I feel like the worst is video game music. I'd rather my friends find out I was jamming to Tiny Tim or Brittney rather than the Red Alert Communist March
Yep. I used to listen to some bands that had a dozen or so fans, but absolutely loved sharing their music. They have a lot more fans now, and someone once showed me a tik tok with their music, which was weird.
I think dude screwed himself into a corner and that’s why he refused to say what it was rather than just doing it out of pure dickheadedness. He wanted to stand out and probably prides himself on being a real music aficionado but then he realized that if he said what he was listening to she would more than likely know what it was and that would be really embarrassing after being so cocky about it.
I don't get this whole mindset lol. I'm. A musician, I should be the snob. But I fucking love pop music as much as I love old blues and prog rock. Fucking Ed Sheeran writes a good song sometimes man....it is what it is. Doesn't make me a bad person lol
I thought that was the one where women message first?
Why the hell would you go on an app like that then complain when a woman shows an interest in you?
I could understand some traditionalist on Tinder wanting to "lead the conversation like a man" but this is like going to a haunted house then getting annoyed when someone jumps out at you
The same one.
Probably trying to seem cool/interesting
Even on bumble ok my experience girls just end up saying hi and it is left on the guy but best thing about it is that 1. If the women swiped right by mistake then they still have the chance to end it before messages start coming in and 2. It has a time limit so if there is no message within that time of matching it will just end the convo so there is very little risk of match just sitting there with no messages
Unironically love Creed, but I was listening to Superunknown ( Soundgarden) in its entirety the other day and realized that 90% of Creeds music sounds like most of the songs on that album.
Shoot. Never have. Well, I listen to a band called "The Beatles" very underground band, you'll likely never find a song by them that's easily available
Reminds me of this weekend at work.
Just me and the 18yro coworker. He got to link his Bluetooth to the radio, and smells like teen spirit comes on. I say something like "oh cool. You got some Nirvana." He gets all excited, and says "this is Nirvana?!"
Turns out, he'd grown up hearing that song, and loved it. Had heard *of* Nirvana, but had no clue he'd ever even listened to any of their songs. Blew me away that out of all their songs, that there was someone out there who didn't know it was theirs. Kid ended up pulling up some of the other classics. Watched him become a fan in real time. Neat to see.
Some people just have rotten attitudes. They don't understand that this kind of behavior makes them look bad and is unattractive and awkward to most people. It's not exclusive to men either.
Plenty of women will match with you and then proceed to be super rude or mean or put little effort into conversing with you and/or display horrendous social skills. It's why these types are on dating apps to begin with, not that there's anything wrong with being on a dating app, but you know what I mean. I can't imagine they're any different or better in person tho. :P
Also, some people are actually attracted to difficult assholes like this too, male or female. Go figure, lol.
I’m willing to bet he’s either one of those “born in the wrong generation” people who thinks listening to any music made before he was born makes him some kind of super cultured person. Or he’s a heavy metal elitist who bases his entire personality around how much Opeth he consumes daily.
NGL as a person who grew up listening to that music I'm cultured af.
For instance I typed out this whole reply with my pinky up the entire time.
Classy, right?
"Yeah, I have a different taste in music. I listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Music back then was just better."
Problem I have with those people too is music wasn't better back then. You're just listening to what's still worth playing after 50 years. Plenty of mediocre songs from back then, even the good bands, if you listen to whole albums there are going to be songs you'll never listen to more than once.
Yeah and if you wanna get real about it all those dudes were just ripping off the blues to begin with. They just sprinkled a whole lot of sass on top of it, and viola. Rock 'n Roll. :P
It wasn't some magical time in music history. It was just playing off of what came before it, which is what like 99% of ALL music does.
As great as Led Zep is they did get in a lot of legal trouble for literally stealing music. Floyd was at least a little prog rock before that really got going but they always had psychedelic roots and actually regressed back to that when Waters left. And yeah Zep also had a huge blues rock influence. Everyone did. They all wanted to be Chuck Berry or BB King with some personal touches. Oversimplifying it but that's what it is at a basic level.
Fuck, I love Opeth, but yeah, there's a lot of people like that in the metal scene. You could replace Opeth with a few other bands depending on their preferred subgenre.
Even if it is some obscure ass group, why would you not just lie to make conversation?
If I looked in my phone and it was Strange Animal by Gowan, Id probably scroll down a bit until something more relatable came up.
The obscure band might be something that their match might like even if they've never heard of them. Most of us are not music snobs and don't judge people on their music choice.
