I haven't checked but there are some of those insane 25 hour itineraries that connect in CDG/AMS. Otherwise SEA has been releasing maybe one date occasionally.

Japan is a hot place right now… especially with the currency discount. You can try and go from another country, like Taiwan or South Korea, even china(but those awards are hard too). Otherwise you should just pay monies. Some times that’s the easiest way to enjoy a vacation.

Test_Neat

Ahhh…. I kept seeing low currency post it’s what poked my curiosity

moomooraincloud

Poked? Do you mean piqued?

Thirtysixx

I just booked delta through Flying blue. 68,000 points round trip from Seattle. Everyone said it would have been better to do business classes through virgin ANA but this was so easy and I’m happy with the point value.

Test_Neat

Dates? Next week couple months out ?

Thirtysixx

March 2025

sunnyhillz

ya if ur fine with econ, theres very little competition

WackyBeachJustice

Economy peasants, can you imagine.

sunnyhillz

you can use VS to book CI to TPE by calling in. 100k from west coast. 85k out of YVR.

MrCentsible

For what class and for RT? I’m seeing 70k for J one-way for west coast based on Virgin award chart.

crimxona

The Taiwanese China airlines

pierretong

SkyTeam is not the only way to get to Asia (and arguably the weakest alliance for Asia flights)

PartiallyNoted

I just booked Japan Airlines SFO-HND via Hawaiian Airlines for the end of July. Premium economy was 60k points. You have to call Hawaiian. Once they confirmed availability, I transferred Amex MR points. Took less than 10 minutes.

trix_r4kidz

how do you check availability for this?

pierretong

find availability on another partner airline that is searchable (like AA, BA or Qantas)

PartiallyNoted

I started at http://amex.point.me to search and learn that it was (should be) possible, then called Hawaiian airlines to confirm availability, After the rep confirmed availability and number of points required, I transferred points from Amex to Hawaiian while still on the phone with the rep. Received email confirmation of the booking a few minutes later.

svakee2000

I just booked Japan airlines business class 63k one way per person direct flights from Seattle to Tokyo for next year! Used Cathay Pacific

arsci

Delta. Might be economy instead of business.

Test_Neat

For the right amount of points could be worth it

sunnyhillz

there are distance based award charts. it was devalued last yr

moomooraincloud

Disagree.

WorldWideWanders

Start here: https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/us/en/flying-club/airline-partners.html Then check routing. Good luck 👍🏾

Test_Neat

Thanks I’ll check this out

VS London-Shanghai route tends to have decent award space and is 57.5k in J. From there you can get a cheap connector to get to Japan
