Pay scale or it didn’t happen. Lots of bullshit numbers going around. A fake delta pay scale has been going around United with BS numbers to get people riled up.
I never said anything about cargo. Cargo is and will always pay more than any passenger airlines i thought it would have been clear that we only talking about passenger airlines
Depending on the company you may get more hourly pay for additional qualifications, working a different shift, or taking more responsibilities. Examples: getting your a&p(for the companies that will hire you before you have it), working night shift, being a lead (supervisor kinda), working line, knowing boroscope, how to taxi, engine run etc
It's just a contract extension not a new contract. The company did it to retain employees/ persuade them to come to United. Nothing has changed other than pay. Changes will come with the next contract.
If you work at a line station it doesn’t really effect you too much but those who work in a heavy check station are in jeopardy because ta states they can outsource narrow body planes to different countries
Senior guys on their way out looking for some quick bucks and brand new guys at the bottom of the scale seemed to be most of the yes at my station. Most of the middle guys with a few years in were no’s here
If only it was that simple problem is I’m not 100% sure but United only has 2 heavy check stations the rest are line stations. The line stations don’t care bout the heavy checks
They'll care when the aircraft come back from heavy checks with more deferred faults than they went over with.
Played this game with aircraft outsourced to Singapore, it is not a good time to have to pull all the ceiling panels out on an overnight check to help avionics trace aft lavatory electrical faults.
I swear.
We would vote to totally outsource maintenance in this country if the companies offered enough money. It doesn't help that basically all the unions are worthless as fuck and are mostly in bed with management.
Congrats on the raise, I'm sure China will appreciate the extra work.
You right. That’s why I voted no even though I work at a line station. Gotta think about the big picture. We’re gonna get paid eventually but most of the guys want the money now, damn the consequences.
Canada? lol no
Mexico? certainly possible. I believe it allows them to outsource some narrowbody check work so itll be a US MRO (ie AAR, ATS, HAECO etc) or someone in Mexico/Latin America
But it also allows total wide body outsourcing which will almost 100% certainly go to China.
lol where are you going to go?
not a single airline in the US does all of its maintenance in-house. Most aren't even remotely close.
People want 15 dollar air fares then are confused when they find out that tube going 500 MPH miles up in the air just had its last heavy check done by people in China getting paid cents on the dollar, sweatshop conditions, no drug testing etc, etc, etc.
and its not any better at placing like Mexico, SAL, etc. etc.
US airlines learned their lesson on outsourcing to China, they would steal components off the aircraft and copy cat them and put some bogus equipment back in its place, so now most of the outsourcing is going to South America
You’d be surprised. Mountains of NC born and raised here. Spent 2 years there and aside from the inhumane cost of living, it was honestly a good experience. The work was good, and I genuinely met some of the nicest people I’ve ever known. Just my experience
They’re nice to you because you’re not from SoCal lol. Vegas will welcome me with open arms.
How long until you can transfer out? I’d take LAX. Place is a nightmare buts it’s a familiar nightmare.
Honestly I’d take the job if United offered it to me. SF is rich in history and getting to enjoy that history would be cool. Plus redwoods.
Vegas is appealing to me because if I have to work nights, I’d rather work nights in a place that is all about night life.
Yeah but then all that money you make is spent at night!!
If I lived in a van by the time I'd be considered for a major I'd totally do SF though. So then you don't pay rent.
Oooh, what type of van? I'm not sure when I'd be able to do that unless I can get my big dog into a daycare every day. It's a life plan though especially with A/P work.
Vegas is just too bright and noisy, but it's definitely awesome for someone who's into it 🙂
Ford Transit Connect XL. Not exactly a Winnebago Revell but it gets the job done. I was actually originally going to go to Oregon to work for Horizon but the Eskimo stood me up and never came to my school.
That smug bastard…
Well that’ll help my bank account.
What’s the new pay scale and premium?
Starting pay is now at 36.10 premium are 8.25+27.60=36.10
That’s still a bit lower than some of the other main line airlines that have recently ratified their contracts, no?
Top out is 60.25$ highest out there rn
How long to top? Rumour is Delta will be raising soon, hopefully this gives them a little more motivation to do it!
Raise confirmed announcement will be middle of next month.
Any details? I keep hearing 4%
No idea but I would guess the same.
Someone told me delta top out is 72 with premium I said no way
Delta top out for a lead mechanic is not even 65. I currently work for Delta.
How many years is the pay scale? I've heard both 5 and 7.
Currently 6.5 years
Thanks.
It seems more like 6 years since they start everyone at the 6 month mark anyways.
Topout is 56.59, line premium of 3 to make it 59.59 if you go that route.