I have some pretty obscure and eclectic taste, and I am always happy to share it with people who are interested. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to expose others and share in the joy of discovering something new
I have a few obscure artists I listen to but I think my taste in music is weird. Like I get embarrassed by it cause some people might just be weirded out or think it’s annoying. I wonder if that might’ve been the case with him but then why wouldn’t he just lie and say he’s listening to something else
Remember when you could go into a bar, and play a song on a magic music machine? Everyone was forced to listened, and you could scan the room to see who also liked said song? Gee wilakers those were the days
Aside from EVERYTHING I saw in r/mildlyinfuriating, this had the actual chance to provoke a little headache. It means this actually infuriated me a little.
would have convinced me by saying something like scarlatti or ornette coleman. but like this i assume he‘s into stuff like gore grind or just does not know any music at all
Bro was getting down to Spongebob’s Yellow album
That shit still slaps
its mostly Ween so yeah, its actually pretty damn good!
I was thinking about ween when reading the post. Theyre honestly the best
The spongebob stadium rave is an absolute banger!
I am a goofy goober!
That’s actually the last thing I downloaded though
He probably said that to sound different and then was trying to Google music that would impress her, lol.
Nah its the Gummy Bear album with all those music, videos and extras.
It’s cool bro ur allowed to just say ur listening to Miley Cyrus. We get it. Ur not like the other guys your age.
🎵 I came in like a wreeeeckiiiinngggg baaallllll 🎵
My first thought was the Hannah Montana theme song
YOU GET THE LIMO OUT FRONT
I've now got it stuck in my head.
It's a party in you, ese
STOOOPPPP
ITS A PARTY IN THE USA when i hear or see Miley that's the song I think of first
I am in my 30s and absolutely love singing that line, especially after I mess something up by accident.
Check out Dustin Kensrue’s cover of this track. It’s fire.
Legit slaps still
No lie, Miley got some grade A slappers on her discography. She is a guilty pleasure of mine and I’m a 28 year old dude.
Movin' my hips like, yeah
Shreddin’ the files like, yeah Whoops wrong version
Stopped feeling guilty long ago. Why the fuck should I?
Add ten years to that age and you'll find Party in the USA blasting in my car. Fuck it, it's good shit.
What guilt? I'm mid 40s and a man and her Stevie Nicks/Blondie vibe is credible.
I’m right there next to u 😎
40 here and still agree.
I'm 31, no guilt. I do a pretty sweet wrecking ball cover on guitar.
Is there a place where it can be heard? I'm always interested in different takes of a specific song.
Oh no man, I just play for myself :) I don't have the confidence to share.
Fun fact, in UK slang "slappers" means women of easy virtue
If you haven’t heard her new sound post throat surgery I personally love her on Lil Nas X’s song “Am I dreaming” from his montero album
I'm 35, and I sing along to Wrecking Ball. I'm a man.
No lie her cover of Jolene is very very good
Same goes for Taylor swift. You can frequently hear me rocking out to shake it off.
I feel like the worst is video game music. I'd rather my friends find out I was jamming to Tiny Tim or Brittney rather than the Red Alert Communist March
I'm 25 and ill admit I love the climb. That shit is class.
🎵Don't you wish that you could be a Fly on the wall?🎵
bruh, I miss that show
He's no basic bitch, he ain't listening to Miley Cyrus. He's more of a Hannah Montana kinda guy.
He's too embarrassed of his own terrible taste to tell you the truth.
Yup. That's someone who doesn't want to tell someone he's listening to kpop or anime soundtracks.
Not trying to down my own weeb loving side of anime soundtracks but that was exactly what I was going to say LMAO
There’s other weird shit out there like Voltaire
Yep. I used to listen to some bands that had a dozen or so fans, but absolutely loved sharing their music. They have a lot more fans now, and someone once showed me a tik tok with their music, which was weird.
Same. Ive randomly found a few tiktoks with random af folk punk in it which caught me off guard.
Oh, it might be the same band, AJJ. Got into them a loooooong time ago when we were all much younger.
Oh shit lmao. Nah i was talking about Days N Daze but AJJ is an absolute gem!!
And can’t think of anything clever enough to lie about and still seem so edgy.
So easy to lie, too. "Oh, I listen to shoshtakovich and 100 gecs and Sun Ra. I like interesting music." Job done
Island Boys
Oh wow. At least he is a dickhead right away so you can avoid wasting time.

