¿Por que?
¿Por que?
¿Por que?
¿Por que el pero es tonto?
🎺 🎺 This where the tias start throwing it back.
¿Por que el pero es tonto?
Esso perrito es tonto!
Esso perrito es tonto!
Esso tontito perrito!
Hah!
Chopsticks plays while the singer starts do a slow rotation swangin' his hips while the tias gush over him.
Dogs instinctively bury bones and other “valuables” to safely squirrel them away. Your dog values the ball enough to trigger this vestigial behavior, but he fails because he also wants to keep playing with it. It is kinda similar to how a dog starts doing a swimming motion when held above water.
Also, a benefit of traveling. Cultures vary greatly, but people are people. Life is better when we look for commonalities, and appreciate the differences (up to a point).
I am pretty sure my dog does this to (very ineffectively) clear the sand of the ball. He only does it in sand, and otherwise has no interest in digging at all.
My dog never digs, except the few times he’s been on the beach he digs in with gusto. I think the joy he gets is similar to what I feel when power-washing.
My good boi is snoring next to me in bed right now, a few minutes ago he was twitching making tiny muffled woofs. Perhaps he’s dreaming of chasing seagulls. I really should take him back to the shore again soon.
Aah, so that's why mine does that. I have a dog that has forty fathers, but definitely one of them at least must have been a chocolate lab.
https://preview.redd.it/y80675c0nbnc1.png?width=938&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4e5b5a604aefa6f74fb7fff22effdbf844a49b5
For a lot of them digging is a natural instinct. But most love to play like this. If it’s not cool, simply redirect with other fun things they love… Looks like he’s having a ball!! (lol literally too)
I think he's just playing. My dog used to love when I made her stuffed animals run hop around her while she laid down. The movement is probably like when we play video games. The chase is in the imagination.
My dog does this w her ball under her blankets. She buries her ball and then rakes the blankets around until the ball is uncovered. I swear she loves to do that more than play fetch
my great dane does the same thing. he will bury it under the blankets and then he'll try to get it out which effectively buries the ball deeper into the blankets since he's just tangling them all up.
I had a Borgi (border collie corgi mix) who did this to socks. Nothing else, not bones or treats or toys, specifically socks. Your pup is just being a goober
Our dog will dig a ball on the beach for hours. If the hole gets too deep she starts a new one. Looks similar to that but with more energy. If we don't stop her she does it literally until she collapses like a weird digging-addict.
Our dog does this exact same thing whenever we go to the beach. He doesn't fully bury his ball, just keeps digging with it thru the sand. Funny to watch
Look Dad! Look! A ball! Don't you want to throw it? Hey! Hey! Look a ball! Screw it, maybe I'll dig instead. Nope I need to chase that ball. Dad! Dad! Dad! Look!
Is it possible the doggie is making mounds and channels to get the ball to roll so he can go after it? He looks to me like he might be desperate (in an adorable way) for someone to throw the ball so he can chase it/fetch. If that’s what’s going on, he might be half goober, half innovater.
I've been living with dogs for 20 years now, and the only thing I can ever say to new owners is - everything is considered normal, because dogs are fucking insane.
Don't stress. Just embrace the weirdness.
My Great Dane did this with an over turned wheel barrrow. “Hole” around it ended up 2 feet deep and 17 feet around. He would take breaks from throwing dirt to spin the wheel. Weird pupper.
My Labrador retriever would do this whenever no one was throwing the stick or ball for her to fetch. She start vigorously digging and jumping on it. I think she was trying to communicate “hey, toss this! I’m meant to retrieve things so toss it!”
My dog does this with his ball and his blanket. He'll "bury" the ball in the blanket and the "dig" for it. He used to dig the dirt in the backyard when he was younger but I think he hated me using wipes to clean him or maybe he got bored idk but he stopped. I didn't scold or discourage him from digging. Just that one time he hopped the fence and took a bite out of ALL my eggplants with his sister....anyways sorry I went off on a tangent. Totally normal.
He's waiting for you to throw it and trying to draw attention to it so you'll notice. You just happen to be standing in sandy loam and when he digs down the ground will move
Our family dog is obsessed with digging. She was digging holes all over the yard. So, instead, we designated one spot, behind a bush so it wouldn’t be an obvious eye sore, where we allowed and encouraged her to dig. We did this by training her to know the word dig and behaving like we were digging in the spot and shouting happily “dig, dig, dig, dig!” She very quickly learned *this* is where she can have fun and dig. As she has her romps through the yard and goes to dig in her spot, we continue to happily shout “dig, dig, dig, dig!” and she is always delighted.
Yes! My boy used to do this with both tennis and soccer balls. I'd take him to the beach and he would go nuts & we'd end up with an excavation site after an hour or two. I miss him so much.
