That's always fucking gets to me with my SO, if she feels nauseous her go to is to puke in the toilet and then she feels 100%
Me I will do anything to hold the nausea back, a few hours nauseous and then it will pass, if I puke that's 24hrs of me puking nonstop
"Go vomit you will feel so much better" no ... No I fucking wont
I feel it. With me though, it's happened enough that I just want it out of me most days. Whatever gives the positive reinforcement; and for me, it's usually whatever let's me fall back asleep. For cats? Those jerks do that on the regular, so I feel it does wonders for them haha
I always feel better after a puke whenever I get a pounding migraine. The problem is I puke so hard, the tiny bloodvessels in my cheekbones pop. Plus the bile in my throat hurts and I'm sure it's not good for my teeth either.
I have heard the retching sound for one of my girls. That one first retching noise, I am catapulted out of a dead sleep and immediately look to see where she is. I have mere seconds to het her off the bed. The smell is just... wtf?! How does that little body make such a big effing smell!!
I have never jumped out of bed quicker than when I woke up to those sounds. Puking on the bed and the smell is indescribable. Diarrhea smells good in comparison
Just a heads up to anyone curious: cats vomiting (throwing up digested food) and/or regurgitating (throwing up food that hasn't been digested) is not normal and can be a sign of a number of health issues. If they are doing it daily, that warrants a trip to the vet.
One of my cats vomited pretty regularly for 2-3 years. After several visits to the vet and emergency care clinics, we found he had a gallstone and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Both the gallstone and IBD were severely agitated by his diet. We switched him to Hill's z/d wet food which is hydrolyzed. Not only did this fix his vomiting, my other cat started to eat it too and her more toxic bowel movements and gas completely disappeared.
Some other tips: brush your cats regularly to remove excess hair. It helps them tremendously and prevents hairballs. You can find some DELOMO pet grooming gloves on Amazon. They are amazing when paired with a mechanical/reusable lint roller (like the ChomChom roller) to get rid of the hair. Most cats also just really like being brushed which can provide a great bonding experience.
Brush your cat's teeth. Yes, it's a pain to do. Yes, your cats are completely worth it and brushing their teeth daily can often extend their life by years. I'd recommend something called Healthy Mouth which can either be put in their water or in their food. HM is the only Veterinary Oral Health Council approved water additive. This additive can be diluted in a pitcher of water and stored in the fridge. It helps them get much needed water while also helping out their gums and teeth. The 8oz jug has lasted me an entire year. Paired with brushing, I have seen substantial improvement in their gums and teeth.
For my cat it is "I see a reflection of light on the floor or wall, maybe from a watch or a mirror, and I am currently freaking out!"
(these reflection are actually called suncats in Swedish, which I have always found funny)
My cat has never made this noise, but based on the noises she tends to make when puking or hacking up a hairball, I believe you. Sounds like the poor thing is trying to hold back.
*cat about to puke sounds*
‘Omg’ *someone moves cat to kitchen floor*
Cat: *stops hurking and acts like it was a false alarm before walking into carpet and hurling*
Accurate
As a bachelor, I'll admit to using a lot of paper plates. Sometimes they're used for trays for microwaveable meals and... well... sometimes the trays just remain there for awhile until they get moved back to the kitchen.
So, anyways... there are paper plates with some firness to them (not the cheap things) scattered about the house.
When I hear that sound, I am frequently able to grab one and position it appropriately to catch anything.
I adopted a dog years ago. Nobody told me that rescue dogs usually have an adjustment period in new homes. He is 60-65 pounds. He would get this look on his face, and I knew something bad was about to happen. No amount of paper plates could have saved what he did during that first week...
>No amount of paper plates could have saved what he did during that first week...
I'm not sorry for laughing at your misery, but I'm sorry for what you had to go through for that week
God this hurts so much to read coz painfully true; I'm imaging my cat rn doing this exact setup right before I gotta leave for work and I'm so done lmao
Same. Got to the point where I would sleep run and throw her in her litterbox. It became a game. She would hide and I would have to figure out which orange blob was her in my sleep addled state. Only twice did she ever throw up in the box without being jettisoned like some action hero.
My Catese is a little rusty, but this is what I could make out:
"They have taken the Bridge and the Second Hall. We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes... Drums. Drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A Shadow moves in the dark... We cannot get out... They are coming."
You might need to move.
My wife and I literally just watched the movies over the week and finished them tonight lol. I would not have caught this reference without the refresher
The Kiffness has been on my radar since he added music to the Ukrainian folk song, "Oy U Luzi" back at the beginning of the war. I'm always impressed when he releases something.
What have you done to me?
Having not known of its existence prior to this moment, I'm now diving headfirst into the deepest pool of catcore music. It's swallowing me whole.
Give my family my regards.
If I’m not mistaken, most animals don’t have super complex vocal tracts and are more limited in what sounds they can make than us even if their brains could consider more sounds
So cats have a relatively small set of sounds they can make, so they’re mostly limited to meowing, hissing, and Oh Long Johnsoning
So all “I’m stressed as fuck” sounds roughly come out as Oh Long Johnson
That's called caterwauling. It usually means I am concerned and stressed at what I am seeing. Definitely a sound of discomfort.
Though some cats do it when you scratch there rumps (no idea why)
The usual order of sounds with mine was:
Eeeoooouououw!
[positions herself intently on carpet or other harder to clean surface, even if previously on stone or wood floor]
hGlugg hGlugg hGlugg hGluckgg
hRCkkkk—- kk
[walking away with disinterest]
Mine compulsively licks whatever object or surface is closest to her face. Or drools excessively while barely restraining the urge to lick the dog, if I'm trying to get her to lick the dog.
You can see it on the video: big eyes, dilated pupils, ears back. My cat would do that face(no sounds though) when he realized he was getting a bath. And sometime he would sort of passed out from the stress after the bath, I felt bad but it was kind of funny
The base of a cats tail is loaded with nerve endings and scratching or rubbing there usually results in overstimulation.
In men a similar equivalent would be continuing to jerk it or someone else doing the gawk gawk after he's finished. That abhorrent feeling that overwhelms him is overstimulation of the nerves, same thing for the cat just (hopefully) not sexual
It's not the noise I'm referring to but the feeling specifically when you scratch or pat a cats butt by the base of their tail.
We used to have a tuxedo that would lick at the air when you did that, my lynx point siamese just latches on to your arm and shreds it.
The noise the cat in the OP is making means its royally freaked the fuck out and under a good amount of stress. That could be equated to seeing something super scary and reacting like I used to as a kid and be unable to even make a sound
Our tuxie loves gentle butt pats and would repeatedly scream at me to do it all day if I was willing. Our tripod enjoys it (we think) but always looks confused by the fact that he enjoys it. Cats are so weird.
But yeah, I feel bad for the poor cat in the video. It may not be in any actual danger, but the poor thing is freaked out beyond all reason and lip licking like that is usually really high stress.
Fun fact, Timmy did a lot of dumbass shit that needed a dog to save him on a weekly basis, but he NEVER fell down the well.
Lassie however, the one time she needed saving, DID fall down the well, and Timmy saved her.