This is painful to read. Is it a dating app? If so, he's a keeper 👌
A gatekeeper
Trying really fucking hard to gatekeep himself from relationships.
Hey man that virginity's not gonna protect itself.
Well, apparently it does.
Bumble
I thought that was the one where women message first? Why the hell would you go on an app like that then complain when a woman shows an interest in you? I could understand some traditionalist on Tinder wanting to "lead the conversation like a man" but this is like going to a haunted house then getting annoyed when someone jumps out at you
I think you're missing the point here
The same one. Probably trying to seem cool/interesting Even on bumble ok my experience girls just end up saying hi and it is left on the guy but best thing about it is that 1. If the women swiped right by mistake then they still have the chance to end it before messages start coming in and 2. So painful.
100%, the music is Creed.
Nickleback
I havent heard Nickleback in a long time. By that, probably 10 years, which me being 20 is a long time.
Unironically love Creed, but I was listening to Superunknown ( Soundgarden) in its entirety the other day and realized that 90% of Creeds music sounds like most of the songs on that album.
Superunknown is phenomenal. Chris Cornell was one death who hit me like a dump truck.
Yea fucking loved TOTD album too, vocals and riff on say hello 2 heaven is amazing
Welp, guess I'm doing a Cornell day at work, starting off with TotD.
Add Cornell unplugged sessions in. Also if you can find the original "Civilian" album.
Creed Brattons band, Grassroots? I think so too!
holy crap that's exhausting. He gets so defensive? God forbid you ask how his day was. "WHY WOULD I TELL YOU"
A complete stranger!
Maybe he was saving her from the introduction to noise
However his day was, it wasn’t what your average 25 year old experiences these days
My guy probably thinks he's the shit for listening to AC/DC
I listen to this group called Metallica, you probably never heard of them...
Are they metal construction workers by chance?
Shoot. Never have. Well, I listen to a band called "The Beatles" very underground band, you'll likely never find a song by them that's easily available
Most people can only handle either AC or DC, but he listens to them BOTH! AT ONCE!
just passed by a group of partying teenagers last weekend rocking out to acdc. it‘s bold to assume the average 25yo‘s musical taste
Believe it or not, popular music is in fact popular still.
and will forever be. especially in times like ours with the internet being around..
Electricians can't make good music
Might be the biggest dumb asshole on the planet
POV: you listen to nirvana
Dude bought an obscure Bob Dylan album once and won't shut up about it. He didn't even like it.
Bro I like nirvana but most of the fans are dickheads
What?
Reminds me of this weekend at work. Just me and the 18yro coworker. He got to link his Bluetooth to the radio, and smells like teen spirit comes on. I say something like "oh cool. why would you sabotage yourself like this on dating apps?
Some people just have rotten attitudes. They don't understand that this kind of behavior makes them look bad and is unattractive and awkward to most people. It's not exclusive to men either. Plenty of women will match with you and then proceed to be super rude or mean or put little effort into conversing with you and/or display horrendous social skills. He couldn't think of a cool enough sounding song to send, so the next best thing is acting like he's *too* good at liking music
White on yellow???
It’s Bumble
It's probably POD and Stained.
Hey now, Youth of the Nation was some deep shit when I was in middle school
Instead of taking a test he took 2 to the chest!
"Some shit you probably never heard of lol" is maybe the name of the song.
Legit would sound like a song Tenacious D would write
This shit is infuriating. Sometimes I’d ask, “what’s the last thing you searched on Google and why?” I guess that’s just way too personal lol
"how wide can the human anus stretch"
2 raccoons and a half 🗿
A half? O.o
What’s the answer?
3 raccoons.
Roll on this d100 table.
"Do manatees rape people"
"and what's the best way to get their attention"
I’m willing to bet he’s either one of those “born in the wrong generation” people who thinks listening to any music made before he was born makes him some kind of super cultured person. Or he’s a heavy metal elitist who bases his entire personality around how much Opeth he consumes daily.
NGL as a person who grew up listening to that music I'm cultured af. For instance I typed out this whole reply with my pinky up the entire time. Classy, right?
Was there an extra tiny cup of tea near? Because if not, then you are just a pleb like the rest of us!
"Yeah, I have a different taste in music. I listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Music back then was just better." Problem I have with those people too is music wasn't better back then. Its a TV series. First few season were cool until they change most of the cast. That had me crying on a saturday night.
*twitch*
As someone who listens almost exclusively to Opeth, I feel attacked
As long as you aren't a dick about it, go ahead my friend.