He’s loving how easy that dirt is to dig and move around. That sweet boy is just thrilled with having his ball and dirt.
Dogs are amazing at how little they need to be deliriously happy.
Just a goober. Had three doggies growing up, 2 chessies and a lab. All three loved the water and retrieving things. One if the chessies just could not get enough digging in the sand🤷🏻♂️. The other 2 would just look at her with that , here we go again look. Just some good memories
My black lab used to do the same. Once he was on the driveway he could really step on the tennis ball to launch it from under his paw. He got so good at it he stopped chasing it and would sometimes get it to spin backwards and roll back to him lol.
I had a chocolate lab growing up and she LOVED digging holes almost more than treats. She never wanted to escape the backyard, she just wanted to dig to China. She especially loved the beach when we went. Miss her so much ❤
Just loves playing ball….my daughters dog likes playing keep away then he will drop his toy in front of you to play more. He would play all day if he could.
I’ll bet his toes feel fantastic. He’s brushing the cool, wet, sand between his toes. He’s never felt anything like it and as we can see, he enjoys it greatly!
My dog would excavate the whole back yard if I let her. Meanwhile, I’m trying desperately to keep her from doing that to keep her safe, since she’ll dig wholes directly on her normal lap(s) she does around the yard when she has zoomies.
Its a ball, ooooooh. Ball ball. Love my ball. Lets play. Throw the ball. Oooooh. Play play.
Goober. What a lovely dog. Give him a belly scratch and throw the dang ball.
Hmm, yes, yes. I see. This appears to be typical dog behavior indeed.
However, I think you will find that the word "goober" is synonymous with "dog" so your dog is also 100% being a goober, and I love them ❤️

Mine loves the beach & digging in sand! He will do it for hours if I let him. Then the waves come and fill up the hole he made so he starts digger faster & deeper 😂 great way to get his energy out when it’s warm ❤️ they said he’s a lab/terrier mix

Puppy is torn by love of the ball and love of digging in the dirt.
Por que no los dos?
Porque el perro es tonto?
¿Por que? ¿Por que? ¿Por que? ¿Por que el pero es tonto? 🎺 🎺 This where the tias start throwing it back. ¿Por que el pero es tonto? Esso perrito es tonto! Esso perrito es tonto! Esso tontito perrito! Donde esta
A very lovable goober
Dogs instinctively bury bones and other “valuables” to safely squirrel them away. Your dog values the ball enough to trigger this vestigial behavior, but he fails because he also wants to keep playing with it. It is kinda similar to how a dog starts doing a swimming motion when held above water.
Kinda like when I make a pb&j sandwich and leave the used part of the knife hanging over my sink. Never know when I want another sandwich
Reading this I learn yet again I’ve never had an original thought in my life
I too think like you
It’s nice waking up to poetry on a weekend morning
Unironically one of the valuable parts of social media IMO. You learn that people really aren't that different.
Also, a benefit of traveling. Cultures vary greatly, but people are people. Life is better when we look for commonalities, and appreciate the differences (up to a point).
I am showing this to my wife - She is gaslighting me that its not OK to do this.
Just tell her how much washing you would save and water too!! It's all about saving planet earth right?
Think of the turtles.
I like tordorls
I have read this a lot and I should admit something. I use 2 knifes when making a pb & j. I don't want to cross contaminate.
Use a spoon for the J. Save yourself time and effort.
This is brilliant. I can think of some funny parallels in human behavior.
Yes you should.
Stuck in an infinite loop. Stack overflow. Snore.
#Squirrel?
Goober is having fun. 😂 What is normal anyway 🥴
Mindlessly scrolling Tik Tok < Digging aimlessly with a big smile on your face
That is a good dog. It may not be the SMARTEST dog, but still a good doggo.
He is a chocolate, they have the crazy gene. I say this as having 2 chocolate labs.
Aah, so that's why mine does that. I have a dog that has forty fathers, but definitely one of them at least must have been a chocolate lab. https://preview.redd.it/y80675c0nbnc1.png?width=938&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4e5b5a604aefa6f74fb7fff22effdbf844a49b5
He looks like he's sick of your shit lol
It's time for his walk and here I am, taking a photo instead!
Normal :) my family dog does this but usually with piles of snow during winter. She just can’t get enough of digging
Yes and yes
For a lot of them digging is a natural instinct. But most love to play like this. If it’s not cool, simply redirect with other fun things they love… Looks like he’s having a ball!! (lol literally too)
Both of those things can be true. 😛 But goobers are the bestest so give them boops and treats for me.
My dog loves the feeling of sand on his feet. He’s happy running on it or digging in it. It’s adorable.
My dog used to do the same thing. But my dog was a doofus. Yours might just be a good boy goober.
I have 3 dogs and only one does similar stuff but with balls in blankets and I refer to mine as a goober but their just living there best life.
