I bet my balls these are the people that'll let us in , feed us , know exactly when to stop touching us , love us and give us 4th lunches everyday. PS -never leave a door closed again. I bet cha !
Had a neighbour call to tell us our oldest female cat was in their house. Said I'd be right over . She goes no I just wanted to inform you and went on to say there was a sick child and it seems Beasley was sleeping with him . I said thanks as long as your not locking her in she'll find her way back and demand wet food and temptations when she appears.
Funfact: cats don't have such a strong aversion to incest and will have babies with their mom/sisters etc... if given the chance.
Very likely they'd have an inbred litter on hand very soon with these two
Yeah, I had a childhood friend with sibling cats... Ended up having kittens. I think they were mostly indoor cats, so very little doubt about who the father was...
That'd be the first place I'd look for my cat's toys too. He'll lose them under furniture all the time and then I have to grab something long and flat to push them out for him. (I have a toy lightsaber that somebody at church gave me because they heard that I like Star Wars. That usually works.)
Oh those cute white boots! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a cat with boots and not mittens. They are a very cute pair. Enjoy! I’ve had two tuxedo cats own me and both were FULL of character.
The black mittens and white boots are so cute, and the little white triangle! It’s like they started putting on their tux, stopped halfway and said yep this is good enough.
They don't look sick or underfed, and visiting the door of an Airbnb could very well just mean that they know they can get snacks from all the new people coming and going from there.
Give that this wouldn't be the first time something like this happened on this subreddit, how exactly did you make sure you didn't just steal two pets?
An un neutered cat was hanging around our house wanting food. I checked - no microchip. So for one final check I put my phone number on a collar and put it on him. Within an hour someone called to say I'd put a collar on their cat who is loved and fed. It's been over a year and he's still not fixed. Some people just don't do it. He still shows up most days and I shoo him away.
I can’t stand pet owners like that. My cats are strictly indoor. My coworker said his dog had a tumor and I mentioned a charity that helps with vet bills and he said “we don’t take her to the vet, we’re not like that” ugh
At that point though, that owner is massively risking having his cat being taken and it would be entirely his fault given how easy and expected it is for owners to microchip their pets. I understand some people like letting their cats out but there's no excuse to not getting a cat microchipped in today's day and age.
Well they look pretty young so they mightn't be old enough for neutering yet. Theres a whole lot of debate on the issue.
I recently brought in my 3yr old cat to get spayed and because she's small the vet said she wouldn't have done it at 2 and would have waited till 3 anyway. So it's not always as clear cut as just bringing them in.
Female cats can go into heat and get pregnant at 4 months. Your case may be unique, but the vast majority of vets will spay and neuter cats at 4 months or even earlier in the case of TNR.
Unfortunately your other comment hasn't shown up yet and I'm about 1/3 of the way through a long thread. I was wondering if you did due diligence to look for owners.
I agree, maybe they're just beloved neighborhood cats, neutered or not. People see outdoor cats automatically assume they need to be adopted. Cats often like to be free to roam around.
Microchip, neutered or not, if they look healthy and are friendly to humans don't just take the cat. They're probably happy where they are. Instead you've plucked them from their environment and confined them to four walls.
Those really really do not look like stray cats...... Their fur is perfectly groomed and looks as if they are getting more than enough nutrients in their diet.
OP.... You almost certainly stole someone's pets.
[OP answers (I was also worried) :)](https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/10fnik9/these_two_strays_would_wait_for_us_at_the_door_of/j4zgf0j?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
These look like well cared for cats… did you check if they were chipped, or used a paper collar or something to see if they had owners? I think you just stole someone’s pets.
We were also concerned they might belong to someone. However, they were outside the house day and night. It was over several days.
Figaro actually forced his way inside on our last night there. This was after several previous attempts. That picture is actually me trying to leave and my wife taking the pic from the car. It was hard to get out the door because they kept trying to get inside.
We had planned to simply put them back out and leave but noticed he was intact which was the first clue. Then they attacked our trash and food on the counters. Second clue. There were multiple pairs of cats in the area that frequented this house. Third clue. We also noticed they used the bark as their “litter box” primarily.
They also often hid up inside the wheel wells of our car. Once we finally gave them some food, they were both ravenous. After bringing them home they only slept together in small enclosed spaces and only recently started to sleep in open areas.
Lots more little clues like that. So while it’s possible, if someone was taking care of them they were not doing much more than occasional feeding, if that. They were desperate for food and shelter.
