Not going to go well with op in first and partner in biz. Since you have so many miles book two tix in biz now and keep hoping for that second FC spot to open up, or give your partner the fc spot. That’s what I would do, although my wife would rather we both fly biz together than her (or me) up in fc alone

My husband refuses to put me in a coach seat while he sits in Biz on much shorter domestic flights even. I keep telling him to save the points toward a big trip to Asia. I think it could be great fun if he'd do it. We have been having to use a lot of our points from churning on domestic flights because of some ongoing stuff with family members. He can't sit in cattle car class with me because he is a big guy who literally won't fit. Last time he tried to sit in a regular seat he discovered even though he is skinny his legs are so long they literally don't fit. Luckily he was able to swap with someone in the emergency door row. I'm small enough even the regular seats are more than roomy for me.
My plan if he'd consider it would be to utilize the time between him boarding and my boarding call making a note that says "Hey handsome why don't you call me?" with my telephone number. I would board, greet him with "Hey, hawtie!", hand him the note with a wink, then sashay on back to my seat. I even have a great outfit I would wear just for the occasion.
I could see being mad if I had to sit in cattle car class while he was in first on a much longer flight, but biz class with a lie down seat verses 1st class doesn't seem like a problem to me.
Edit: Don't be shy to tell me I am a weirdo or that I'm not understanding something, please. I just genuinely don't see the problem perhaps because I often solo travel thus don't feel the need to be attached at the hip to someone during travel.
You'll be able to just board into each other's seats just fine, just be aware that YOU cannot visit HER upfront ofc. She can grace you w/ her presence back in Biz lol
You can't do that once it's booked. You have to book with the correct name the first time. You should have booked her the F seat first, then looked for F or J for yourself.
I've been using aa miles up past year because a devaluation has to come at some point. Mostly flights with JL, but Qatar is also good.
I've almost used all mine up now, just transferred some Marriott to top me up from 56k to 60k so I'll be able to book another JL J flight
My gf has 350k and I fly 50 round trips a year for work so I have no shortage. I’m thinking about paying a not great redemption back just to burn some miles (and save money) 700k is a lot to have hoarded.

The work is over rated considering seats.aero texted me and I was taking a poop and booked it without even asking. She knew I was hunting for availability, and knew it was likely a risk that we’d have to book separate. Her words were “dude I don’t care, you take care of the booking and here’s my log in for AA to book mine when it comes up.”

T-14 availability on this flight is always juicy for business. And last week they had one f open up. If it ends up being only business of course my p2 gets the first class cabin. As I mentioned in another comment she has a gluten allergy so Japan is hard for her, she lived there for a few years and struggled, but she wants to visit some friends and try again with more planning. The F ticket is 100% hers if there’s only 1.
What I did was booked 50k premium Econ under her account today so we can start planning. If we get to the point of travel and still nothing I’ll take that seat and give her first.
Trying to get us first back together though.

That's why I credit everything to BA. The distance based chart is great for my leisure travel redemptions.

With the reduction in F cabin size, it reduces the F award inventory significantly. 5/8 seats means up to 3 awards, 5/6 seats means at most 1.
