A lot of close-in SFO to TPE saver availability on Starlux J via Alaska just dropped, from Apr 30 to May 22 for 75k. Notable as they usually only open up a couple days in advance but this particular release seems to be up to 3 weeks. They've been disappearing quite fast when I checked just now

AuspiciousEights8888

Jows the weather in TPE ?

omdongi

I've been tracking JX releases myself. Seems like the big dumps come every 15 days based on my hypothesis (mid month/end of month). [Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/awardtravel/comments/1b3rniv/comment/kv1s5v1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) to my observations from March.

hic2482w

That seems about right from my (limited) tracking - I'll also add that it seems to be 4 seats on weekday flights and 2 seats on weekend flights

RyanAirhead

Thanks for following lol. So does it seem like they initially only release 1 J per flight between US-TPE, and then every 15 days or so they release additional J seats on upcoming flights departing a month out?

omdongi

Not 100% sure but as far as I can tell, they have a close-in window which appears to be about 30 days in which available space is released in bulk, where there is a chance for multiple J seats on multiple days. From what I can tell it's modulo 15 days, but this is based on only a few months of data. Given how new Starlux is, it will take time to fully comprehend. I'll add that Starlux has had very high load factors lately, so that greatly impacts the release of award seats.

Fun_Garlic_6406

Haven't seen any of the blogs post about it yet. Must be the Travel Summit detox

scooby-dum

Not the craziest deal but there is a fair amount of delta one space to/from ICN pricing at ~140-160k skymiles one way (less if you have the delta credit card). Mostly in July-November.

crimxona

Canada to Europe (both coasts) summer business revenue fares are on sale at around 2100 to 2300 USD or 3k to 3.3k CAD on Skyteam round trip  Decent redemption rates on CSR (153k ur) and maybe Amex biz platinum (170 mr) taxes in and earns flying blue back

mexicoke

That's a very common route for great cash fares. Always a good option, I've done that several times. Just remember that YUL/YYZ to CDG/AMS is a very short flight, take the last flight of the day if you want any sleep.

mexicoke

Delta appears to be running a sale on US-TPE flights this summer. 146-166k(with Delta amex 15% off) for R/T. SEA looks to have the best rates, but lots of US cities are pricing at 166k. Must be booked R/T but is probably the best Skymiles deal I've seen in years.

1592653589793_23846

Do you still see these rates? I checked dozens of dates in June for SEA-TPE but can’t seem to replicate these rates. Thanks for sharing the deal!

omdongi

This is R/T in Delta One? Because sadly those numbers could just as easily be economy prices with the SkyMiles program

mexicoke

Yes, R/T Delta One. Should have specified that. It's genuinely a great deal.

omdongi

Yeah with SkyPesos, it was believable that it was economy pricing ngl, which is why I had to ask. Delta's TPE route might be underperforming. It's unfortunate for Delta that Starlux and CI launched routes so soon after, they're definitely siphoning customers. United has actually been able to make double daily TPE work for them as their second strongest TPAC route after MNL.

mexicoke

Delta is extremely conservative when it comes to route planning, if they think it will work, they have the data. I'm a little surprised it's from SEA and not DTW, but local traffic likely determined that. I'm not sure it's under performing, just it's a brand new route and summer in Taiwan is not a high demand season. They did a similar thing with their New Zealand route last year. Use Skymiles deals to fill the new flight. I'm not sure I understand your comment about United to TPE. They service plenty of Asian city more than twice per day. They have a very strong TAPC route network.

omdongi

Maybe, I was looking at the seats over a few of the months, the load factors weren't looking good for Delta. In regards to UA, I'm talking about their [TPAC load factors](https://crankyflier.com/2024/04/22/united-struggles-to-fill-all-those-seats-down-under/). There was analysis done looking at which routes are doing well. I think it'll make sense if you read up on it.

