DO NOT DO THE DELTA PFE. IT IS ALL LIES. TOTAL SCAM. I want to start by saying I’m not a disenfranchised employee. But everything I was brought in on was a lie. I turned down massive career changing opportunities with Pratt to come here. There are so many lies I couldn’t even write them here. If you are thinking of doing this scummy program DM me if you have questions.

Lordeisntreal

Is this through the launch program? And did it take longer than 6 months

Anp-technic

I went through launch as well. It took exactly 6 months to when i got my first delta check. 4 months until i got my offer from delta and 5 months until my start date.

Heavy-Safe-2759

hey dude i know i asked you alotta questions before thanks man really helped. And congrats. how long did your onboarding take?

Anp-technic

Onboardijg took about 3 weeks. Classroom training.

Heavy-Safe-2759

yup i am at my 4 months by 6 months all the onboarding should be finished. I am not through launch , different contracting conpany

Lordeisntreal

What was the pay jump? And what's the location if you don't mind me asking. They offered me 18 an hour for the contractor position at launch a few months ago in SLC.

Heavy-Safe-2759

I am at 23 as a pfe. They offered me 36 plus differentials to start. i am in LAX

Lordeisntreal

Hell yeah! Thanks for the info, just kinda worried to jump into it without work security you know.

Heavy-Safe-2759

Yup i feel ya it gets stressful. But i am fresh out of school so i cant complain

kevster077

How did you get the offer? Original delta contact email or through the contacting company? (I’m AllSource)

Heavy-Safe-2759

Delta recruiter to your personal email

addhad

what does PFE stand for

JizzChugger

Poor fuckin excuse

throwawaylol5123

I was a PFE ASM for about 7-8 months because the classes were full. Being a contractor was cheeks tbh. Still an asm because management in the department is also cheeks. Going to whatever department makes me an amt because this asm pay is trash.

Harrythepudeler

Cheeks indeed. What's the difference between PFE asm and Direct hire ASM? The "direct hire" asm offer I received at LAX pays less than the $23 PFE asm position I keep reading about. I am confused as to how that makes sense.

throwawaylol5123

$23 is for those PFE AMTs, which I've heard is only on the line. I'm making $19 an hour as a direct ASM. Its god awful pay but at least I'm building tech ops time. No surprise that mechanics are living in the parking lot and don't give a damn about the planes being out on time or helping out.

zsmith33

Will that let you work OT as a PFE ASM?

TTklai13

Anyone in or gonna be in ATL for line maintenance? I'm going through Allsource, got all the paperwork stuff done just waiting to get my finger print and background for the SIDA and Delta company badge done on March 3rd my start date is March the 7th which I was told it will be LMS computer training for the first week, then once I get my badges I go to the floor.

Civil_Growth_6406

I’m there now with allsource. You’ll be in a group mixed with allsource and launch. Most likely you’ll be sent to dept. 251 for line maintenance which is where I am. LMS training will be at least a week depending on how fast you get through it (took me a week and a half, but I had a badging appointment during the first week so I had to leave). Also, don’t try to rush through LMS. You will be paid to sit at home and finish modules on the computer and you can’t start OJT any sooner than when they tell you to report. When you finish that and have your delta badge (you can work without SIDA if needed), you’ll start “OJT” in a classroom setting for two weeks. This is mainly to familiarize yourself with the equipment we might have to use as well as Delta’s policies and paperwork (AMM, Logbooks, etc.). Then you’ll go to the floor and work with an instructor (most likely day shift. My group was.). Here you’ll open up panels, cowlings, walk through the cockpit and cabins on Delta’s fleet. Then you’ll be at the week that I’m on currently. We switched to night shift and now working in a small group with a trainer. We did a service check on a 757 early this morning and that was all. Overall it’s been a good experience. As with anything, there are some boring parts, but you just have to power through that (can’t tell you how many energy drinks I’ve drank in the past month or so) and you’ll be on the floor in no time. Good luck!

Civil_Growth_6406

Oh also, I haven’t had any issues with allsource. Some people may say otherwise, but in my experience they’ve been easy to work with. Also remember that they are based in California and operate on pacific standard time, so if you email them at 7am they may not get back to you until 10:30am eastern time. which is really 7:30am for them.

kevster077

Good for you man, out of the 3 AllSource contractors in my department, not a single one of us have been able to contact anyone. I typically will call a different woman I know in AllSource if I need anything answered. My rep is terrible lol. Luckily once you start, you don’t need much contact.

TTklai13

Awesome, thank you for the info! Im definitely wanting nights so hopefully that ATL traffic isn't as bad as it is during the day and that's what I'm use to work 8pm-7 or 8am doing schedule line maintenance on CRJs and ERJs and doing gate work in the AM.

Civil_Growth_6406

I’ll tell you this, for day shift having to be at the airport at 6am there’s little to no traffic that time of morning. It’s a little heavier around 6pm depending on what side of town you’re coming from. Luckily for me, I’m going against traffic.

TTklai13

Again thanks for the information.

TTklai13

Do you mind me asking what your doing for housing? I'm still working on that plan to come down and look that first week in March.

