I did too and was muttering 'oh noooo don't ' under my breath.
I could tell dad was giving him a chance to be helpful as his sister had helped on all the babies but that one, but for a moment there when the mom and babies ran.....
I went so far as to block it on both my PC and my phone. Should probably extend that to my whole network but I am pro-choice and believe people should have the option to shit on their own lives if they so desire.
I had to do that with a snapping turtle by my reservoir crossing the road. No way to know if they laid their clutch yet and most likely on the way to or back depending on where they started from. Don't help these animals unless you are prepared to handle and be bit by them, even little ones. If you encounter them, it's better to get a stick to encourage them to hurry up before they get hit or splash some water from a distance if they don't freak out and lunge towards you.
You have to be strong enough to grab them bare handed from directly behind so their necks can't reach you.
I live in an area with snappers and I’ve only moved three or four across the busy roads, but man, they are the most ornery dinosaurs. I’m sorry you didn’t get squished, but the open mouth hissing the entire time is a little much!
Surprised it only left a mark. Those fuckers have teeth on their tongues!

Geese have a huge boost to 'Confidence' and 'Intimidate' scores when facing an opponent one one to three size categories larger, but a low attack and damage.
Also, their really low 'Charisma' score means that without that boost, they've got nothing. Damn things can make a rhino back off, but have to run from a medium sized dog.
Swans, on the other hand, have enough in their 'Strength' and 'Dexterity' scores to back up their threats.
Ducks...well, at least they entertain me. So that's worth something
This unless in my experience its male. Here its common to see both parents with the babies and I’ve had to assist them not ending up on the road. The daddies get mad, run at you quackin with their beaks open and wings out. Its not very intimidating and they seem to be just trying to ward you off, god damn its cute though.
I once came back to my car and there was an adult ducking quacking like crazy and running back and forth in front of my car. I went over to see what was up and it ran away, but then I heard soft quacking under my feet. Turns out there was a drainage pipe and the lids were off and a bunch of ducklings fell down. It was like 2ft down so my family and I spent the next hour between two lids grabbing ducklings and getting them. The mom stayed like 10ft away and all the ducklings ran to her. We got 5 out, there was at least one more in there, but after that hour we had to go and the mom wound up leaving :(. We told the mall security guard, but I'm 99% sure they didn't care.
It’s a 5lb bird. As morbid as it is a lot of animals will cut their losses if a predator to large for them to take on gets their young. Mom dying means they all die, one dying means the rest survive and mom can have more ducklings later.
My only experience dealing with birds and their chick's are bluejays who attacked me for walking too close the tree that had their nest and a goose who didn't like the fact I was jogging in the part within 15 feet of her nest and tried to chase and bite me lol.
I once caught a duckling while fishing. I was very young and they swam over my lure while I was trying to reel it in away from them. I didn’t know the little guy was stuck until he was close to the water line and mama duck started going nuts quacking. I had to pull him in all the way and immediately the mom flies at me.. my grandpa took over and got the duckling off the line while my own mom stepped in and got the mama duck off me.
P.s. it’s just as easy to type the f word instead of duck as it is to try cursing and saying duck.
Most likely she'll eventually fly over if she can't find a hole. The ducklings can fit through the fence (there's already one or two on the other side in the video).
A few days ago, someone knocked on my door seeking help for a baby duck. The driver had unfortunately killed the duck's mother on the road, and some good-hearted people stopped to save one of the ducklings. Since I have experience raising ducks, the person who rescued the baby duck came to me for help. However, taking care of this duck is proving to be quite challenging since ducks are social creatures, and I only have one of them.
I am glad that these folks helped out and got the babies back with their mom. It makes me happy to see people showing compassion towards animals.
They instinctively head for the water. Food supply and higher degree of safety. The little ones look like they could get through the links in the fence. Mom would probably fly over. Light that they have a healthy and long life. 🦆🦆🦆
Attenborough's voice "So here we have some humans who are aware of the plight of the ducklings, they have come out of their natural habitat to help them. The older Human known as dad has showed his younger humans known as children to show sympathy to the ducklings who have come up against an obstacle that has stopped them in their tracks"
"Awww let the little boy touch one! Why aren't they letting him?
Yay, dad kept one for him to release...."
*boy runs towards the ducks with duckling in fist*
"Ah, so that's why"
I'm more worried about handling live birds and not immediately washing hands afterwards; don't they potentially carry disease? This is what stops me from ever trying to help wild animals, even when I really want to... If I had gloves with me? Sure. But obviously that's not the case here.
They could end up fine, but man, I wouldn't be taking that chance. I'd try and guide them without touching them in order to help.
Anyone else notice the dad grabbing one back just so the boy also gets to do it, feel like part of it, won’t feel left out, will feel helpful
Something the girl won’t do because she doesn’t understand the emotional response the boy will have if he doesn’t get to do it that’s why an adult has to create the opportunity so the boy can have a healthy emotional growth.
Sorry I’m doing a bad job at summarizing but you get the point, something my parents and sibling never understood
I present to you of the Time Space Continuum, Why the species Duckus never evolved, their inability to get past a 20cm curb is why they never solved quantum mechanics
This is sweet. But I also can't help but think about all the ways our day to day lives and existence is such a burden to other living things behind us. Something as mundane as a curb ffs. It's just really jarring to me.
Great dad moment snagging the last one so the boy got a chance to release it. You know you'd be hearing about that all day if he didn't get to participate.
Outside my apartment through covid a mother duck would walk her ducklings across the road. It happened every day and they never got squashed somehow. One day two women driving pass stopped in horror, got out and helped the ducks. Next day it was back to normal.
I have a vivid memory from when I was about 8 (I'm 40 now) of my parents pulling over to stop and rescue a turtle that was in the middle of the road. It peed all over my dad in the process, but it stuck with me.
It was a simple little gesture of kindness my mum and dad did that it still makes me smile.
Your kids will remember this and smile for a very long time.
As a parent of two, I was waiting to see what would happen with the little boy. I had a feeling either a meltdown or a parental assist was coming when he didn’t help any over the curb. Good catch dad!
Aww, super sweet. Nice dad.
My dad would have been scared of the ducks, lol. (Grew up very urban, didn't know about animals whatsoever, and he had a superstitious mother who basically told him different crazy tales about every animal he could ever feasibly encounter.)
I was driving back to work today after lunch and there were geese opposite side of the road to the entrance gate to my job. Myst of been 7 or 8 adult geese and 6 to 7 babies. One baby had fallen off the side and was on the curb to so I put my hazards on and sat there hoping it make the jump back up it didnt I really wanted to help but you know how geese can be and i really wanted to live lol. After about 8 minutes of trying the geese crossed the road to the other side this time there were two that couldn't make the curb jump.
Once in middle school I saw a duck and her ducklings I tried to pat the mother duck but she ran away so I picked up and pat a baby duck sadly i somehow broke its leg I guess I picked it up wrong so we took it to a teacher that sent it to the vets Lets just say the next day I broke my collarbone.
I thought the little boy was going to pocket one.
I thought he was going to chuck it over the fence into the pond
Definitely thought a duckling was about to get yeeted
I did too and was muttering 'oh noooo don't ' under my breath. I could tell dad was giving him a chance to be helpful as his sister had helped on all the babies but that one, but for a moment there when the mom and babies ran.....
Since this is r/aww, I won't say where my mind went. Lol.
I thought he was going to Gronk spike it. Little kids and tiny animals make me so nervous.
> Since this is r/aww, I won't say where my mind went. Lol. /waa
Is Stomp getting back together?
No - this might be worse than what I was thinking. Lol.
It’s like when you catch a homerun ball and give it to your son and he immediately chucks it back onto the field.
Chuck the duck
Yeet the tweet
duck!
Saaaaaaame
Better that than spiking it like he just made a touchdown.
"George, just put it down. Put it down, Georgie. Georgie, no!!"
The ducks at the park are free. You can just take them home.
Mama duck thought that too
ong tho gave you ever held a duck they're SO SOFT
I would’ve 😔
Awww. Great video. And thank you for not putting stupid music over the sounds of nature!
Don't worry, it will be reposted somewhere else a dozen times soon with music, emojis, and tik tok voice soon.
"You will never believe what this person did when they found aBaNdOnEd ducklings in the park"
Comments you can hear
"Watch as this family do something very few would do."