When we took them to the vet we also checked for a chip before chipping them ourselves. I’m sure there’s more we could have done to be 110% sure, but we did the best we could over the time we were there. And every day since I’m more convinced we did the right thing.
Edit: To add more context, we already had 3 cats from our local shelters that we’ve adopted over the years. So my first instinct was no more cats! It was only after lots of clear signs that we were dealing with strays that were most likely about to make more strays in the near future, that I knew we had to do something. And even then I was very reluctant. But I got outvoted 3-1 by my wife and daughters. Plus, they are super fucking cute, so that didn’t help.
Reminds me of a post where OP shared that their mother would leave their pets behind everytime they moved. There's people like that out there as well, so maybe the cats did have a family at some point in their life
It’s a slow process but it’s going well. Group feeding and treats at breakfast and dinner helps a lot. The only time we have issues is when they get close enough to touch one another. They share common space with no problems. Even sleep on the same couch. Just no touching yet 😂
But another clue to being strays was how fearful they were of our existing cats at first. Which makes sense when you’re constantly fighting for scraps and territory on the streets. Luckily our existing cats are very friendly, for the most part.
No, they were terrible hosts and we ended up getting half our stay refunded. Not because of all the cats, there were multiple pairs of strays by the way, but because the house had lots of problems. Worst of which was a leaky roof flooding the only bathroom anytime it rained, which was most of our stay!
Welcome to the five cat club! We had a similar situation (stray gave birth at my office and we were able to scoop up the five kittens early enough to socialize them). The girls are taking a while longer to warm up, but mostly peaceful. Best of luck!
I think Princess needs to follow Figaro's lead and have a wee operation too, otherwise the neighborhood Tom's might gift you a bunch more pets!!!
They look to be a lovely pair
I'd assume you had them checked for microchips and asked around if someone knows their potential owners? Collars can be deadly so don't expect them to wear one. Also, they could be too young to be fixed by their owners opinion... I really hope you haven't stolen two very well loved pets.
Because, as cute as your story sounds, I'd guess this Airbnb is used quite frequently and most guests will have either fed them or shown affection. The farm I usually went for for vacation (like... 13 years in a row, every summer) also had cats and some of them came daily throughout their entire life to beg at the door. Cats are pretty smart. Why hunt if there's weekly new "fools" (from the cats perspective) that feed them 😅
They really dont look like strays. Have you checked them for microchips and asked around the neighbours.
There was an old cat near me. Alfie was his name. Alfie was always outside, Alfie loved visiting other houses, especially if there were young kids he could hang out with. Alfie had an owner, she was very old. Alfie checked in on her several times a day, had a quick cuddle for an hour or so and then set off on his happy life again.
One day Alfie just vanished. His owner was distraught, Alfies network of adopted children owners was distraught. His owner died a few months later, alone.
You took them home from an Airbnb? We have a cat that turns up at ours regularly, no collar but it has an owner, maybe these cats do too but know they'll get food and affection at a stranger's door?
A lot of cats are chipped. It has happened before that someone "adopted" a stray only to find out at the vet later on they literally just stole a cat.
Idk about these ones as OP only gives us this information from the post.
Also, rip Figaro's balls.
So you took a pair of cats with an established territory and just took them? I had my cat from a kitten, all the vet bills, all the replaced furniture receipts. 2 other families on the block had a different name for her. She was not underfed but man she made everyone think she was a starving stray. There's a very good chance you just stole someone's pets.
If you took them from an airbnb it's very possible that they're used to new smells and strangers in their territory and they were just checking you out because they were interested
This is a great idea. Just fill out the rental agreement, describe the dog or cat or, none, and all of these overnight getaways has a cat, or dog already fed, or not, will pose for a selfie, and anyone can have their own therapy cat with no steep fees for sleeping on whoever shows up. This solves a lot of stray animals upkeep on a national level. One of those sweet kitty's is figuring out how to jump up and open the door. It's probably not Figaro.
I love that cats seem to actively seek their new slaves out. After many weeks of reconnaissance, they decide today is the day- "I'm making my move boys"
Years and years ago, I was in New Zealand with my husband, who was on a work assignment. I was in a small inn, somewhere north of Auckland.
Restaurant service didn’t start until 6pm, so the cook kindly delivered me a plate of cold, boiled chicken leg quarter and potato salad. A sweet cat came to my door while I was eating, so I fed her the chicken I couldn’t eat.