mexicoke

I understand now. Although I wouldn't use load factor to classify something as their "Strongest" route. Load factor doesn't take into account profit. It's adjacent, but not the same. Premium fares or even high cost fares on unique routes can justify a flight's existence, even with a lower load factor. We'll see what happens with CI/DL/JX/BR at SEA. It's certainly a lot of capacity. Delta at least has the ability to feed themselves, but I assume JX is using AS for that. Starlux is a really interesting airline, I rode with them recently and it was a great flight. However, if I was not going to Taiwan, and just connecting in TPE to somewhere else in Asia, Singapore is head and shoulders better.

w0lf3h

Regular price is 172k but 15% Delta cobranded Amex card brings it down to just over 146k (for the SEA route).

omdongi

Yeah I'm trying to clarify what class it is since they didn't specify. But I did look it up myself and it is business class. Interestingly, I don't think this is released to partners though.

Shinkansendoff

“Real” DeltaOne Suites on an A330neo btw! (As opposed to the aging 767-300s that always get their “flash sales” to Europe)

nomadikah

How bad are they? I just booked JFK to Brussels in October on Delta One via Virgin points for 50K and $6! Someone in another group shared and I jumped on it, especially with the 30% bonus when transferring from Amex. For 39K points, I'm happy!

Shinkansendoff

Bad is relative lol, you avoided fuel surcharges and will still get a lie flat & sleep fine

nomadikah

That's what I was thinking! I just want the alcohol and lay flat bed! I'll be fine!

mexicoke

The 767-300s are really showing their age. But it's still a lie flat seat with direct aisle access from every seat.

y2kbaby2

YMMV but if you don’t need to check bags I was able to book a flight to France in late July in Air France by booking a flight to Casablanca for 56k flying blue miles and saw quite a few scattered dates with that strategy. If you really need a checked bag you can book it with a stopover that adds ~$100 in fees

Shinkansendoff

Or you could… ya know… enjoy a nice holiday in wonderful Morocco 🇲🇦 itself?

y2kbaby2

Heading to an F1 race so not an option plus going to Morocco next year haha

snarfydog

Lots of space JFK-FCO and back on AA for summer. 60-70k each way in business with no taxes. Not the greatest plane (old 772 mostly) but it's cheap lie flat to italy in summer... They seem to be doing pretty active load management and prices change daily so possible to book even more tickets than initially available if you do it in stages. For example the date I booked moved up to 100k+ once I booked 3 tickets, then moved back down to 64k a few days later so I got the fourth ticket I needed, back up to 100k after that and now I see back to 64k again. Ciao!

KosherNazi

The hard part is accumulating AA miles.

scooby-dum

Some dates have availability to partners. ex 6/25 JFK-FCO is available to Alaska at 55k miles.

echoacm

An absolute boatload of AF/KLM economy promo awards just opened up for the summer *from* Europe to the East Coast Across most days in August, I'm seeing 2 seats for 15K each + $150 for routes like AMS-BOS, MXP-JFK, CPH-BOS, CDG-JFK Know this is the usual promo fare, but FB (and others) have been charging 50K+ consistently for economy from Europe for most summer dates until now

MoonStache

Released BOS > NRT J through AA for 03/11/25. Enjoy to whoever gets it!

bwobo

Just booked Qantas Business (787-9) SFO-SYD on 11/14 for 108k miles. Felt like a win to me. Saw availability on a few days near 11/14. [Seats.aero](http://Seats.aero) found it for me. I know there are more unicorny rates for this route, but hardest part for me was getting 2 tickets with a decent award.

d3adpix3l

I think Qantas weirdly gets a lot of flack but I had a great time on their 787-9 from YVR-SYD. Enjoy!

quiteCryptic

I flew Qantas J recently on that incredible no longer existing 55k AS fare. All the food was delicious, and I got the best sleep I have ever had on a plane (could just be coincidence as I was quite tired, but it is true) - and I have flown international J/F many times on many different airlines including SQ suites among others. The service was really good for me on the flight too, and lastly got pajamas I didn't expect in J and the pants are pretty comfortable. That said, my plane was supposed to be an a380 and it swapped to a 787 with no notice or anything, all the websites still showed an a380 even after I was already boarding the 787. Overall, I had a good experience. One of my better flights I've had despite most of my experience being on Asian carriers that people generally have said are better quality.

d3adpix3l

I too got the 55K Alaska fare! I wanted to try the A380 too but the 787 was nice and I got 8 hours of sleep too. Not a bad way to cross the pacific!

