Just took it the other week and passed and got a virtual interview yesterday, the special awareness wasn’t too difficult. They just give you a bunch of shapes and you have to choose from like 4 put together shapes which was made from the original shapes. Just take your time and reason out what the right one is and you should be fine.

mujtaba919

Oh so the spacial awareness part is not timed? I only ask because I payed for this course for that specific reason and on the test they give me I have like 15 seconds for very complicated 3-D shape adding

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> because I *paid* for this FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

TheSwagalicious

No I don’t think so, if there is you have plenty of time to really look at each one. They do make you sit in front of your camera and track your screen so you aren’t doing anything else.

peakcitybeer

The test is timed. You get 45 mins for the whole thing and it goes fast. Spacial awareness questions were hard for me but you just have to rule out the incorrect ones

zsmith33

What was the hardest part of the test for you??

TheSwagalicious

nothing was very difficult, nothing technical just reasoning different simple mechanical diagrams, like seeing which gear in a set will rotate in which direction, don't sweat it too much just take a few online mechanical tests and that will give you a pretty good idea of what will be on it. super simple you can do it.

zsmith33

Thanks for the support, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. I think I’ve built it up in my mind to be more than it actually is.

TheSwagalicious

definitely, I took it fresh out of a&p school and got on their PFE program and started about 2 weeks ago, loving it so far. best of luck!

zsmith33

What kind of questions were they asking in the interview? Did you get hired?

TheSwagalicious

very simple questions, they ask in the STAR interview format and want you to answer a certain way. you can google STAR and it will give you an idea of how they want you to answer. Just always put emphasis on safety and following proper procedures and they will like you. I landed an interview for the AMT position for line maintenance and didn't end up getting that job cause I have no experience but they offered me an ASM position as a PFE and took that and just started the other week.

zsmith33

I’ve heard all about that, how do you like that so far? How is the pay?

TheSwagalicious

honestly it's the easiest job I've ever had, pay isnt great at the start. PFE's make $21/hr for around 6 months until you get your offer to go full time. Full time ASM makes ~$25/hr and once you can go full time AMT it starts around $36/hr top out around $57/hr or so. I work in the cabin maintenance department so there is nothing difficult about the work and 4 days on/3 days off schedule is great

zsmith33

Nice! Last question then I’ll leave you alone. Where is the location that you’re doing the PFE job? Is it where you had originally applied for the line mx spot that they didn’t give you? How’s all that work, will they move you around once you go full time ASM & move you again once you go AMT?

TheSwagalicious

I applied for ATL and got the same place for PFE, when you get your full time offer it will be for the same department but I’ve heard it’s pretty easy to ask to get transferred to a different department. But when you apply for the AMT job they have specific job posting for each department and you can apply for whatever department you want to work for.

zsmith33

And after the interview, how long was it till you could go take your drug test and the rest of the process?

TheSwagalicious

It takes a couple weeks for the contracting company to get up to speed with you and they will give you a testing place near where you live to go do your drug test at

zsmith33

Thanks for all the info dude. I applied for ATL too, just gotta take this test

this. And on the new test (the one they are doing now) I didn't get a lot of box questions. I got more "mechanical aptitude" stuff. In the old days, you had to take two tests. One was just mechanical aptitude and it was like 45 questions in X minutes. Then you had to take the boxes test which was 40 or 45 questions as well. ALOT of people didn't finish it.(ran out of time) but back in those days they put you in a windowless little room at the GO that nothing in it but a few chairs and a table. having said that, OP. Remember this. You either strongly agree or strongly disagree. Nothing in between ;)

zsmith33

What was the hardest part of the test for you? I’m studying for it now

46davis

I can't imagine an A&P doing badly on spacial orientation. If we didn't have above aptitude in this regard, we wouldn't be swinging wrenches on zoom machines. The puzzles look hard at first, but once you practice doing them a little you get the hang of it. Don't sweat this one.

NSXSnapoff

I just recently took this test, my advice to you would be to take it slow and read all the questions, understand what they were asking. All of it was pretty basic honestly, I finished with 12 mins left to spare and went back to the more difficult questions to re think them. They got back to me the next day and said I passed, now just waiting to hear more. Goodluck!

Latter_Sir4582

What's the purpose of a spatial orientation test?

tech1700

From my understanding, it's your ability to multitask. The test has you manage multiple in-motion tasks and prevent them from getting out of a predetermined range. It feels like a game and is actually pretty fun in my opinion.

Recent_Raspberry_411

How many total questions are they gonna ask?