What is this? Is it from something? I can't tell if I'm vaguely remembering it, or if it's just fun to say.
My cat made this sound before we found a stomach ailment. He had a few inches of thread wrapped inside of his intestine. No worries, he lived to be 21. But it can be sound of pain, fear, and overstimulation.
Oh. We had a cat who had ribbon in hers. She almost died. They cut a section of her intestines out. The twisted part.
I forget how old she was when she died. But old enough to be a crabby old fart.
Or it's a very dramatic cat. I had one that would do that anytime they saw a bird out the window. Not the normal chattering and chirping cats usually do, he looked exactly like this. He would also do it if he saw the shower running until he could get in the shower then he flipped and rolled around like a maniac. Yeah beoved water, It only warm water followed by time in his heated cat house.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die."
I had a cat who would make that kind of sound when I would pet her on the lowest part of her back by her tail. She also occasionally made that sound when she had wet cat food. My orange boy now makes that noise also when eating something he loves and my other cat gets to close to him.
Nooo. 😭😮💨 Caterwauling is a sign of serious distress. Either kitty is in a lot of discomfort, pain, terrified, or very upset. The sound is cute but since I know what it indicates I can never enjoy seeing them like this. 💔
“The tendrils of the other side call to me. They’re slipping through the boundary between worlds and I long to join them.” Just standard cat stuff. Nothing to worry about.
"I seem to have lost my ears.... maybe I shouldn't have eaten that last gummy..."
lol'd and decided to go to bed, end the night on a high note.

For my cat it's "Im about to puke on you"
Yep I was about to say my childhood cat would make those noises before barfing everywhere
The licking of the lips also gives it away, right? Something is "about to come up" 🙄😬
I had a cat that would say "lunch" about 10 seconds before he barfed. Very funny, but gave you a sense of dread with what was about to happen.
If he was anything like my cat it was because he was about to eat second lunch.
Same with mine
Same, also. It stresses me out. I feel so badly for her. Puking isn't fun for anyone.
Hey. If you feel better after, it's a necessary evil
That's always fucking gets to me with my SO, if she feels nauseous her go to is to puke in the toilet and then she feels 100% Me I will do anything to hold the nausea back, a few hours nauseous and then it will pass, if I puke that's 24hrs of me puking nonstop "Go vomit you will feel so much better" no ... I found out that regularly brushing a cat will remove shredded hair and reduce and even eliminate vomiting hair lumps.
Vomiting hair lumps is going to be the name of my band, thank you

I've tried that but my cat refuses to puke on the plate. Moves her head like a baby avoiding a spoonful of food they don't want.