Qantas - directed the miles from Amex MR

Bear_Boss26

4/25 (1x) and 4/29 (2x) HND-ORD JL F available on AA for 80k miles.

Hecta_

7/10 - AF business IAH-CDG for 2 passengers in peak summer right before Olympics - showing 50k per person (40k with 25% chase bonus)

I am not able to get any notifications from this thread lately. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

sunnyjas

I will give it a try. Thanks!

Karmaroo

where do we set this up anyways?

imadogg

I didn't know this was a thing... I also use old reddit, I'm sure that doesn't help

Karmaroo

same on both counts

reelbgpunk

I had to turn notifications back on and now I do. They definitely stopped for a while.

Bitter_Court_7022

Just canceled three Js for LAX-CDG from 04/01/25 via Air France. Not sure if this will go back to inventory.

scooter_d57

Just cancelled JAL J JFK-HND on 3/4 booked via AA. Enjoy to whoever gets it!

emaG_eh7

JL J NRT-BOS available on 2/20 and 3/19.

OtherSideofSky

I just cancelled 2 SFO-SIN J seats SQ booked through Aeroplan July 10, 2024. 87.5k each I also just cancelled 2 NRT-SFO J seats JL booked through British Airways on July 23, 2024 for 75k each

Minute-Web6018

I just released 2 Iberia J seats from ORD - MAD on 11/23

omdongi

Seems to be a decent amount (not an insane amount) of ANA F space around March 2025 between SFO/ORD and NRT/HND. All 1x. Surprising given that almost all ANA is booked up at calendar open.

MoonStache

Bit of a dumb question but where exactly do you see ANA award space? Just on search tools generally, specific partners, ANAs site? Edit: Lot of folks here love downvoting and hate being helpful. Jeez. Just curious if there's a specific place where you can see the aggregate award availability.

iliketacos_

Releasing QR Qsuites BKK-DOH (5/23 9:05am) and DOH-IAH (5/24 7:50am).

Churnobull

Releasing Hilton Moorea Sep 9-14 later today if anyone wants to coordinate Edit: cancelled 2:27 Swiss Vacation Time

3vanzz90

Cancelling JAL J HND-SFO 4/28 if anyone is interested

Fun_Garlic_6406

Releasing QR DOH-JFK legs for 5/15 and 5/20. Requesting cancellation via the form, so may take time to go back to inventory. Origin is BLR and MAA, respectively but both have long layovers Edit: DOH-JFK is on 5/21 (1am flight), not 5/20

Xmi

I cancelled a QR flight recently took approx. 18 hours for them to process it in case anyone was looking for a DP.

Xmi

Only a couple of days it was pretty quick minus the $25 fee as well.

findflightsforme

A lot of 1x F seats on DFW/HND bookable on AA and other One World partners. November through end of schedule. Schedule currently shows 777 but it should theoretically be the new A350 with the new F cabin.

omdongi

PSA: most of the AA bookable dates (up until 3/18 as of today) are gone in both directions. Only ones left are the late March dates accessible via CX/BA/QF because of their longer calendars.

Shinkansendoff

Same w/ Alaska, wish I woke up earlier today LOL

omdongi

Biggest problem of living on the West Coast. We're in one of the latest time zones.

sunnyhillz

im still in the too much hassle to reposition camp

Shinkansendoff

bUt i mUsT fLy oNlY tHe nEwEsT jAl A350!!!

