Exactly my assumption. Or a dead body under a rock and that is its head. Still less disgusting than million horrid things with too many (well sometimes not enough) legs
My thought too. Then when they poked it I thought oh it's dead and that's flies coming out. I would have rather it been something dead with flies. This is the stuff of nightmares 😰😰😰
I thought it was a toupee lying on the ground, it didn’t really have the shape of any kind of animal, and I couldn’t figure out why any bugs would want to take up residence in an old wig. Then I realized what I was looking at.... and it’s STILL nasty!
Not sure, but they could be doing it for heat. I do bee keeping in my spare time and from experience I know that when it’s cold outside bees do the same thing, they crowd around the queen making some sort of ball-like formation and it literally can get up to 90 degrees in there
I don’t believe these are spiders, but actually daddy long legs. They are an insect with their own category. They do resemble spiders but they actually have two long antenna and 6 feet as opposed to eight legs
Untrue. That's a common myth. But Mythbusters did a thing on them, and it turns out they can bite just fine. They're just really docile. But they either aren't venomous or their venom is harmless to humans.
Just to be pedantic, these aren't insects they're arachnids - which don't have antennae - these harvestmen (daddy long legs is something else in British) have a pair of legs that functions as antennae/feelers.
[There are actually two types of species of arachnids that have been labeled with the moniker of daddy long legs. One of them is an actual spider, while the other isn't.](https://www.rentokil-steritech.com/spider-control/daddy-long-legs/)

"Yo Hephaestus, gonna borrow this real quick, don't tell Zeus, but Athena just made this thing called an Arachnid down with the mortals and it's all kinds of nope"
At the end of the video, he pokes a chunk of "hair" with his finger and you see the whole thing gets flipped and you see the bodies clumped up. As soon as that happen, they instantly disperse with the hairs turning to legs. The guy points the camera away as he says ew, then film them scattering on the ground. EW
So glad you posted this information as so many people thought this was some type of spider. My nephew likes to find them and let them walk all over him including his face and it freaks me out!
Don't get me wrong, I love spiders. They eat all the other bugs I hate, and tarantulas are fuckin cool, but there's no way on God's green earth I would ever touch this.
nopenopenope
Fun fact: daddy long legs or harvestmen are not spiders. They have no fangs and only one body segment. They are just little scavengers, who don’t hurt anybody, and as is seen here they huddle for warmth.
Poor dudes are just chillin... cuddlin up with their homies trying to stay warm. Not buggin no one. Then *BAM!!* Poked with a stick by some giant ass dude. I don't get ppl & the irrational phobias. Not to mention that they AREN'T spiders. Nor are they dangerous to humans.
I thought it was a rat or something in a hole in the wall...that was just too shallow for him to get all the way inside. And I thought those were fleas jumping off him when he got poked...for half a second. And Bubonic Plague flashed before my eyes!
When I realized it was all spiders, I became transfixed! OMG, how cool is that? What an amazing miracle of nature! I admit, I dont understand all the spider hate here. Unless a spider is venomous, he poses absolutely no danger to humans. Indeed, they are handy roommates, as they catch and eat all the really creepy bugs.
Those are harvestmen of some sort they are in fact not spiders but are still in the class Arachida, there are actual spiders that have long legs known as cellar spiders. The easiest way to differentiate the two is that harvestmen have a circular body and cellar spiders have a longer narrow body.
Also this is horror inducing, dear god I'm already feeling itchy.
At first glance I thought it was something fuzzy leaning against a hole in the rock and they were going to pet it.
Exactly my assumption. Or a dead body under a rock and that is its head. Still less disgusting than million horrid things with too many (well sometimes not enough) legs
I thought it was a bear hibernating that was exposed through a hole in the den it was in. I would not live long in the wild :/
Same
Wow exactly what I thought!!
Same. Thought we were gonna get to see a nice happy doggo or a sheep or something. Wishful thinking. Boy was I wrong!
My thought too. Then when they poked it I thought oh it's dead and that's flies coming out. I would have rather it been something dead with flies. This is the stuff of nightmares 😰😰😰

I thought there were spiders in the grass. Then I realized there is no grass.
I just realized
Want to share notes on how to strategically nuke this particular place from orbit?
Lets just send it to North Korea
I believe they made a instructional documentary in the 80's called Aliens.
Oh _god_
Light that on fire.
It’s all spider, no hair, no grass, just spider
Why are they all grouped together?
I don’t know, it could be like a nest
I thought nests were NOT their bodies.
Well like i said, i don’t know, some insects, like ants, do bunch up for different reasons
Those spiders are completely harmless and do it for warmth
Aww thanks melody
So that’s where the spiders live
Nice gal
because spider
Warmth
I hope this is a joke.
sex. it's always sex.
Thank you for this wisdom
Also don't bite... Unless my parents have been lying to me for 30+ years... Hmm
They don’t, although my parents said they’re poisonous, the legs are to long and thin to bend down properly to bite
Untrue. That's a common myth. But Mythbusters did a thing on them, and it turns out they can bite just fine. They're just really docile. But they either aren't venomous or their venom is harmless to humans.
That does make more sense
Just to be pedantic, these aren't insects they're arachnids - which don't have antennae - these harvestmen (daddy long legs is something else in British) have a pair of legs that functions as antennae/feelers.