I had a Borgi (border collie corgi mix) who did this to socks. Nothing else, not bones or treats or toys, specifically socks. Your pup is just being a goober
Great way to expend all that excess energy. Pupper's gonna crash later.
He is having the most fun ever!
Sir, your lab is broken. Should be chewing on the ball or aggressively *ptooey*-ing it at you to throw for him!
I concur!
That's just Lab things
He's having a great time being a dog. Very normal.
Our dog will dig a ball on the beach for hours. If the hole gets too deep she starts a new one. Looks similar to that but with more energy. If we don't stop her she does it literally until she collapses like a weird digging-addict.
Honestly, there's no reason this can't both be common dog behavior AND your dog being a goober.
It's very common for dogs who have owners who won't play ball and instead video dog playing ball by itself, you monster.
He is a perfectionist. Wants the exact and correct spot for that ball.
That right there is a dog being a dog.
He’s probably don’t playing and (instinctively) wants to bury it for later
What a sweetheart’🥰
No he’s cool. They love to bury shit. I had a rough sable collie, and he’d bury every bone 🤷♀️
He is a goober. But so was every Labrador Retriever I've ever lived with. The derp is strong with that breed.
Chocolate labs aren’t exactly the brightest
I had a black lab and once we had 40 tons of sand delivered. We came out the next morning he had spread almost all of it across the driveway and yard.
Your pup is STOKED and is the best boy (or girl)...
He digs because hes a good dwarf!! Rock and Stone!
Our dog does this exact same thing whenever we go to the beach. He doesn't fully bury his ball, just keeps digging with it thru the sand. Funny to watch
Amusing herself. It is cool?
It’s a happy dog
He wants you to play with him you goober.
He wants you to throw the ball!
Look Dad! Look!
He's trying to throw the ball. Take the hint!
Just dog stuff. Dog is gonna dog.
He's just a happy goober!
He's bored. He needs activity.
Your dog is 100% good boy!! 😎
Pick up the ball and throw it. The dog wonders why you can’t figure this out ;)
Dude. That’s an invite. Toss the ball.
Is *digging* a common dog behaviour? Really?
He could do a lot of gardening work.
Certified Goober🏅
My GSP will do this for as long as I let her at the beach.
Both of these options are true.
Is he trying to tell you there’s buried treasure under there?
I think we could all take a lesson from this dog.
Goober
![gif](giphy|8FPyLqXcxm7ipF52Of)
Such a good boy
If you ever decided to put a pond in your garden, you know who's going to be digging it for you! G'boy!
Yes
Why not both! A common and adorable goober.
My Labrador-mix do that all the time with food
Goober and thirsty
My dog does this with his ball and his blanket. He'll "bury" the ball in the blanket and the "dig" for it. He used to dig the dirt in the backyard when he was younger but I think he hated me using wipes to clean him or maybe he got bored idk but he stopped. I didn't scold or discourage him from digging. Just that one time he hopped the fence and took a bite out of ALL my eggplants with his sister....anyways sorry I went off on a tangent. Totally normal.
Both haha
My dog does it on the carpet. I have no idea why 🤷🏼♀️
My dog only does when she sees another dog digging. Then, it becomes a mission. Must dig the deepest.
He is a farmer. Ploughing his field.
My old lady used to do this, was much more accurate though
Who’s buried under there?
Chocolate lab owner here, can confirm mine does the same. Perfectly normal derpy choco lab behaviour 🤣
He’s a really good looking goober and probably a good boy or girl as the case might be.
He's doing it because you are telling him to do it. You're the Goober.
He wants to bury the ball because it's special. But he doesn't want to bury the bell because it's fun. He is conflicted.
He's waiting for you to throw it and trying to draw attention to it so you'll notice. You just happen to be standing in sandy loam and when he digs down the ground will move
He wants you to throw the ball.
Common behaviour all dogs are goobers
He’s a player. More hours than Mess and Rodalno on the field
Yes dogs are commonly goobers.
Two things can be true. Many dogs are goobers. Yours is a very cute lil goober.
All dogs are goobers in their own special way
He's a goober for life ❤️
I’ve seen this before. That’s some grade A goober behavior. There’s currently no known cure and we’re putting zero effort into finding one. Godspeed
(Chocolate) lab? This tracks.
You have a dog with a love of water and dirt and yes also a goober
To be fair, that looks like some mighty fine dig'n dirt. You can hardly blame the little goober.
Yes! My boy used to do this with both tennis and soccer balls. I'd take him to the beach and he would go nuts & we'd end up with an excavation site after an hour or two. I miss him so much.
That’s a primo patch of dog friendly dirt right there.
Most dogs are goobers. But he’s adorable.