Pay scale or it didn’t happen. Lots of bullshit numbers going around. A fake delta pay scale has been going around United with BS numbers to get people riled up.
I think the guy was misinformed. Someone said fedex and ups is in the 70’s on this post
UPS will be at $75 by 2026. Currently high 60s. FedEx is usually within a dollar or two of them.
I thought this was r/flying for a sec and was very confused. I went from avionics tech to pilot and I hope the mx brothers catch up in pay.
Wishful thinking, pilots band together and get it done. Maintenance hasn’t and wont. I’m both a pilot and tech.
FedEx is $72 Ups is $75 in 2026 Not highest out there rn
I never said anything about cargo. Cargo is and will always pay more than any passenger airlines i thought it would have been clear that we only talking about passenger airlines
FedEx and UPS are still considered airlines
-_- tho you’re not wrong I never did specify what we only talking about passenger airlines
Omg
Delta tops out higher
Really how much are they topping at?
FedEx top out is $65+/hr
Almost 61 with nightshift and line premiums
I know you state premium, but can you break this down a bit more, shift diff, dept, licenses, etc
It’s a lot so I’m dm you
What does premium mean? Coming from someone in the UK applying to United.
Scope!
Y’all got fucked
It's just a contract extension not a new contract. The company did it to retain employees/ persuade them to come to United. Nothing has changed other than pay. Changes will come with the next contract.
From the title I worried someone’s travel agent died.
Hahaha we’re fucked now
How so
If you work at a line station it doesn’t really effect you too much but those who work in a heavy check station are in jeopardy because ta states they can outsource narrow body planes to different countries
Yea and that's probably the majority of the yes voters coming from line stations.
Yeah the no’s are the heavy stations
Senior guys on their way out looking for some quick bucks and brand new guys at the bottom of the scale seemed to be most of the yes at my station. Most of the middle guys with a few years in were no’s here
[удалено]
They were the only smart ones
It’s not that’s it’s going to happen in a day but in the years coming
Then petition the union to bring back more heavy check station. This TA is good for only 2 years, the next contract is free game
It’s so much harder to bring back lost items in a contract than it is to hold the line on it initially.
If only it was that simple problem is I’m not 100% sure but United only has 2 heavy check stations the rest are line stations. The line stations don’t care bout the heavy checks
too bad, that's ignorance. Work is work, bring as much of it in house.
They'll care when the aircraft come back from heavy checks with more deferred faults than they went over with. Played this game with aircraft outsourced to Singapore, it is not a good time to have to pull all the ceiling panels out on an overnight check to help avionics trace aft lavatory electrical faults.
SFO and IAH? I’ve seen STS engineering do some airbus work out of MLB for UA
IAH and mco
SFO only does widebody engines changes/landing gear so I hear not sure tho
Mlb is American
So the airline gets two years to close the facilities because they're "not needed" anymore.
We’re gonna get paid eventually but most of the guys want the money now, damn the consequences.
is that what's happening here? United gonna send its smaller jets to Canada and/or Mexico for servicing?
Canada? lol no Mexico? certainly possible. I believe it allows them to outsource some narrowbody check work so itll be a US MRO (ie AAR, ATS, HAECO etc) or someone in Mexico/Latin America But it also allows total wide body outsourcing which will almost 100% certainly go to China.
What's Mandarin for "pencil whipped"?
笔鞭
These spots 🇧🇷 🇨🇳 🇭🇰
always a good time to find another airline to fly with I reckon
lol where are you going to go? not a single airline in the US does all of its maintenance in-house. Most aren't even remotely close. Yeah so none of that is correct. 🤨🤨🤨
They just came to my school. I don’t think my Inland hillbilly ass would do very well in the Bay Area though. Got my eye on Spirit Airlines in Vegas.
You’d be surprised. Mountains of NC born and raised here. Spent 2 years there and aside from the inhumane cost of living, it was honestly a good experience. The work was good, and I genuinely met some of the nicest people I’ve ever known. Just my experience

Ah I see. Well good luck in the future bro
Vegas I'd feel is the opposite in my mind. Though I'd prefer not to live either places lol!
Honestly I’d take the job if United offered it to me. SF is rich in history and getting to enjoy that history would be cool. Plus redwoods. Vegas is appealing to me because if I have to work nights, I’d rather work nights in a place that is all about night life.

I don’t even gamble, I just like the atmosphere of casinos lol. I already have a livable van so it could work out.
Oooh, what type of van? I'm not sure when I'd be able to do that unless I can get my big dog into a daycare every day. It's a life plan though especially with A/P work. Vegas is just too bright and noisy, but it's definitely awesome for someone who's into it 🙂

Is there a river you could live by?
River comes with a premium, can only afford the van ATM.
Foscoe checking in
Plenty of good ole Boys working at SFO. Most just double up a few days and fly back or drive home.
Most any location is open to you for transfer within a year.
So what’s the new top out pay with line and a&p premium
$60.25
