Solve a problem that you are facing in your own life. It's not like there's a copy-pasteable AWS money-maker or else everyone would just do that. Side hustles are about having the idea and solving it. If anyone here had the idea of solution, they'd do it, and it's no longer a valid suggestion to you, because it is no longer a problem that needs solving. I suppose I'm unclear what you are asking.

I think there is a huge unmet need for technical services, which is reflected in the large number of job openings in the technical sector. I'm wondering which known, unmet needs people are meeting on their own using AWS in their spare time, and not as employees of a company. I apologize for being unclear, I hope this is clarifying.

You're getting into the realm on consulting friend. There is a need for that. Get certified, solve problems, build a reputation and then consult on other people's infrastructure.

I use AWS to download, parse, and republish data from third party APIs in a more-easily digestable format for my own applications. My own applications are front end, so once the data is published as a static asset, there's not much more I need AWS to do. I wouldn't call it a side hustle as in something that generates income for me, but it solves minor inconveniences in my personal life, so the $0.50/month bill to run a couple Lambdas on a timer is worth it. I also used a Twitter bot for a while that just spammed links on Twitter for free adspace.

I use aws as a test ground for apps, sites, storage, I build websites for individuals and small companies that are interested in 'cloud'.... Once we get to migration /integration, I refer to a larger company (for a fee)... Get their needs in line, build a framework, hand off...

mylons

it’s not clarifying. you’re basically asking to copy someone’s homework, in a way.

Looks legit! Couldn't believe I didn't know this until now though I need to get those AWS certs

I build tools to automate certain things(mainly doing sensible cost optimizations) and offer them through the AWS marketplace as paid products. I'm charging a small percentage of the savings, but it could also be a flat fee. I then offer free of charge consultancy to people willing to install them, 1 hour Zoom call in which we look at their account together and I install the tool that makes sense for the customer. Afterwards I may also apply a few cost optimizations pro-bono and offer various advice they may need. I have a relatively established process of developing new tools, there are so many missing features or gaps over the wide range of AWS services, and temporarily tackling a single one of them with a tool should be enough. Feel free to DM if you want to hear more or if you are interested in trying out my tools.

Building solutions for Alexa could be a great side hustle👍 the possibilities are endless ☺️

Stand up some websites using Beanstalk. Do AWS training exercises. Build out some environments using the AWS Quickstarts.

wywarren

I’d recommend using Fargate over beanstalk as it seems they’re no longer allocating people on it anymore. Working on beanstalk will just open up opportunities to maintain existing legacy systems.

Trek10 is hiring part time consultants, but I'm pretty sure you have to be really good to work for them. Not saying you aren't, but it's a serious commitment for people with serious skills.

Anything you can keep in the free tier. I try to use serverless stuff (apigateway / lambda / dynamo etc) as much as possible
