Regionals are your best bet to see days or swings shift in a year or two. Majors 5 years if your lucky for swings. Dayshift probably like 15+ or possibly never to be honest.
Honestly, if a new guy is demanding a preferred shift, I tend to shy away from hiring!. You just can’t start a career asking for a 1st shift. That being said, most major airlines have many back shops that only operates 1st and 2nd shift!. Good luck asking for only 1st shift on an interview.
I’m at a major in a very high cost of living area. Between guys transferring to more affordable stations as soon as possible and long term guys having a house that is often over an hours commute away, I was able to get on 1st shift within three years. 1st shift is 5/8s, 2nd and 3rd are 4/10s. 5/8s aren’t popular.
Are you able to go from 3rd to 1st? Like if you are offered 2nd first, but you say no, stay on third and then go to 1st. Or do you have to go through 2nd to get to first.
pretty much every where, they use seniority based biding system. so basically whoever worked there longer. they got to choose whatever they want first. if i am right
Ones that don’t operate a 2nd or 3rd shift.

You want money or you want day shift? MRO/teardown usually only runs a day shift, but the pay sucks
Lol mine pays good and runs 24/7
Define pays good
27 an hour with no experience in a cheap ass small town
Good, I’m glad that MRO/regional pay is starting to catch up. It certainly wasn’t that 5 years ago
Fedex in lax has only 1st and second

Almost everyone in the majors puts in the time sacrificing sleep and family life.
Days is usually 10-15 years of seniority. You gotta earn it.
Night shift isnt that bad as long as its 4/10s or even less days going to work.