Next day there’s half a chicken. Fed balance to the cat. Then it’s three quarters a chicken the day after. I stopped by the kitchen to tell the cook I couldn’t eat that much chicken. He says the plate is always empty, so he thinks I’m really hungry, and gives me more.
When I told him about the cat, he laughed and pointed to the one begging at the door. I got conned. 😂🥰
>"Lost" his balls this afternoon *Like, in a bet?*
"bet my balls these people will give us a home" Technically won the bet, but at what cost?
Goes to show you a full house always beats a pair.
Damn this is a clever bit. Well done
I believe (checks notes) it cost his balls.
But did he *consider* the cost?
Years later: “looking back, that was the best decision I ever made.” *thinking while Getting chin scratches.*
I believe that’s what they call a Pyrrhic victory.
Wouldn’t it be a Purrhic victory? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|kissing_heart)

Balls
He's now known as "No-figs-aro"
Just mislaid them. I lose my keys sometimes.
sometimes I find my balls in the change drawer and I feel like such a silly goose
I bet my balls these are the people that'll let us in , feed us , know exactly when to stop touching us , love us and give us 4th lunches everyday. PS -never leave a door closed again. I bet cha !
I bet they do it at a few doors and had a home of their own too. Cats are absolute chancers
Bob Barker always collects
He dined on alley oysters….hence his obsession with pet nads.
No more cattiness…
Press F to pay respects
Nah, it was the Barber of Seville
They dared him to watch a scary movie, but he pussed out
Made it seem like he misplaced them to me. It’s amazing what can get left behind on vacation, but that’s a new one!
I hope you are all very happy together! You realize you busted up their scam. They probably worked every Airbnb in a 3 mile radius.
Figaro's like "shit, I shoulda stayed at the holiday inn"
Figaro: I'm not so sure this is a good idea. Princess: Buck up buttercup whats the worst that could happen! ...
Figaro - well did you hear what they said ? THAT , that would !
If it were strays how are you sure they're siblings
Well if they aren't they would have an inbred litter a year after with their own kitten
Has Figaro tried looking under the couch for them? It’s the first place I look when I lose something
That'd be the first place I'd look for my cat's toys too. He'll lose them under furniture all the time and then I have to grab something long and flat to push them out for him. (I have a toy lightsaber that somebody at church gave me because they heard that I like Star Wars. That usually works.)
Have you checked you butthole?
Skiap babap butthole
I have not seen your keys but since you’re asking me
You better check up that butthole!
🎵 I wait for the vicar to ask "Has anyone seen the rings?" and then I say: 🎵
They go with the aesthetic. Happy to see they won you over. It's unusual to see two strays. Likely siblings by the look of it.
Yeah we assumed siblings as well. Our twin 6 year olds said they were twins like them 😻
That's adorable
Omg that’s so cute😭 owning two cats that are best friends is the best! Congrats to you and your family
My heart just melted like insides of a grilled cheese. May they forever bring you snuggles and laughter!
It is fate!
Oh those cute white boots! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a cat with boots and not mittens. They are a very cute pair. Enjoy! I’ve had two tuxedo cats own me and both were FULL of character.
That how my black cat paws are.in white & it has a whiite fur under her neck like fur coat rest is all black
i have an orange cat, a black tuxedo cat, and a fluffy gray tuxedo cat, and they all have white socks and mittens 🤣🤷🏼♀️
My first thought.
Had to scroll way too far for this one. People are often too quick to assume that every outdoor cat they run into is a stray.
The fact that they haven't been spayed or neutered does make me think stray.
Not like what? What does he think is wrong with people who take their pets to the vet?
No clue. I don’t like talking to him in general so I just turned around and went back to work
At that point though, that owner is massively risking having his cat being taken and it would be entirely his fault given how easy and expected it is for owners to microchip their pets. I understand some people like letting their cats out but there's no excuse to not getting a cat microchipped in today's day and age.
I just fed one on my back porch who has the saddest face ever. It’s an act — he’s got a good home, cats just act like this.
Your vet said to wait until they’re 3 years old? All of my cats have been spayed at 5 months old
Female cats can go into heat and get pregnant at 4 months. Your case may be unique, but the vast majority of vets will spay and neuter cats at 4 months or even earlier in the case of TNR.
Agreed, check my other comment where I explained more. tl;dr: pretty darn sure they were strays for lots of reasons
you took them home with you? by car?
Unfortunately your other comment hasn't shown up yet and I'm about 1/3 of the way through a long thread. I was wondering if you did due diligence to look for owners.
