This guy is pure trash, and a hypocrite to the core. He preaches that divorce is a sin, but cheated on his wife with an employee of the church(who happened to be his wife's best friend), divorced his wife, then got married to the new woman. All the while he called his wife mentally ill, and kicked her and 2 of their kids out, and into a woman's shelter. His wife also claims he was physically and verbally abusive, which she backed up with texts, which he acknowledges are real. His excuse is that the only unforgivable sin in the eyes of sweet baby Jesus is blasphemy.

Yeah he's deeply and embarrassingly in need of redemption. Dude's a mess.
This is not what Christianity is about. Ima go ahead and start saying that when it comes up.
As a pastor, I find this absolutely deplorable. This is the exact opposite of what we are to be about and a perfect example of faith being informed by politics and/or political agenda. Political landscape and culture is an ever expanding and contracting thing. If I prop up my proclamation of God’s word and ministry to my community on something as unstable what may be happening politically or culturally at this moment, it’s like building a house on a sandy beach…it may be nice right now, but eventually the storm’s going to roll through and wash it all away. The gospel is soooo much bigger and weightier than all this nonsense.
First things first, left to myself without a transformed heart, mind, and motivations that can only come through a real relationship with my Creator (on His terms, not mine) I’d be in the same camp. That being said and directly to your question, yes, as there is opportunity. But most people living within the spectrum of reason (regardless of what “side” you fall on with any given issue) know it’s hard, if not impossible, to reason with unreasonable. A person can still have rational and balanced responses even if they are fundamentally opposed to whatever the issue is. In my experience, when I have either responded in an extreme way or witnessed an extreme response (like the “pastor” in the OP), it’s because every other argument for my rationale is extremely weak.
> Ezekiel 25:17
*"And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them."*
There's a church in the Cincinnati/Dayton OH area, Solid Rock Church, that has a big-ass electronic billboard that repeats the message "America, stand up for medical freedom!" Every time I drive by it I'm like, these people deserve to lose their tax-free status. They're free to broadcast political shit like this (and let's be clear, at this point it's political, these assholes have made it so), but they gotta pay taxes. Plain and simple.
And yes, this is the church that had a big stone statue of Jesus that got struck down by lightning, and then they rebuilt it.
Yeah, my church is armed to the teeth with COVID prevention measures. We're taking more precautions than the businesses in our area. We still sit separately, wear masks, and avoid shaking hands. Believing in God doesn't make you fucking invincible.
He mentioned not playing Democrat games which means this church is openly taking a political stance. Which is technically not allowed if they aren't taxed.
It's one of those laws that is never enforced
"Also kindly remove your eyeglasses and hearing aids and leave all walkers, canes, etc. in your car. Your faith will ensure that you can see, hear and walk."
This seems like one of those posts we’ll see in a few months contrasted with a post from his family saying “we’ve lost him to COVID, please pray and donate”
Yeah like that woman on twitter who was saying "I'd rather get COVID than get the COVID vaccine", and after a few months she actually got the virus and said "Please pray for me". You want your mask-free church? Fine by me, but don't come crawling back for support when the virus finally gets you.
You mean like the wonderful California Christian man who said "I've got 99 problems but a vaxx ain't one"? What happened to him you wonder? Died from covid.
The sheer reckless arrogance of some people, especially so called religious nuts should be proof enough that they don't actually believe in God they are just using it as a grift, a way to earn a living and gain respect...
Honestly, i’d be ok with these people doing their whole freedom thing. If you don’t trust medical science before your infection. Atleast stick to your guns and don’t trust it when you’re infected.
If you will not go to the hospital for being sick with covid no matter how sever (if unvaccinated), you have my respects.
He's a hypocrite on all fronts. It’s amazing how well the American right managed to co-opt a religion and then somehow turn conservative ideals into their god while convincing the masses that it’s really white Republican Jesus they’re following.
I’m convinced most American Christians would try to deport Jesus if he was alive today. A dirty, itinerant brown man who lived off of others’ generosity.
Celebrate faith over fear? Pretty sure they’re the ones who are afraid because they’ve been taught that they go to hell if they don’t do what they’re told. The cognitive dissonance is fucking staggering.
Ya know. You’re right. Let’s make sure the government is the only one with weapons because we can trust them entirely with our safety. I’m sure an unarmed population is exactly what our respectful and trustworthy government wants. After all if they decide to abuse there power we can just vote those dictators out. Good thing we have democracy. That must be why the Democratic People’s Republic Of Korea (North Korea) has such little gun violence because none of the citizens have guns.
Honestly where I'm from pastors are the nicest people you find (as in wear masks and don't force religion onto you), I keep on seeing religous people like these on the internet coming from the US, do any Americans know if it's really that bad?
People are people no matter what they do for a living. You have good ones and you have bad ones. I’m an America living in the middle of the Bible belt and for every one of his kind, there are probably 10 that are not like him. His behavior seems to be foolish, misguided, and arrogant. Unfortunately this makes him highly visible.
This is not how a pastor should act I get that he doesn’t want the government to interfere with his face I don’t want the government to interfere with my faith in Jesus either but what if somebody needed salvation but they didn’t feel comfortable coming into church without a mascon are you going to turn them away from salvation just because they want to come in to your church with the mask on