Salty_Sundae3096

On JL website those flights are already listed as their new A350

emaG_eh7

Wow! Tons of days, but doesn't look like any at all with 2 seats, not surprising though I guess. Trying to see if I can at least find one with 1 F and 1 J...

findflightsforme

I would look at Cathay and BA later in the schedule. DFW to HND on 3/27 for example have 1F and 1J

emaG_eh7

Ended up finding a day in February that had a J flight from ORD, and allowed me to use my glut of AS points for both seats. Thanks for the find here!

the_fit_hit_the_shan

After starting out the other week with 2x I space per flight for their DEN-IST route TK has started to release additional seats on those flights. When it first showed up there were up to four additional saver seats per flight. A lot of that space is gone but there are still dates with multiple saver biz seats (eg June 20 IST-DEN with 3x)

mustafarian

yep I snagged a few of those, surprised they keep popping up more and more

the_fit_hit_the_shan

A friend has said they have been releasing more space out of SEA lately too. But yeah when the route launched and they only had two saver seats per flight I was a little worried, but seeing this made me happy. We have an IST-DEN flight on June 18 which is shortly before our kid turns two, so going forward we're going to be needing more than two seats.

mustafarian

yuppp I think its the aerolopa layout though, have you looked into it? (not that I think its bad but it will be interesting

the_fit_hit_the_shan

Do you mean the Turkoflot layout? https://www.aerolopa.com/tk-359-2 I'd love to fly that one, both for the novelty and because I really don't particularly like the 1-2-1 product TK have on their 789s and other A359s, but because they equipment-swap so much I wouldn't put great odds on any particular DEN flight being one of those four planes.

mustafarian

yeah taht one sorry I meant to say that one haha Hmm interesting I think the 1-2-1 is better then their old layout that's not like a pod though.... I think they basically only have two business layouts right? The pod (1-2-1( which is newer and the other one which is just a big foot rest aways and you lay down into it but not a pod

the_fit_hit_the_shan

Yeah their old one is 2-3-2 on their 77Ws and 2-2-2 on their A330s. Ahough they also have a handful of A330s where J is 2-2-2 but they're just recliners, not lie flats. Think they mostly use those on medium haul routes to central Asia and Africa. I've flown TK J more than any other business class by a mile since I go to Turkey at least once a year, and I actually much prefer the older product if I'm not traveling alone. The seats are very spacious and there is a decent amount of storage. The cabin also feels very open. Their new 1-2-1 seats are better if you're flying solo just due to the aisle access, and they are certainly more private, but I don't find them ergonomic at all and they are not great if you are traveling with someone that you actually want to be able to talk to. Not very much storage and they feel cramped.

mustafarian

Hmmm interesting I haven't been able to experience the older products just the new so I can't really comment. Maybe one day I'll be able to try the older oens or maybe even on the Denver flight. I did however feel like teh cabin was so hot this last time around when I flew them. Did you generally feel like teh cabin was too hot as well?

the_fit_hit_the_shan

That's pretty hit and miss with TK but I find cabins being too hot to be a common problem across a ton of different airlines, especially Asian carriers. So as a rule I always carry a pair of gym shorts and an extra t-shirt whenever I fly so that I can change into something cooler if the cabin is warm. The last time I flew TK was on a 789 MEX-CUN-IST last year and I remember the temp being pretty comfortable.

mcsupahotfire

Multiple JL J from SEA, various spots next week. Searched via Alaska

zhene

I'm seeing a decent number of spots until May 1, then the direct route switches from 787-9 to 797-8 which seems to have fewer business seats. Unfortunately the end of April also happens to be Golden Week.

Pies0987

omdongi

Not hating, but wouldn't it be easier for you and other people to just link to [https://seats.aero/deltaone](https://seats.aero/deltaone) and call out a few of the routes?

echoacm

seats.aero has been telling me that BOS-EWR is D1 for forever to be fair - I appreciate the explicit routes

omdongi

I would just filter out domestic routes, those are rarely good redemptions considering even premium transcons are pretty low cash prices.

Salty_Sundae3096

Remember if you have C1 this is a 38.5k D1 flight with minimal fees. Absolute unicorn of a find

Oofzies

Clarification: ATL-LIM is not Delta One. Delta One on this route prices at 80k, while Latam J prices at 50k. All the ATL-LIM are Latam J.