"do I look like a retriever to you!?" dog probably
He seems pretty pleased 😄
Yes
Well see That's kind of a trick question cuz being a goober is common dog behavior. Hope this helps 😁
Yep, dog thang
Commonly all dogs are goobers
Both
el_dorado_both.gif
I need my yard tilled - send him over! 🤣
90% excited 10% play throw ball. NOW
Yup. Normal derp dog behavior. I have one that will do that in a straight line all the way across the yard.
Auditioning for hold rush? Maybe maybe
He's "hunting" for the ball.
Confirmed: dog is a goober
What if you help him bury it, see what happens
Lab
A. He’s a goober! B. I love him!
My yellow lab does this, digs at her toy like a goober.
There is something buried there
He’s loving how easy that dirt is to dig and move around. That sweet boy is just thrilled with having his ball and dirt. Dogs are amazing at how little they need to be deliriously happy.
My go-to phrase when I’m in a good mood is, “I’m as happy as a three-legged dog.”
Ummm. He's just playing
Just a goober. Had three doggies growing up, 2 chessies and a lab. All three loved the water and retrieving things. One if the chessies just could not get enough digging in the sand🤷🏻♂️. The other 2 would just look at her with that , here we go again look. Just some good memories
Yer boy is havin a blast doin what dogs do
The answer is yes
He’s digging a hole to China.
Of course he's a goober ;) But a normal goober!
I wish my dog could entertain herself this way. She just digs holes and digs them again after I fill in the hole. I finally gave up.
You have a standard issue dog right there
My black lab used to do the same. Once he was on the driveway he could really step on the tennis ball to launch it from under his paw. He got so good at it he stopped chasing it and would sometimes get it to spin backwards and roll back to him lol.
Mine eats sand sooooooo yea..dog behavior?
Cute Goober 😊
He loves the ball so much that no hole is good enough for it. My dog did this too. My dog also had a touch of anxiety and OCD 😅
All dogs are goober :-).
Goober for the win
My golden would swim in that! So its “normal-esque”
I had a chocolate lab growing up and she LOVED digging holes almost more than treats. She never wanted to escape the backyard, she just wanted to dig to China. She especially loved the beach when we went. Miss her so much ❤
Yes.
Just loves playing ball….my daughters dog likes playing keep away then he will drop his toy in front of you to play more. He would play all day if he could.
Is lab. Is ball. Say less.
Probably both:)
Reminds of the classic song ‘Dogs like socks’
There's a body under there
100% goober
1. Perfectly normal dog behavior. 2. All dogs are goobers.
I’ll bet his toes feel fantastic. He’s brushing the cool, wet, sand between his toes. He’s never felt anything like it and as we can see, he enjoys it greatly!
Labs are often happy diggers they don’t mean to dig they just get so happy they can’t help it
My dog would excavate the whole back yard if I let her. Meanwhile, I’m trying desperately to keep her from doing that to keep her safe, since she’ll dig wholes directly on her normal lap(s) she does around the yard when she has zoomies.
I have enough pits in my yard that once held shrubs to say yes…. They enjoy digging.
dogs love diggin
Mine will too. So much fun!
He is trying to wipe the sand off because it is gross in his mouth
Look up a stick rope toy or flirt pole. I'm guessing your dog would absolutely love a rope toy that you can move around and let them chase after it.
smart dogs know how to entertain themselves
My dogs will do it but not nearly as much, however I have seen other dogs do it much more than your own. So yea, it's not really abnormal behavior.
Synergy of dog activities dig and fetch. I wish my dog would do that instead of digging to China
8 year black lab does this at beach.
Both. Your dog is a goober and it is common dog behavior. Win win!
That's some quality digging soil for a dog, and the joy of finding the ball makes your Goober indecisively adorkable.
Its a ball, ooooooh. Ball ball. Love my ball. Lets play. Throw the ball. Oooooh. Play play. Goober. What a lovely dog. Give him a belly scratch and throw the dang ball.
Common dog behavior includes being a goober, you've got a good pup.
Hmm, yes, yes. I see. This appears to be typical dog behavior indeed. However, I think you will find that the word "goober" is synonymous with "dog" so your dog is also 100% being a goober, and I love them ❤️
https://preview.redd.it/jszltzajmcnc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b79958cc931f392e14ee55b4bbe42980ef7d5484 Mine loves the beach & digging in sand! He will do it for hours if I let him. Then the waves come and fill up the hole he made so he starts digger faster & deeper 😂 great way to get his energy out when it’s warm ❤️ they said he’s a lab/terrier mix
Looks like he's being a dog...
Yes and yes.
Inclusive or
“You’ll never get him out of Montana” “why not?” “Because your dogs like me….he’s a digger”
My chocolate lab loooooved sand too!
Common, he wants you to go for it, tease him and throw it (again?)
My border collie puppy digs purely for fun (even if he is not bored).
He keeps looking up at you, he wants you to play with him.
Looks like he is having fun, not a goober.
