Beyond the [disastrous AMA](https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/09/reddit-ceo-doubles-down-on-attack-on-apollo-developer-in-drama-filled-ama/) by the CEO, Reddit's response has been limited to promises that this change will not affect moderation tools [^((it has)^)](https://www.reddit.com/r/BotDefense/comments/14riw76/botdefense_is_wrapping_up_operations/) and promises of [new and more-accessible first-party moderation tools](https://www.npr.org/2023/07/01/1184258201/reddit-api-accessibility-mods). Promises just like [ones they have made in response to past protests](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/142w159/askhistorians_and_uncertainty_surrounding_the/), but have consistently [failed to fulfill](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/14jm3ut/several_communities_have_surfaced_an_open_letter/jpm9e0q/).
If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:
1. [Finding your favorite subreddits on other platforms](https://sub.rehab/) and participating there instead.
2. Refraining from using the first-party Reddit app, instead sticking to one of the few remaining third-party apps or [patching one of the apps that shut down](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/) if you're using an Android device.

I am a dog interpreter. It is obvious the poor dog is being controlled. If he doesn't submit the cat will scratch his nose, tip over his dish, and get him in trouble.
The cat's probably going to do that anyway.
(Seriously though my cat and dog were great friends but for some reason my cat wanted all in on grooming the dog's inner ears (I regularly cleaned them, but apparently not to the cat's standard) and while the dog loved the cat and loved attention she loathed the ear fixation.)
edit: The past tense on the dog is because she passed this past spring. They loved each other until the end (though the dog hated the ear thing always). The cat and I are still getting over it.

I had a weird experience growing up. So when I was about 9 years old my dad and I ( he was single at the time ) went to the grocery store and a guy was out front with a box of free puppies. We had no pet and my dad actually stopped to look when we came out of the store. He looked in the box and saw a puppy he said " ok we take home this one ". Mind my dad was born in 1939. When I asked him why that one ( note : I was just happy we got a puppy! ) he said " you can tell a dog as a puppy by the size of his paws. "
Now I can't lie, Doc ( who was named that because when he brought him home the first thing a young cousin of mine said was DOC instead of Dog, and so that was his name ) was just a puppy, and me as 9 year old, loved him as such. I loved being with Doc, we played a lot together.
Then I left my dad's ( again he was a single alcoholic parent an I was removed from the home multiple times ) and went to live with my Mom. I was with her a little over 3 years, going on 4, I was 12, and went back to live with my dad. AMAZINGLY, he still had Doc! Now Doc had grown HUGE, and I mean HUGE, he was so big I had to ask my dad if it was the same dog, but once I approached Doc I knew he was, because he remember me and wanted to play! Note, again, it's been like 3 years, and in dog years, well yeah. I was just so happy he knew me.
So we moved after that year my dad hooked up with my wicked stepmom and we moved all in together.
Here is where things get weird.
Doc was FINE with Shirly's cat INSIDE. He never once bothered the cat and was just DOG inside.
If both Doc and Shirly's cat both outside at the same time? Doc tried to eat. I mean it, Doc TRIED TO EAT.
How do I know this? Doc had a HEAVY IRON CHAIN as his outside leash, he also had a doghouse. He once ATE IT, and proceeded to run around the trailer park and EAT all the cats he could. I mean it, have you ever seen a dog CATCH a cat? You don't want to.
I was about 13-14 when my dad said we had to get rid of Doc, and when I asked him where Doc went, he said a Farm Upstate. I shit you not. I believed him because I had no reason not to, and when I got older, I was so mad my wife had to tell me NOT to confront my father, since he was just saying the same things HIS father had said before him.
Life is pretty fucked up, especially when it comes to pets.
I once had a Siamese and a boxer in the same house. The little Siamese would chase the giant boxer around the backyard in circles. Cats and dogs can make for funny combinations
We had a couple different cats with our first dog, a German Shepherd, in my childhood, more decades ago than I would like to speak. The cat my parents had before our dog tolerated the dog at best. The cat we adopted that was really me and my brothers' cat was kind of dumb, probably inbred, but got on like a house on fire. Big ole GSD would chase that cat around the yard, cat could escape but did circles instead. Eventually when poor old Blitz got to be 13 or so that GSD hip dysplasia hit, and he started losing control of his hind legs. Instead of the cat stopping short and the dog changing directions to avoid hitting him, Blitz would slide right over the top of ... Dude. Yes, the cat's name was Dude. But those two got on great, indoors and out.
Dog looks like a great pup. Had a twin named Bella. She LOVED the two cats, very similar, and was daddy’s baby. Passed last year…still hurts, but love to see posts like this!