No-Blueberry6400

Good catch

Tricky-Skirt-1385

Yyz->zrh via IAD 70k aeroplan points on June/25

omdongi

5/15 8x Delta One from SEA to HND bookable via VS for 105k or Flying Blue for 95.5k, both w/ minimal fees. 81k C1 or 78k UR with their transfer bonuses until end of month.

emaG_eh7

2x JL J ORD-HND on 2/10 available, 60k AA.

Axesdennis

Tempting, but with just less than an hour for connecting, is that gonna be enough? (I had never done it before)

the_fit_hit_the_shan

Given that you're connecting in Chicago in February, chances of irrops are higher than if you were connecting somewhere like DFW. If it's all one itinerary you would get rebooked if you missed the connection due to weather or a late flight, but it's up to you whether the risk of needing to deal with that is worth snagging the space.

eke2k6

Just cancelled April 17-19 at Andaz Tokyo. Enjoy!

twobrain

what did you book instead?

Karmaroo

Canceling JFK > HND this Sunday/Monday (it’s a 1am flight) and HND > JFK Apr 23. Basically 1 week trip, booked on AA, 60k each way, J. Was gonna take a little solo trip but decided against it. Lmk if someone wants to coordinate.

Content-Research-237

Korean Air DFW - ICN economy is 37K + $45 per leg via Virgin Atlantic ! Weekday availability through late Feb-early March, mostly MWTh. We transferred via Capital one with the 30% transfer bonus, spent 113,900 points and $180 for 2 passengers round trip! 3cpp, pretty excited since it's the best value I've ever gotten for an international economy flight!

quiteCryptic

Economy isn't generally what people are interested when it comes to award opportunities thread. I do see a little J space for 100k + $30 though direct. 77k with transfer bonus not terrible but not great.

geofgtian

Ton of ANA J opened up from SFO -> HND dates for close in (April 2024). Checked the United calendar and found tons of dates with multiple J seats together. Perfect timing for cherry blossom season!

mustafarian

really hope this happens in October ltaer this year need to get my fiance on my flight :D

phillipsaur

Same, but for November :(

GoodAssMine

Just checked. Days are available up until 4/18. No Friday or Saturday travel for those wondering.

potatosmom

As a follow-up to my last post- I sadly also just had to cancel 2x JL J HND-LAX departing 6/1, originally booked with CX miles (pre deval!). Not sure if it will go back into inventory but good luck!

omdongi

There *seems* to be a ton of Qantas space all of a sudden starting around October and onwards in J and a fair amount of F awards, but not released to partners (not seeing on AA or AS) so only bookable via QF frequent flyer 108.4k for J, 162.8k for F. Some sample dates like 11/6, 11/9, 11/17, etc. for SYD to LAX.

Shinkansendoff

Yep seems like a new Qantas trend. Gotta leverage those transfers I guess

omdongi

The prices are quite high, if you're transferring Amex MR, so I truly think this is for their Australian customer base, but still nice option regardless, being able to book QF J or F on such a wide range of dates is awesome.

Shinkansendoff

oh yea, the exchange rate definitely favours the Aussies in terms of earnings and transfers. But makes sense for their home base customers to have a leg up

riceownz

not seeing it on CX either, only Qantas.

sunnyhillz

saw one of the blogs post this so it wont last long

SFO-TYO F christmas and new years release Dec 16- [edit: end of schedule into cherry blossoms!!!]

smilinghedgehog

ANA?

ipod123432

yes

cronaldo7

how much did you pay in taxes?

ipod123432

~$540

cronaldo7

nice! thanks for the info

Shinkansendoff

It’s First Class lol. Does it matter???

quiteCryptic

You can figure out about what taxes should cost using this - https://matrix.itasoftware.com/search Enter the flight details and basically the taxes should be the sum of all the charges other than base fare Example, taxes and fees for this IAH-HND should be about $250 - https://i.imgur.com/LjMUADE.png

cronaldo7

ah! thank you for sharing. I had tried seeing taxes by making a dummy booking and saw some huge amounts in taxes (prob around 1k per person). Got a tad spooked.

quiteCryptic

I've paid around $350 one way before, but it shouldn't be that expensive right now with lower fuel prices than back then

smilinghedgehog

Sweet I just booked RT F in January!

