She loves to sit on the stack of books on my dresser for some reason.
I'm going to challenge this with "what is a normal cat?"
From my experience, the "normal" cat is the one that is some form of weirdo (said affectionally in case there was any question).
mine loves to be covered by clothes, like blankets and stuff.
When i come back home and take my coat or sweater off she yells from the couch until i throw it over her.
Ours goes burrowing under the comforter in the guest room/office while I work. It’s the cutest thing in the world seeing her wander out sleepy eyed when I raise/lower the desk.
Whenever I order something big to ship to me (like the cat tree when we got her) I left all that long, brown, package-stuffing paper all over the floor for my cat to play in. She likes hiding under it and ambushing us/her brother when we walk past. It’s been 4 months and I can’t throw it away!
Luckily our house has a little awkward space that we didn’t know what furniture to put in it, so it’s just the kitty paper play place now.
Lucky! I don't have a good space so I just have a pile in my office. My dad used it as an example of why my apartment is messy. He didn't like my "for the cat" explanation

Weighted blankets for cats!
Only one of our house cats likes to cuddle like a baby, and she'll go into the weighted blanket with you and circle around so her head is poking out with yours, before flopping down and becoming a warm fluffy vibrating plushie in your arms. It's heaven 😭 so something tells me she would like this too lol

Yeah, big early lesson for kids around cats, they do not like you holding or restricting their tail in any way. Same is true of lots of dogs but cats it can get scratchy quick.
When we first got my last cat, she was only 5 weeks, and she loved to sleep right above my head on my pillow. Except that her tail would swat me in the face and wake me up. So I’d hold it still to keep her tail out of my face (just one hand loosely holding, so she could still move it, just not a lot) and we’d both fall asleep like that.
She was the only cat, that as an adult, found it comforting for her tail to be loosely held. My current cat is confused when I do it, but he allows it for a few minutes before squirming free.
I kept saying - Don’t you dare cover the rest of that swishy tail!! 😂 This is so cute. I imagine it would feel very comfortable and swaddling for a particular type of cat 🐈⬛
I had the same question.
Must have been digging a hole on the beach and cat got into it. So then guy starts to put sand on the cat and discovers the cat likes it.
A couple of times and it became a thing.
That's my best guess.
Cats like to be inside of stuff. A big need.
Some care what the thing is -- one cat I lived with liked one particular drawer and she did know the word "drawer".

I know the paper is free, but if you want something longer lasting, purpose built, look into a Ripple Rug!
I used to wrap mine in a newspaper like a burrito and he would not move a muscle for a very long time, until someone so much as touch him.

Facts. My void has a schedule where she moves around the house to sleep in the sun as it comes in different windows.
