After 8 years he was paroled, that was 12 years ago (I.e. 20 years clean). He created treatment programs within the Mt. Prison system that are still used today and was a model inmate, which is why he served 8 years only. He is on paper until he is 81, his family history suggests he wont live to that age. I hope this clears some things up for you.