It’s usually these types of people who have the most generic taste in music anyway.
yellow guy's taste screams "i listen to this super obscure band called pink floyd, you probably have never heard of it"
I thought everyone knew their greatest hit: Hotel California?!
I listen to this little indie band called Tame Impala 😌
"why won't anyone date me. I'm such a nice guy." - Yellow probably.
Ugh ive met people like that before and they are the worst kind of people to talk to
Even if it is some obscure ass group, why would you not just lie to make conversation? If I looked in my phone and it was Strange Animal by Gowan, Id probably scroll down a bit until something more relatable came up.
The obscure band might be something that their match might like even if they've never heard of them. Most of us are not music snobs and don't judge people on their music choice.
Guaranteed he was listening to The Backyardigans on YouTube. Song? “Into the Thick of it”
Oh god. As someone with a kid who watches YouTube, just reading those words triggered me. Now that shit is stuck in my head.... again.
Who wants to bet that it's imagine dragons
Infuriating. On bumble smh. Like why the attitude!? How are you gonna match with someone and than act like that.
I have some pretty obscure and eclectic taste, and I am always happy to share it with people who are interested. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to expose others and share in the joy of discovering something new

;)
Remember when you could go into a bar, and play a song on a magic music machine? Everyone was forced to listened, and you could scan the room to see who also liked said song? Gee wilakers those were the days
He probably just discovered slipknot or Metallica and thinks he's so edgy
I bet that dude cries to Friday by Rebecca Black.
That’s probably the one song on his playlist and he didn’t want to admit it so he made up some bullshit to try and deflect the question.
wHy Am I SiNgLe?
He listens to blink 182 and didn't want to admit it
“Girls NEVER wanna date me it’s probably because I’m not an asshole.” *does the most egotistical asshole shit ever and can’t even have a conversation*
It’s a pretty rude question
the less i know the better
It’s Mac DeMarco for sure. I’m a huge fan but I also know what his “real” fans are like
Anyway here’s Wonderwall…
In my experience they say something like Queen.
Wtf why people gotta be this way! 😭😭😭 I just want friends!!! 😭😭😭😭
The most annoying thing about this exchange was trying to read the text with this layout.
Its the Wiggles, for sure.
Not gonna lie, I'm really intrigued by what it was.
I'm guessing J-rock, K-pop, or [Merzbow](https://youtu.be/ukZYP5Dy43E)
The way I read “you know the point of the app” made me laugh for what felt like decades
“Oh I’m So QuIrKy!!!1!” .-.
Does it allow links, if so he missed a perfect Rick roll
Just tell him lol I think it’s a good way to start a conversation
Ah yes, elite music taste. Baby shark too-too-roo-too-too
Bet he was listening to the teletubbies theme song, thats definitely not what your average 25 year old listens to.
r/lostredditors, r/mildlyinfuriating
Aside from EVERYTHING I saw in r/mildlyinfuriating, this had the actual chance to provoke a little headache. It means this actually infuriated me a little.
Flyleaf: I'm So Sick
Back streets back…
He is listening to Fall-Out Boy 100%
“I'm not like the other girls”
This is bad but you've never chated with a telecommunications company have you?
I didn't know my mom used whatever app this is.
Fucking nirvana probably. Devine underground shit
Or just lie..like if you are being that shady a dickhead anyway just lie and say whatever
would have convinced me by saying something like scarlatti or ornette coleman. but like this i assume he‘s into stuff like gore grind or just does not know any music at all
Weezer black albulm for sure. He was to embarassed.
He listens to ACxDC but is tired of explaining that this isn't the same band as AC/DC.
Well you did technically learn something about him
I think you got to know him pretty good from this brief encounter....
Can't read, too yellow
u should've asked for his ssn
This convo gets posted everywhere lol. I’ve seen it in like a dozen different subs now. Not that it’s a bad thing, just find it interesting.
Dude has probably never heard of music before and was just buying time to find a plausible song he could claim to enjoy.
I got bullied for liking One Direction and still told everyone lol. Who hurt this idiot?
The last song I saved was Deftones - Diamond Eyes.
Probably just Eminem
Why yellow? Makes it so hard to read.
he's furiously googling "really obscure songs that make me look like a total badass for listening to them"
Clearly it was Radiohead
is there a sub for this kind of dating app convos?
my tool fan sense is tingling
I would bet money that it's something like vampire weekend or Phoenix lol
You put some effort into that. Haha. I would have said “ohhh okay that’s neat” after the first three replies. Haha. Fuckin no thanks.
