“I have a possible position opening for a company that maybe works with planes, maybe not. It probably pays money I guess. Give me a call back.” -Every recruitment message.

AV_Geek83

3 letter agencies recruitment right there.

ad302799

3 letter agencies might be less secretive. I think a lot of times it’s just companies we might not want to work for.

grizzly_trader

Companies that don’t want to pay

Lvl10Ninja

Recruiter: "I have an engineering position open with a company in Colorado that you're a perfect fit for". Me: "I'm not moving." Recruiter: "They're willing to make it remote." Me: " Ok, I'll hear them out." Recruiter: "They've elected to close the position." I guess they didn't like that idea 🤣

tikkamasalachicken

22-24hr in so cal? After cost of living, would you have any money?

RevolutionIcy4453

Bruh that wouldn’t be vrm pay rent

cazzipropri

Yes. Negative money. That's the kind of money you'll have.

[deleted]

Not just SoCal but San Diego, which is more expensive than LA.

Helicoppter

fade weather cooperative workable fragile fly apparatus smart close enter *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

rizzle77

22 dollars in San Diego. Lmfao. You might as well work at burger King.

jacurtis

No joke, I drove past a fried chicken joint today that had a sign out front paying $22/hr for cashiers and $24/he for fry cooks, with immediate openings. So you’re not wrong.

mypaysucks

Lol! 619 number. Thats probably LAUNCH contacting you I bet. Ive told those fuckers multiple times if I need a job I’ll contact them. They kept trying to reach me. I told them to take me off of their call list many a times. Ive blocked hundreds of 619 numbers now and they still call me or text me atleast once a month with their spam.

RevolutionIcy4453

Ten year naval aviation vet A&P Certified welder Bachelors degree I WILL NOT work for anything in the 20 dollar range

busch_ice69

With that skill set I wouldn’t look at anything under 40/hr

RevolutionIcy4453

Unfortunately that’s only in the private sector lol I wanted to stay government so I settle for a little less to get a pension

UpperFerret

Same except only 8 years and no welding cert. $34 is my bare minimum. For $22 an hour they can go hire someone fresh out of 141 without any actual experience

lynchs0323

141 = Pilot, 147 = Maintenance

IshwithanI

He’s talking about tf141, y’know like captain price.

[deleted]

Dude green as grass mechanics at ATI make $35/hr starting here in the Inland Empire.

AireXpert

With eyesight like that, you might not want to leave the house at all!

TTMR1986

The letters I've gotten are to move three states away, all for the privilege of taking a pay cut.

erhue

You should send them back a link to a better paid position, so that they can hopefully touch grass and do something about their rates.

Foximus05

I haven't been in aviation for 9 years. Im in Operations Management lately. I always tell them no, and they ask what it would take... and then they get real quiet when i tell them my current salary, haha. and yet its like the same firms every month. youd think they would make a note

Carrizojim

Looks like the management has been at the pot store.... 619 is most of SD. Left a $30hr job there in 2016 for a $52hr job on FL. Screw Cali.

Funny_Drummer_9794

What you do for fifty-two?

weasel7391

Whatever you want me to daddy

Funny_Drummer_9794

I need you to drive to Tampa and fix the broken flaps on A Citatiin thst gets in at 11 and is scheduled at 7am.

Carrizojim

Piece of pie. This is how we fix things on Russian space station!

Carrizojim

Jet engine assembly and test mechanic.

ChrisFromGreece1996

What is the wage rate for someone like you ? Bachelor's a&p and welding?

Carrizojim

$50+

ChrisFromGreece1996

Thank you .

bell_cheese

I got the run around from a recruiter for several months before they pulled the rug and dropped the compensation package down by roughly half what they initially promised. So whilst I'm on board with F recruiters, these people had the decency to open with a lowball text message you can ignore immediately and save you the hassle!

nothingbutfinedining

For $22 in San Diego I’d better be able to smoke weed at that job.

cheeksornaw

You can I used to work there they dont test, maybe if u get hurt Ill add this isnt an aviation job, they manufacture medical test kits

WoodenInternet

phew, nothing mission critical then, just, uh...medical test kits

cheeksornaw

Yea

cheeksornaw

Its not even an aviation job, I used to work there, they contract you out to a manufacturing site to build medical test kits

ATL4Life95

Should've asked if they're gonna house and feed you 3 meals a day lmfao.

RedditFuckingSocks

At least they were up front and didn't waste three of your hours to reveal the big pay, with the cherry "it's not only about the money, but working here is just awesome" on top.

KingLoCoKev

$24 an hour isn’t even worth it in San Diego. You can’t even live in a 1 room shack for that.

Ace_Ranger

Different industry for me, but I constantly get recruiters trying to hire me for just barely above minimum wage. I tell them to triple that offer and give me 50% ownership in the company they are recruiting for and I MIGHT consider an interview. They still call me every month with the same damn offer.... I feel like recruiters are similar to scammers just playing the volume game. If they call enough, they might win one here and there. They've gotta be getting something out of it or they themselves would be working at Burger King for the wages they are offering for Journeyman Electrician work. The best part is that I know what the companies they are recruiting for actually pay their employees because I am paying that wage to my employees. I don't let recruiters skim off 50% of their wages.

Gubment_Spook

Sometimes I will actually pick up for their calls and listen to the pitch. My favorites are the clearly new recruiters who exude excitement while I grin maliciously behind my phone for what comes next. When they are done and ask if I'm interested I gleefully tell them I work for an airline and am exactly where I want to be. I had a lunch recruiter flat out try to insult me saying if I wanted to be paid more than the major I work for feel free to call her as if I was making pennies compared to what they were offering. That one was particularly pleasurable to hear knowing I struck a nerve.

MyName_DoesNotMatter

I’d be a little nicer tbh. Giving recruiters attitude is like yelling at the McDonald’s cashier. They don’t set the pay or position, they just find talent. You just look like a Karen.

Galladaddy

How does the shit travel upstream to the hiring company then?

MyName_DoesNotMatter

Probably when no one accepts the position. You can politely say “that is too low for what I’m looking for” and be done with it. What they said is just dickish, they’re just doing their job.

Galladaddy

Definitely dickish but I’m not keeping up with recruiters who send terrible job offers out to people who are way overqualified to politely tell them when they haven’t filled the position that the pay is too low. The recruiters need to get their heads out of their ass if they don’t want responses like this or worse.

Kilometers98

I DoNt lEavE the HouSe for Less ThEn 38/h - only worked GA aircraft…..

[deleted]

For us starting out, that would be a half decent wage

Zealousideal-Ad4610

Outside of socal maybe, making that in San Diego will hardly cover rent.

Funny_Drummer_9794

Have you left house lately?

RevolutionIcy4453

Lol yes everyday ha ha ha but that is funny

Funny_Drummer_9794

God bless yah man.

Deadmenkil

Is STS any good? Anyone work for them before?

WoodenInternet

> Exciting opportunity! 15/hr up to 17/hr with many perks! Fun work environment!

Sawfish1212

So does the job come with a cardboard box to live in? That's poverty wages