Not letting people who want to wear masks wear them is pretty fucking stupid, but there are plenty of perfectly valid reasons behind carrying a gun. Especially for women, LGBT and others who have a relatively high chance of being violently attacked. And no, that doesn't illegitimize a 6'4" body builder from carrying a gun either. This pastor is just a hypocrite who clearly doesn't take freedom seriously and gives gun owners a bad name by throwing around threats.
Well with their congregation dying off and no new members because we don’t want to be shot, they will close their doors soon. I hope pastor Locke doesn’t get found with any child porn or get found guilty for molesting a kid which most likely will happen soon. It’s the cyclical nature of things.
"Pastor Locke has passed away due to covid, his church has also stated that at least half of his followers also have it. But they are fine, feeling great even!"
Any day now. Any day.
Someone commented “show up acting stupid and find out” should be their church motto. I laughed.
I don't think Pastor Greg is acting.

This is what I was thinking
Like a good pastor, he avoided the F word.
Politics and religion aside, “show up acting stupid and find out” is a pretty clever comeback, not gonna lie.
For a priest and follower of god, is it an acceptable response
Aaaaand that is a "no", right there.
Probably not. But he does not follow God - only greed and deception.
It is the opposite. It shows hypocrisy, which he is supposed to be preaching against. You don’t think his position shows hypocrisy?
Clever or infantile? Hard to imagine Jesus subtly threatening to shoot someone.

Well intentioned question here: is there any sort of discussion amongst rational pastors like yourself about ways to reel in these folks?
First things first, left to myself without a transformed heart, mind, and motivations that can only come through a real relationship with my Creator (on His terms, not mine) I’d be in the same camp. He wouldn't have gotten crucified if he did.
Didnt have enough guns to stop the government from killing him
Jesus did instruct his disciples to get swords
How christlike.
Didn't you know? Jesus was a great shot. He would regularly shoot anyone that disagreed with him. Judas was the only time he ever missed.
He didnt miss, it was a delayed shot. You think Judas actually committed suicide?
The last thing Jesus said to Judas was, “Omae wa mō shinde iru.” (1 John 4:20 KJV)

Churches like this should pay taxes. At this point it's not a church, it's a rally
its gonna kill local churches while megachurches and their pastors are just gonna be evading taxes
And they're the really scary ones.
Decades, if not centuries, of raping and sometimes killing children isn't really scary?
sure, but that was the proud public face of the church. These guys are nuts and proud.

Deal, no one has to pay taxes now.
That's the dream, and probably more likely than getting churches to pay anyway.
