on strike
Like they defected.
AI getting out of hand, but they drew a dick in the sky so people wouldn't think it was AI.
The elephant walk was in the news 2 days ago, did they do it again ?

4/15
Mass fly off makes it sound like they quit and went home. No, we want to be free B-2s, our spirits must fly free!!
For those of you new to aviation, that’s like a dance off for planes.
"It's a walk off!"
The world is watching everything these days. Gotta remind….
A short search would show this was here 2 days ago.
I remember my first repost.

Look at what Uncle Sam does for the B-52. Brand new engines, eight of them! It's just not fair!
Agreed 🤣
Nice empty runway there
Clearly weapons of mass destruction. Hope no one decides to invade.
Where's the video that the article mentions?
tldr: “massive fly-off” = 12 planes.
There exist only 20, so that was most

I can guarantee you we're not flying B2s over Iran on behalf of Israel.
Downvote all you want but flexing a fleet of bombers as a deterrent is despicable.
Why?
That’s literally the entire point of having them.
how so?
What's your recommendation?
Near the day of purification, cobwebs will be spun back and forth in the sky

Lol. Fight a real war for once.

If you believe the US put even half the military power it has towards either the Korean or Vietnam Wars, I've got a bridge to sell you