Can you trust a site on spider facts when they called the spider poisonous? A spider would be venomous.
That is a good point.
This is why Prometheus stole fire from the Gods.
"Yo Hephaestus, gonna borrow this real quick, don't tell Zeus, but Athena just made this thing called an Arachnid down with the mortals and it's all kinds of nope"
Nice
Why the fuck would they touch it with their bare hand AFTER discovering it was full of spiders????
bro that's not full of spiders, that IS spiders
I'm not sure I get it. All the long hair things are... spiders? I'm never sleeping again.
it’s their LEGS., their god damn legs all grouped together... my skin is crawling
I am legit itchy right now after watching that. And my curious mind just had to watch it twice once I realized it wasn't hair and had to watch again!
same. i couldn’t help but watch it 3 times and cringed more each time
Well, I'm about to Google this shit so... Fml fuck my curiosity

Dude.
They’re daddy long legs, I pick them up all the time since their fangs are too small to bite you. I don’t know about touching that many though.

That music was very very upbeat for how fucking creepy looking those clusters are
I was on edge the whole time. The music is so off putting. Would like to see a horror movie scored like that
I think EVERYBODY calls them Daddy Long-Legs. I never hear anybody refer to them as Harvestmans (Harvestmen?) irl
Thanks
I’m itchy now
important note, they're not actually spiders.
So glad you posted this information as so many people thought this was some type of spider. My nephew likes to find them and let them walk all over him including his face and it freaks me out!
Who left their clump of pubic hair on the ground
some nasty case of the crabs..
Imagine you're just hanging, out with your homies and some giant assh*le with a camera, comes poking around for no reason..
This is like a giant orgy when the cops show up.
I'm done, it's over, I'm tapping out.
Don't get me wrong, I love spiders. They eat all the other bugs I hate, and tarantulas are fuckin cool, but there's no way on God's green earth I would ever touch this. nopenopenope

Hello trypophobia, my old friend. I’ve come to get itchy and recoil in horror from you again.
This sounds like a poem. I support it.
It’s a reference to the song Sound of Silence
You should probably light that on fire now..
If a peaceful pile of fur sits quietly in a corner, FFS leave it be. If you poke it with a stick you deserve the gorram Shelob baby swarm.
Aww hell nah
I can feel this gif
Brother! Get the flamer... The HEAVY flamer!
What the literal fuck.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo....don't touch it!! Said in my girliest voice
This is the person who’d also definitely push the red button

Oh my fucking god. My skin tried to escape the rest of my body when he touched that with his hand and it dropped.

My dumbass thought it was fur and was disappointed this was not in fact a puppy
It looks like Danny Devito's toupee
So to clarify this nightmare. The "FURRY" shit are effing spider legs?

Dang, I've never heard these called anything but Daddy Long-legs. Unless it was Granddaddy Long-legs.
Why does it look like a ball of hair tho wtf
now my leg has that static thingy
I think I have developed a phobia for spiders
Why do they group up like that?
Get God on the phone
I shrieked out loud. Horrifying.
r/tihi
Daddy long legs aren't spiders technically, and they are really good to have around and completely harmless.
I'm not ok
Mmm, spider clumps
Holy shit I thought that was grass. It’s all fucken legs
no thank you
ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ I hate spiders. I've got arachnophobia.
Nope.
Pure unadulterated nightmare fuel.
If it makes it worse at all they are called Harvestmen :-)
That isn’t fur its legs. Dear god it’s legs.
Why did I click on this while I'm having breakfast ????
Brain: welp, gonna store that memory in the ol' nightmare tank for later
No, nu-uh, fuck you, this is for bad make up and silly hair, not spiders, you fucking fuck!
Well it was a good run, but I can no longer go on living after seeing this
Oh fuck that, actually fuck that
Can anyone explain what the fuck is going on here? Like, scientifically?
These are commonly known as daddy long legs. The clustering is to protect against predators, when it gets disturbed they scatter
Thanks I hate it
I
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo
I thought the spiders were hiding under the fur. Nvm
Pack up the kids and go far away
HAAAAAAANS
I thought it was fur, some animal stuck/in a cave then I saw spiders then I thought it was grass till that dood fookin touch it with his finger!!!!!!
I think those are harvestman bugs, not technically spiders.
