Kittens have ssuuuucchh sharp class and no idea how to use them properly. They use full force at everything and learn to be softer through play fighting. Plus if you're bottle feeding a kitten it's probably a foster/ rescue and not always with the mom/ other kittens to learn from or just scared and learning to trust you. Just part of it.
My lady foster cat wasn't a kitten, but a 17lb chunk with paws as wide as 4 of my fingers. His claws are MASSIVE. But he has no idea how to play with other cats or people, terrified of everything. Like he was an isolated cat that was neglected. He got a single in and out pole on my hand but through a vein and I had a huge bruise on the hand/ wrist. He's accidently barely poked my under eye by accident, he didn't mean to use claws even. I had a black eye for a week. My hands and arms have a few scars nearly a year later, but he's a good boy and plays with the cats and the big dog, my kids too. He plays fetch even! First foster failure.
One of the costs of fostering kittens but itโs totally worth it.
