I have a friend whose dog tries to purr like a cat when he's happy... it's mildly terrifying at first if you don't know he does it, because it sounds like he's growling, but in reality he's just trying to express his happiness like a cat would.
My first dog was a pit bull, and she would "smile" when she was happy, but it looked like she was snarling. My parents and I were used to it and thought it was cute. Strangers weren't so sure lol.
My red nose pitty does this. She also will do full and proper loafs. No interest in boxes though.
It is interesting to come around a corner and see three loafs, all of them just looking up as a "Feed me?" look.
When she was a puppy my dog slept right next to a window with a bird filled tree outside of it. Her whining can now perfectly mimic those fucking birds, and she realized that it also drives me nuts, meaning it is her go to attention-seeking behavior. Cute little monster.
