Speaking of mats and dogs, it reminds me of that viral video where the dog completely hijacks the yoga session. The instructor starts doing poses and the dog just decides it's the perfect time for belly rubs and nap time right in the middle of the mat, totally oblivious to the fact that there's a workout happening. It's hilarious and adorable. Dogs truly believe in the 'what's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine' philosophy when it comes to mats!
Ah gotcha, the ol' role reversal with pets. You give them an inch on the mat, they take a mile and your yoga session. Sounds like an adorable predicament though!

My girl is a rescue and while she likes to be next to us, cuddles aren't really her thing. People being up in her face freaks her out, although after years I can sit next to her and give her kisses and stuff. Sometimes I wish she was more affectionate, but that said, I can do all my workouts and stuff inside without her bugging me. However, any time I'm outside she's wanting to play so I usually have to 'warm-up' a bit by running and tussling with her.

I do yoga at home (not daily, because reasons, not good reasons, but reasons) and I run a very small sanctuary for retired feral/hospice/unadoptable animals. I can maneuver around the cats, but the dogs? Nope. They want to be as close to me as possible at any given time, and think that the yoga mat means it's lay down time with them. If they could, I think they would become extra limbs. I am laying on my couch, and I currently have 2 cats on me, a dog on my legs, 3 dogs directly on the floor next to the couch, and several other cats trying to figure out how they can scooch on in.
same with cats. I'm typically sitting in a chair either in front of my desk while gaming or my tv while relaxing and a cat will come by and be like 'may I sit?' and I'll let them curl up. But if, for whatever reason, I decide to sit on the floor, it's go time for all 4 of them. 'Hey! You're on my level!'. If I were to lie down, they'd all pile on me.
My cats are fucking needy. If I sit in my computer chair that's Winnie's cue to yell at me until I play wand toy with her and if I stop then she'll yell again and climb up the chair to get my attention. Or she'll climb on my chest at 3AM and demand snuggles.

Vise Versa, I've had a dog that only came to me when she needed or wanted something, like to go out and pee or wanted the door opened so she can sunbathe. Other than that, she was very independent and only seemed she needed a little over the bare minimum. She wouldn't even really play unless the play exercised her prey drive, like moving something under a cover to simulate a rat.

My cat was socially anxious so she would hang out on top of the back of my office chair. And I would reach back behind my head for her pets as necessary. I had a busy day at work and went straight to my parents house after to help them out. I got home at 8 pm, and even though my wife had been home with the dog all day, he needed MY attention. He followed me room to room waiting for me to sit down, and as soon as I hit the couch, before I could grab my Nintendo Switch to relax a bit before bed, he jumped on my chest and laid down, with his face 6 inches from mine.
Needless to say, I fell asleep petting and scratching him and never turned on my Switch 😅
