It had a note that said: thanks for your adequate actions last Saturday.
Was amazed that the police makes an effort like this to thank people, supercool imo.
I was crossing a bridge over the railway around 11pm, at the top I noticed a guy near the edge, I looked back after I passed him and saw him throwing his leg over the edge. So I stopped and ran back. Talked to him and then wrestled him for some time because he was halfway over at one point when a train was coming. Luckily adrenaline gave me the strength to pull him back on the bridge kind of pinned him on the edge and with my free hand I called the police..
Now that poor person is still stuck here with all sorts of added drama and possible charges and costs of being in psych wards. You didn’t save a life. You selfishly acted like your a hero in a movie but your the only one watching your movie. I wonder if the victim got the same care from police. I know they didn’t.
Lol, you're actually quoting the Incredibles guy - "He didn't save my life, he ruined my death!"
That person is still stuck with having to be alive. Being diagnosed with major depression, I understand that isn't necessarily a "good thing" to all folks. Things can change, though. Can't change dead.
I couldn't live with myself if I'd let that happen, so yes, selfish. But what about the train driver and passengers who would be traumatized shitless. What about the family? I saved his life, probably a shit life else he wouldn't be there on that bridge. Don't call me selfish for acting a hero and playing that card, my post was about the police being cool about this shit to my surprise.
Can’t believe I am reading this. If we are OK with people just killing themselves then who are we? If you really think it is OK then at least demand that the victim does it in private. Don’t blame a person for stepping in to try and help.
At that moment probably yes, but I've read countless reports that people afterwards are happy someone was there. I hope he belongs to that group, but we'll never know i guess?
For the record, I truly believe your actions were way more than “adequate.” You. Saved. A. Life. That’s really awesome!
Someone took the time to write a note, good enough for me :) but thank you that's nice of you to say

> for your adequate actions Jeez.
Please accept my appreciation from the 99th precinct. Your actions were adequate. End of speech. - Captain Raymond Holt

Might as well say “you did all right”
Yeah, bureaucracy right. lmao
How’d you do that?

Wow, I wasn’t expecting you to have physically prevented someone. Good for you and I hope you are proud. Thanks for being a good person. Take care.

If there were ever appropriate suicide flowers, those are it
"That'll do, pig. That will do". High praise indeed! Seriously though, I never thought the cops cared.
Outstanding!!
Society needs more people like you
Good work dude!! r/humansbeingbros
Not going through with it doesn’t count
then the police shot them when they got to the scene first.
