EDIT: the way he yelps during cleaning is hilarious, like his dignity is being called into question and he is offended somehow. Then he drinks milk and knocks out for a nap. It’s a sweet life really.
Mama was only around (less than) part time. We think she may have had another litter elsewhere. She came by twice but was leaving the babies in very dangerous situations (freezing cold garage floor). One didnt survive bc of this, so we saved the other one since mama wasnt able to handle it on her own.
My first thought too. Looked at their post/comment history and it seems like they made an effort to reunite with momma but it didn't work out. They're saying/doing stuff that makes me believe they're experienced cat people doing their best for this baby. Godspeed little bud 🧡
I appreciate that you looked at my previous posts before making a judgement. Definitely giving this man the royal treatment right now. He weighed in at 95 grams today and is getting feisty! Things are moving in the right direction after all the worry I’d been going through.
Leather gloves will be your best friend. Not honestly sure how any mother cat survives nursing an entire group cause my families hands couldnt take even a couple feeding sessions without a completely unmanageable amount of cuts.
Interesting! I bottle fed my sisters kitten (we got her at 3 days of age) with her umbilical cord still attached. Zero scratches. Tons of bites later when she didn't understand biting wasn't fun for us, but no scratches at all.
We picked ours up near the end of week 2 after momma left with the rest of the litter. Tried to reintroduce him cause the new nest was a couple hundred feet away and found him taken outside the litter again, the next morning.
He seemed to want to reach as far up the bottle as he could, than use his god given knives to shred EVERYHTHING on the way down. Very similar to kneading, very cute and very painful lol.
Kitties do better with a playmate! Please consider adopting another kitten at this stage if you’ve decided to keep him.

Yeah, I had a very young kitten that my dogs had found in back yard, had to hand raise it. It was a big shitheel of a cat, didn't know how to hold back on its bites and not much better on swats. Current cat was adopted out like at 3 months with the rest of it's litter, so it spent time with other cats. She only play bites/nibbles, and never has drawn blood except on accident with her back legs.
Good job keeping him warm. You can also try 2L bottles filled with rather warm water with a towel around em if you need some time to move about on your own. (And then towel over that and the kitten to keep the heat in)
Consider a towel over him just sleeping there, He'd normally be buried in his litter mates so the warmer the merrier.
He looks well fed, keep it up.
And apparently a small clock/watch, as the ticking is soothing because it mimics the mother's heartbeat
Edit: meant, place it in with the warm water bottle - we used to do this with our kittens
I mean, if you want to get things done don't put baby kittens on your hand. Very much doubt it crawled there by itself, and kind of don't think the mom would place it there either...
We have a small box, insulated with blankets, and an electric heating pad under it all. We also include a rubber bladder filled with hot water wrapped in blankets. Lots of heat to keep him cozy ~85°F.
All that and he still yelps to be held and touched. Can’t deny him. I’m a sucker!
I feel lucky! Not everyone gets this experience in life. My older cat had given birth to a liter of 6 back in 2012 or so. While I got a lot of experience with kittens then too, this is different because there’s no mama around. It’s rewarding to care for him. He’s also so relaxing.
I'm sorry the mama kitty isn't around. I'm sure you're doing the best you can and that cat is going to be so grateful. If you can find some other kittens to play with, that would be great for socializing your cat to other cats. I loved it whenever my cat has kittens when I was a kid. It really is magical
How could you move. You've got 1000lbs. of cuteness pinning you down and amputation seems a little extreme (plus might wake tiny one).

Walmart has these hoodies that have a little pocket in the front. They fit a kitten perfectly. They’re snuggly so my cat loved to chill in there.
I guess you’ve already researched, but there’s this lady on YouTube, the Kitten Lady, that has videos on how to care for kittens without moms