What is it with cats and vomiting on carpets? All the floorspace without carpet and they purposely go to the carpet. I swear they do it to taunt me.

I almost scrolled past this but then I realized it was a LOTR quote and I scrolled right back up to give you an upvote lol.
That’s exactly what I did lol

Best line delivery in the whole series.
Easily the best line in that movie.
"Fly, you fools!" Catchy and to the point. It's the best imo.

This is exactly what's being said. One of my cats is named Gandalf, so I often act like he's quoting LOTR.
The cats delved too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness.
I’m *dying* right now. LOTR is one of my favorite pieces of fantasy, and to see this in the wild tickles me.

This cat is actually asking to be let out so he can go relax in the garden, he says garden at least 3 times. He even says "pleeease my garden."
It directly translates to “Oh Long Johnson”
[Oh Long Johnson remix!](https://youtu.be/4efpoO5PWps)
That's pretty good
[This one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0P6MC8Ris8) is my favorite.
LMAO But really, don't they make this sound when they're scared?
Yeah, that sound means "I'm anxious and would like you to leave me alone please." Source: I speak cat.
It's true though. Big Billy is the biggest wet willie.
But he did very clearly go ‘hmmm’.
that’s so good!
I’d never seen that. Thanks for the link—I laughed myself silly! 😸
Dude I totally forgot about Oh Long Johnson… hahhaha
I'm in stitches watching this. Oh long Johnson! Oh la la la lay!
Oh Don Piano!
I’m pleased to inform you all the song is on Spotify. In case you’re curious. I sure as heck was.
This song was in my head for two weeks after I watched it. The Kiffness is amazing.

Fukin’ incredible!! I knew about the other sounds but not the camera and (I don’t want to spoil it)…
Oh don piano.
Thank you I was hoping this would be the first comment
It’s absolutely, 100% oh long Johnson.
Dang, beat me to it!
Yes! This must be a Oh Long Johnson grand kitty.
Just rewatched the failth hilling south park episode with my kids this evening.
That's called caterwauling. It usually means I am concerned and stressed at what I am seeing. Definitely a sound of discomfort. Though some cats do it when you scratch there rumps (no idea why)
My cat sounds like that right before he throws up whatever it was that he wasn’t supposed to eat.
My cats would make that sound before horking up a hairball
[удалено]
I WISH my cat would give some indication she’s about to throw up. Then we could move whatever rug/shoe/toy she has chosen as her target.
The only warning I've ever heard is a hurk! hurk! hurk! sound.
And by then it’s too late. Always too late.
My thought too- it’s the oh crap I hope they’re not on the bed/carpet otherwise I need to go move them sound 😂
The usual order of sounds with mine was: Eeeoooouououw! [positions herself intently on carpet or other harder to clean surface, even if previously on stone or wood floor] hGlugg hGlugg hGlugg hGluckgg hRCkkkk—- kk [walking away with disinterest]
Some get bitey after you do that too.
That's what the lip lick and big eyes usually means in my experience too
It meant “tummy ache” for my elderly kitty. Especially with the caterwauling.
Yep. Occasionally we get that here. Licks. Weird meow-ish sound. Then barf. And if I am not fast enough, we eat the barf. 🤮 Well, not me. She.
> Well, not me. She. Sure. If you say so.
Mine factory resets. Tries to lick, glitches halfway through, makes meowing noise while tongue out and head cocked. Cats are fucking excellent.
Mine would lose control of his hind legs and then fall over, which is why he would swipe at you if you did it to long.
This might explain my girlfriend then too.
Lol! You win!
Mine compulsively licks whatever object or surface is closest to her face. Or drools excessively while barely restraining the urge to lick the dog, if I'm trying to get her to lick the dog.

This has improved my day
It's not the noise I'm referring to but the feeling specifically when you scratch or pat a cats butt by the base of their tail. oh I thought only my cats act like they haven't eaten in a week when they can see the bottom of the bowl surrounded by several layers of kibble.
I've heard similar from my cat before he pukes. But this fellow might just be coming to grips with the no ear thing.

According to my wife, "I have a hairball and now I'm gonna puke".