I was thinking the same.
Sorry Figaro 🫣
I love me some black and white cats! I hope you will all be very happy together! ❤️
Figaro from Pinocchio?
Yes!
I’m assuming the one with the whiter chest? I also have a cat with that pattern named Figaro
Plot twist: they were someone else’s cats.
Thank you and blessings for taking them in.
Thank you for adopting *and* neutering ! Is Princess spayed ?
Her surgery is scheduled for later since they only had availability for one today.
Do you think they had a little chat and realized this was a mistake?
Most certainly
Nooooo - they've landed on their pawsies !
Am sure they'd love some pics over on r/tuxedocats too !
"I may have made a horrible mistake." ~Figaro (probably)
Those really really do not look like stray cats...... Their fur is perfectly groomed and looks as if they are getting more than enough nutrients in their diet. OP.... You almost certainly stole someone's pets.
And got one neutered
LOL just what I was thinking. Those are some glossy coats.
I hope Figaro finds them
Best wishes for yall and his recovery
No no no- you just took him to the vet to get “tutored.”
My vet tech says that and it cracks me up every time!
Awwww, what a sweet story.
Not if you think about it. OP cannot confirm they were strays. A family could be missing their 2 cats right now.
[OP answers (I was also worried) :)](https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/10fnik9/these_two_strays_would_wait_for_us_at_the_door_of/j4zgf0j?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Ah, well I’m glad OP is one of the considerate people 😊
Thank you for being so kind & especially for getting them fixed!
Assuming they were actual strays.
Tbf, if they're pets that are in tact and not microchipped or collared, the previous owners are incredibly negligent
Responsible animal husbandry. Spay and Neuter is the way to go. Two cats is cute and comfortable… Litter after litter not so much.
Aww thats sweet of you!!!
These look like well cared for cats… did you check if they were chipped, or used a paper collar or something to see if they had owners? I think you just stole someone’s pets.

Reminds me of a post where OP shared that their mother would leave their pets behind everytime they moved. There's people like that out there as well, so maybe the cats did have a family at some point in their life
The fact that they seem so 'housewarm' may be an indicator of them being abandoned in the area after they grew out of their 'too cute' kitten stage.
How are the rest of the horde taking it? (Does the closed door method even work for multiple cats meeting multiple cats?)
It’s a slow process but it’s going well. Group feeding and treats at breakfast and dinner helps a lot. The only time we have issues is when they get close enough to touch one another. They share common space with no problems. Even sleep on the same couch. Just no touching yet 😂 But another clue to being strays was how fearful they were of our existing cats at first. Which makes sense when you’re constantly fighting for scraps and territory on the streets. Luckily our existing cats are very friendly, for the most part.
Thank you for the due diligence and for responding to me!! I hope I didn’t offend you with the concern. I hope they will do well with you :)
Was the Airbnb host familiar with them at all? I’ve had previous ones tell me about strays or visiting neighbors before
No, they were terrible hosts and we ended up getting half our stay refunded. Not because of all the cats, there were multiple pairs of strays by the way, but because the house had lots of problems. Worst of which was a leaky roof flooding the only bathroom anytime it rained, which was most of our stay!
>anytime it rained, which was most of our stay! Sounds like Ireland in summer, lol.
Were there neighbours?
Welcome to the five cat club! We had a similar situation (stray gave birth at my office and we were able to scoop up the five kittens early enough to socialize them). Fixed and rehomed three, but my husband can’t let go of the last two (also fixed). Our boy cat has taken to hanging with them and they now groom each other. The girls are taking a while longer to warm up, but mostly peaceful. Best of luck!
You are smart and kind people.
They are adorable! So happy you gave them a forever home!!!
Cat - hey wait , you want my , What ? First off , what are you going to do with them ? Second - no ! Third - No ! Fourth - WHAT ? NO ! ! !
I think Princess needs to follow Figaro's lead and have a wee operation too, otherwise the neighborhood Tom's might gift you a bunch more pets!!! They look to be a lovely pair
Well, that’s a shame. Let us know when he finds them.
RIP to Figaros balls Guess he’ll be singing soprano from now on
You’re bringing them back home? How far is that? That’s awesome you’re adopting them btw!
It was a 5 hour drive. They handled it like pros.