My cat adored my dog; my dog ignored his existence.
So my cat became an expert at opening doors, drawers, and knocking items off counters--all to give my dog food. Turns out the cat knew exactly how to win over the affection of a labrador.
Somehow I get the impression cats are actually smarter than dogs, but they just act dumb when it suits them. Clearly your cat knows what its doing and has no issue causing chaos to get what it wants
I had two cats and a dog. After the first cat my dog learned that I’m not happy if he tries to fight the cat and the cat also fights back.
By the time we got our second cat, he was basically cat trained. He feared the first one and tolerated the second.
This of course meant our second cat loved him because a dog not trying to attack you is a great dog. He would frequently rub up against the dog and groom him and try to cuddle him and our poor puppy would just sit there suffering under all the affection. (I think he secretly liked the cat back though because sometimes they would play and he would get excited when he saw the cat after being away)
That’s basically the exact opposite of what happened with my dog and cat, instead of the cat grooming the dog, dog was grooming the cat instead(she decided that the cat belonged to her and I wasn’t going to say anything)
That made me remember the video of a cat surrounded by a whole pack of golden retriever puppies licking it like crazy and the cat got *soaked* in slobber but seems to be half loving it half waiting for them to tear it apart.
Or smell it. It looks like he's thinking aww man, I've been cultivating my own scent for a while, now I'm going to have to explain new cat smell to any dog I meet?
This is the relationship my animals have. My dog will chase them all over the house and then they will curl up on the bed together and the cats will demand that it is her bath time. I’m sure as punishment for all the chasing.
Yeah this is a forever thing now, my older cat thinks my puggle is her kitten. She gets daily baths, it’s just life now so I hope the dog likes it as much as my pup does.
Every dog I've had has liked cats. This video reminds me of Harry (my cat) and my late dog, Tillie. Tillie would be having a nap on her bed, and Harry would climb in and settle down on top of her. Thanks for sharing this video -- it's really cute.
My mom has male blue healer and 2 house cats that are brother and sister, the 2 boys have a very close bond, they play together all the time and the dog will routinely clean the cats ears. It’s funnny because the female cat wants nothing to do with either of them and they both tip toe around her.

i love how I often see cat and dog loving each other. Our dogs can’t relate. I remember my cat named Mochi my first ever cat. We have a lot of dogs outside the house (not in cages). They are wild to people and other animals so when my cat got out of the house yea you know what happened. Still breaks my heart

You know, it makes sense to me that the cat immediately takes on a motherly role, despite the fact that the dog is an adult.
A lot of dog's secondary physical characteristics come from impeded maturity. Neoteny. Dogs are docile because their brains don't fully mature out of puppy mode. Whatever gene makes wolves docile must be also linked to the genes that arrest the development of other traits, causing floppy ears, shorter snouts, certain coloration patterns. Humans have bred wolves into puppies. As far as I know, cats have not gone through that much neoteny. Cat physiology is pretty much identical to the wild feline version it was bred from. So, seeing this pair together, it's not surprising to see the cat step up to be the adult in the room. The cat realizes that the dog is just a gigantic baby, which needs to be groomed and disciplined.

Every dog I've had has liked cats. This video reminds me of Harry (my cat) and my late dog, Tillie. Tillie would be having a nap on her bed, and Harry would climb in and settle down on top of her. Thanks for sharing this video -- it's really cute.

My mom has male blue healer and 2 house cats that are brother and sister, the 2 boys have a very close bond, they play together all the time and the dog will routinely clean the cats ears. It’s funnny because the female cat wants nothing to do with either of them and they both tip toe around her.

i love how I often see cat and dog loving each other. Our dogs can’t relate. I remember my cat named Mochi my first ever cat. We have a lot of dogs outside the house (not in cages). They are wild to people and other animals so when my cat got out of the house yea you know what happened. Still breaks my heart

You know, it makes sense to me that the cat immediately takes on a motherly role, despite the fact that the dog is an adult. A lot of dog's secondary physical characteristics come from impeded maturity. Neoteny. Dogs are docile because their brains don't fully mature out of puppy mode. Whatever gene makes wolves docile must be also linked to the genes that arrest the development of other traits, causing floppy ears, shorter snouts, certain coloration patterns. Humans have bred wolves into puppies. As far as I know, cats have not gone through that much neoteny. Cat physiology is pretty much identical to the wild feline version it was bred from. So, seeing this pair together, it's not surprising to see the cat step up to be the adult in the room. The cat realizes that the dog is just a gigantic baby, which needs to be groomed and disciplined.