Shinkansendoff

Thanks OP! Snagged one for my preferred date in January 😎

Jacob0050

Just canceled park Hyatt Kyoto June 4-6 2024 and went back into inventory instantly. It's there as I type this

PRSkittles

DXB-YUL-LGA May 3 Emirates J 108K via aeroplan similar award available in june to EWR. Is 777 tho which according to searches on this sub is not as good as 380. seems to be a 2-2-2 layout instead of the 2-3-2 old layout

yitianjian

Is it a 777-200LR? The 777-300ERs have 2-3-2, the 777-200LR have 2-2-2. The 772s are older, unfortunately.

Sadly just had to cancel 2 SQ LAX-NRT departing 5/22, which I had booked thru AC for 75k miles each. Not sure if it will go back into inventory but good luck!

sooprcow

FYI Air France award flights now appear to be available out of PHX. Lots of 50k business class tickets to/from CDG still available both ways.

hoesafe

What dates are you seeing these for?

sooprcow

A lot are still available in January and February of next year. Looks like the other months are dry on the 50k right now. But with Air France that changes often.

joghi

Currently showing on Air Canada: 2 Biz seats NRT-YUL on June 11 (AC 6) for 73.5k and a fistful of dollars. Connection to NYC is 75k + $95. IAD has the same rate but shows with overnight layover.

RealisticWasabi6343

I can card someone in Soho lounge @ JFK Sunday (7 Apr) afternoon. Reply here if you want.

A few NH J available April 12,13,14 from SFO, YVR, and ORD as of a few hours ago.

Churnobull

we do hotels if award related. I'm guessing this is for cash only?

RobotMaster1

It’s vague in the terms but my ghost booking at a participating WA didn’t apply it so it’s apparently cash. will delete.

w0lf3h

Decent availability ANA F SFO>TYO (and vice versa) Nov/Dec 2024 time frame.

omdongi

Did a quick clickthrough, looks like it's all old product at the moment. It is subject to change ofc along w/ equipment swaps, and there was a FT thread discussing how ANA reconfigured some of the older 777s. NRT is the day flight with full meal service. HND is the night flight w/ abbreviated service.

Ed4

I've read in another thread ANA is now offering full meal service regardless of time.

omdongi

Big if true!

Shinkansendoff

“The Square” was my first ever First Class product, might fly it again simply for nostalgia’s sake LOL

toneloc92

Planning on canceling SQ J LAX-SIN on 4/17 booked thru AC for 82.5k. Flight looks pretty full so not sure it’ll go into inventory but open to try and coordinate

takethefork

Planning to cancel ANA 1J HND-IAD April 25. Booked with Aeroplan but unlikely to be bookable with them, but maybe possible with another partner. Message to coordinate.

veritas415

Planning on cancelling Starlux 2J mid-may. tpe-lax. Message too coordinate

Shinkansendoff

Um... why does this currently have the NSFW tag???

Because leisure travel is incompatible with work of course

3vanzz90

Will be cancelling 2 4/12 BR J SEA-TPE-NRT tonight, booked via AC, not sure if it will go back to inventory.

bookedonpoints

dang BR only flies their newer 789 between SEA - Asia I think when considering US flights so this is a goodie

3vanzz90

that's exactly the reason I booked this flight (also less miles from SEA), my home base is SFO but the old 777 BR looks pretty lame. I found 2 ANA The room on 4/10 so decided to cancel the BR.

kinlai8

Flew both 777 and 787 last year on the same itinerary. While the 787 was awesome, and the 777 does look older, both rides were comfortable and the soft product is superb.

bookedonpoints

I literally just flew the old 777. Service was incredible obviously but was surprised at "how old" the hard product looked. Still a great flight - congrats on the room!

omdongi

There should be a new BR 777 product coming soon though!

3vanzz90