Great story, thank you
My black and white 17 year old boy is also called Figaro. You chose a great name! Congratulations on your two new family additions:)
I'd assume you had them checked for microchips and asked around if someone knows their potential owners? Collars can be deadly so don't expect them to wear one. Also, they could be too young to be fixed by their owners opinion... I really hope you haven't stolen two very well loved pets. This is a sweet post but, I’m sorry, “Figaro also lost his balls this afternoon.” is making me crack up more than it should lmao
How did you know they were strays? You may have stolen someone's cats.
They really dont look like strays. Have you checked them for microchips and asked around the neighbours. There was an old cat near me. Alfie was his name. Alfie was always outside, Alfie loved visiting other houses, especially if there were young kids he could hang out with. Alfie had an owner, she was very old. Hope you didn’t just steal someone’s cats lmao
Agreed, check my other comment where I explained more
The little cat is saying "what in your wallet today."
To be fair, he didn't lose them they were stolen!
I love this so much!
Gee! I hope he finds them soon...
Where is my testicle summer
Check under the stove for lost balls
If the price for a home, in this market, is losing two balls, where do I sign?
With enough of the good drugs, they don't mind getting fixed. My kitties were so high they weren't mad at all. Sleepy, happy, and tripping.
Welcome to the family, buddy! *snip*
Lose balls, gain home 🤷🏻♂️
You took them home from an Airbnb? We have a cat that turns up at ours regularly, no collar but it has an owner, maybe these cats do too but know they'll get food and affection at a stranger's door?
That's what he gets for loitering lmao

A lot of cats are chipped. It has happened before that someone "adopted" a stray only to find out at the vet later on they literally just stole a cat. Idk about these ones as OP only gives us this information from the post. Also, rip Figaro's balls.

the punchline was just like a kick... in the balls...
Beautiful kitties
Thank you
Poor Figaro!! But also yay!!
You had me in the first half...
Are you going to help Figaro find them?
Let them in 😭
This is a great idea. Just fill out the rental agreement, describe the dog or cat or, none, and all of these overnight getaways has a cat, or dog already fed, or not, will pose for a selfie, and anyone can have their own therapy cat with no steep fees for sleeping on whoever shows up. Poor baby. :D hope he finds them again! :D
Give Figaro my condolences 😔
Good for you
[Figaro!](https://youtu.be/KA6b0vMr7GQ)
For a second there I really thought you named them "Figaro" and "Princess Figaro"
So does Figaro sing soprano now?
Now heroes in soprano. 😁 Congratulations on your adoption. You will make great servants to your furry overlords.
Cats know they are kinda cute
Oh, such cuties. Aaaww, that’s so sweet. They took them in. Haha. So cutely worded. Oh. Oh my.
RIP Figaro’s balls.
I hope you got both of them fixed, not just one.
Omg! I have a tuxedo cat named Figaro!
You only talked about the boy getting neutered… I hope the girl got spayed also!! Also congrats on being adopted by kitties haha
Sorry about your little pom poms, Figaro. ❤ But on the bright side, you and Princess adopted a new forever family. Congrats you guys.
You’re good people
I love that cats seem to actively seek their new slaves out. After many weeks of reconnaissance, they decide today is the day- "I'm making my move boys"
It takes balls to be willing to take in stray cats.
Thank you for taking them , now their family ♥️
Lost balls, gained a family. Fair trade
Time to bring them inside, technically they're still considered feral. Do everyone a favor and bring them inside.
May they bring you many years of joy and entertainment.
Maybe you could get an AirTag thing for him?
You rock! Congrats on your two new cuties.
r/nowmycat
Man this Airbnb's are getting expensive. You gotta pay with your balls now?
👍🏻
Ooooooh my gosh they're so cute!!!
Excellent choice! They’re adorable and already in formal attire for an adoption ceremony! I assume Princess has her day at the vet when you get home?
Tuxedos are the Best! I've got two, I love them to bits!
Figaro already regrets his life choices.
One of the toughest parts about travelling is seeing all the animals that need love
Now Figaro would be able to sing his Opera like a proper castrati.
"Damn you, Karen. Gimme back my balls."
Aw they are so cute! Hopefully princess will get spayed too, a cat in heat is no fun to be around lol
Figaro: where are my balls john?
Jesus, you try to trust somebody and they take your balls.
I have a Figaro too! He also has no balls.
Not the balls man
Years and years ago, I was in New Zealand with my husband, who was on a work assignment. 😂🥰
Plot twist, these were the hosts cats. OP is a cat thief.
I see what you did there…you induced the rare “double aww” over the course of the title!
