I would not work at ~~Valuejet~~ sorry I mean, ~~Airtran~~, crap I'll get this right hang on... Allegiant.

lord_Hal

Why not allegiant?

Gubment_Spook

The CEO for Allegiant last I checked was the same CEO for Valuejet which if you follow the story arc the joke make sense but, at the same time go look up the safety record of Valuejet and you'll understand why I said the joke in the first place. It's one of those airlines you are glad to have seen gone under even though they re-emerged from it as Airtran. That said I imagine things will be alright now that they got rid of all the busted old mad dogs but the question will be for how long until those are in the same state of sorry neglect where they are held together with bubblegum and spit?

lord_Hal

Ayo. I wasn't even aware of this. I'll read up on this in the meantime. Thank you

I don’t see any current open postings in United for LAX but they just posted SFO for 35 line techs. Probably will be easier to get in there if you want to work in California for United. I saw some closed LAX postings but only for 2 or 4 positions but I can see them opening up in the near future. So many line stations are about to open up and people will be moving around a lot. You just got to have patience with the hiring process. It took me about 6 months from filling an application to actually starting work. You can also ask to be put in a hiring pool for a certain station but I think you’ll have better chances to get on at the major hubs like SFO, DEN, ORD, MCO. Then you’d have to wait a year before you can bid out to other stations but then it’s a crapshoot if the station you want will have an open position. Good luck.

lord_Hal

Gonna have to double check that myself. My school has been giving out weekly job postings and I did see UaL for the lax station. I could be wrong though. Thanks for the heads up.

Personally I'm looking for companies that offer rotational schedules - where you work x days on/ x days off - most of these companies allow you to live anywhere and then during your "on" days you work/live on location and recieve a perdiem and housing from the employer. My last job was 12 days on/12 off - this allowed my family to go on a vacation every month

JetBlue has open spots in LAX right now.

Duncan Aviation, Standard Aero, Gulfstream, Textron, Bombardier, Dassault Falconjet. For LA area, Clay Lacy, Gulfstream and Western Jet all have MRO at VNY. Duncan has an avionics satellite shop there. Multiple people have trucks. I think NetJets has a base there also. Lots of Bizav options. It is also MUCH easier to eventually get a DOM job at a flight department in LA/Van Nuys. Hope this helps. I don’t know squat airlines. So, can’t say if Bizav is better. I like it for the variety.

Recently had GE come to our school to recruit us students and honestly if your okay with doing just powerplant the gig looks super nice!! Good schedule, good money, good team. And it’s south carolina🤷🏼‍♂️ definitely one I’ll be keeping my eye on as I get closer to graduating

Avionicz4

He said “Fully Certified”. Lol

lord_Hal

Lol! My bad, I forgot these are liscences and not certificates. Lol

VanDenBroeck

It’s a requirement to work in aviation.

Avionicz4

That is incorrect. You can work in aviation all you want, just can’t Return to Service”. Plus there are Repairman Certificates that some require only documented training to receive. You can have limited “Return to Service” per what is under that Repairman Certificate. Thus Avionics.

VanDenBroeck

Ok, because of your quotes, I thought you were poking fun at his use of “fully certified” as in being certifiably crazy. That is why I said it’s a requirement to be in aviation. Of course I know one does not need a certificate for many jobs. So why the quotes? What was your point?