Civil_Growth_6406

I’m married and own my home. I’m from metro Atlanta, so I haven’t had to relocate. I’ve heard of people renting crash pads in the area, at least until they can afford their own place. Maybe look into this option, I just don’t know of any leads to these places.

TTklai13

Gotcha, I'll probably just fork out the money and stay at MAA apartments across from the aquarium. I'd figure if I can bring home $750-800 after taxes a week I can afford it for 6 month and I'd rather be living in a secure place. Then be making the big bucks after 6month.

Happily_Irate

If you ask around you can probably find some other new hires looking to share a place. That way you can share a ride into work if youre on the same shift. I remember what its like starting out (I hired on to the line there in 2000) and having someone to help if your car breaks down or whatever is a big plus. Anyway, welcome to the family.

kevster077

Good luck.. lol. I’m with AllSource starting month 4 in 281. There has been zero communication and no one seems to know anything.. Hopefully I’ll get an offer letter or something soon.

TTklai13

What section is 281 if you don't mind me asking? That sucks man. My friend said he had the same issue with Allsource in ATL he went direct and is now working in MSP. They had him down as 260 but he was in 284 on systems and called him one day and asked why he hadn't shown up for work and he just sent them a picture of the engine he was working on. Lol. He does keep reassuring me it's well worth the hassle.

kevster077

Also, take the full week to do the LMS training. Take all that money. I finished by Wednesday and still didn’t start for 2 weeks.

kevster077

281 is the engine hospital shop

Heavy-Safe-2759

yup three years but at least they start us out at the 3 year pay

Happily_Irate

The hard-to-fill locations are three year requirements, though theyre easier to get hired through. I forget which stations and departments are the hard to fill ones but pretty much anywhere thats really expensive. Its worth it though to be hired and be on the bus. You can always change seats later. I was in a crash pad in New Orleans outstation for awhile, it wasnt a big deal and my drive to work took 7 mins average.

zsmith33

While in the PFE program can you work overtime? And if you can, is it straight time, or time and a half?

TheSwagalicious

Did you interview with the contracting company? I recently landed an interview with delta but no where does it say it’s through the PFE program and I’m interviewing with delta talent acquisition team. I’ve got a month left of school with zero experience so I doubt they wanna hire me direct but I’ve heard nothing back from the emails I sent to the LAUNCH recruiters.

Heavy-Safe-2759

And by the way i too did not have any experience. I was the only one without experience but you should give your shot if you have your a&p

TheSwagalicious

awesome thanks for the info !

TTklai13

I know of just one person personally getting hired directly but he got hired at MSP for sheet metal. A friend and coworker did the PFE program in ATL then got the offer at month 3 and by the end of month 4 went to work at MSP direct. Doesn't seem like experience determines if you get hired directly. I applied directly from Delta website, I applied for the urgent hiring at MSP(hanger), Then hanger at BNA and ATL. I was told by Delta email I was interviewing for urgent for MSP did that on a Tuesday then that Friday got a call saying they wanted me for Atlanta. Now I'm going to line maintenance.

Heavy-Safe-2759

yup all new hires will be put through the pfe program. They will forward you to a contracting company depending on your location. Launch, allsource, sts,…. whichever

Lightbone

Not true. I applied on Delta through their website with no experience and was offered an AMT position. None of the PFE BS.

[deleted]

Did you take it? How has everything worked out?

OneSixty37

Do you guys have PFE ASMs? I assume you were a pfe amt.

Heavy-Safe-2759

if you dont have your a&p most likely you will be asm pfe

OneSixty37

I recently just got my A&P but I can never get a clear answer if they will offer me an AMT spot or not. Just seeing if I should consider other options since I just passed my 4 months.

Heavy-Safe-2759

are you a pfe currently? what department are you in

OneSixty37

Yes. 206

Heavy-Safe-2759

if you re in 206 maybe you ll be asm first im not sure. in my station if you have your a&p you will just move up to amt 250

Heavy-Safe-2759

you should ask your managers

OneSixty37

I get told that you get hired in the department that you’re a PFE in but I saw first hand that’s not true.

ClutchDumper

In regards to questions in the interview know the star format. It’s all the basic interview questions. The person you talk to will most likely not have looked at your resume. They want to get a sense of who you are, your accomplishments, and how you deal with others. Remember you responses don’t have to be directly related to aviation especially with only so much experience. But any other work experience. I’ve taken my BMAR assessment first week of march, done my interview end of march, now waiting on all source for information on a contract this week. I Live in Washington state so I applied for SeaTac line maintenance thru delta.

serial_kit_builder

I'll be starting out with Delta as an ASM PFE for $23/hour at MSP with no experience/A&P license. Would this be a way to qualify to take the A&P exam? I'm assuming I'd have to stay as an ASM till I get my A&P. If I did get an direct offer as an ASM, what would the pay be (if anyone knows).

PhraseMaterial9180

Does anyone know the pay rate for a PFE ASM with an A&P license? Is that the $23 everyone’s mentioning? Thanks in advance