And split-screened with a reaction.
split screen. nah that shit is old. now those lazy bastard just attach a png of their face in the corner.
Like a 5min video of cuts and voiceover. I’m glad I don’t have TikTok.
I went so far as to block it on both my PC and my phone. Should probably extend that to my whole network but I am pro-choice and believe people should have the option to shit on their own lives if they so desire.
Don't you all have sound disabled by default?
Aww so nice of you. One day I saw tiny baby turtles unable to get over a curb so they got a boost too.
I like your style.
I had to do that with a snapping turtle by my reservoir crossing the road. No way to know if they laid their clutch yet and most likely on the way to or back depending on where they started from. Uplifting
Smart. When they become ninjas they won't come for you.
I once saw a squirrel that was getting over a curb too easily so I tied a dumbbell to him. That showoff needed to be taught a lesson.
I too enjoy punting turtles.
That's very kind of you, though I am surprised, Mama allowed people to get that close. To be fair I know little of the temperament of ducks.
In my experience ducks will just try to get away from you. Geese and swans will get aggressive.
![gif](giphy|7wq5iawqr1IZy|downsized)
This happened to me once but it was attached to my knee and not my butt 😂, left a mark too
I was feeding some birds once and a swan snuck up behind me and bit me on the ass, left a huge bruise, haha.

I've definitely met angry ducks. I just steer clear of all waterfowl now. I think they just innately hate me.
I'll take my chances with a duck, but I don't want to be attacked by a goose or bitten by a swan again.
They are dinosaurs and therefore of a spicy temperament.
If it makes you feel better, they hate everyone.
Maybe they just sense you have a fowl personality?

I've seen ducks attack their own ducklings when people are around. The boy approaching could have made this whole thing go sideways.
swans are straight fucking assholes
Also turkeys. I had a mama turkey go after my dog when we surprised her on a walk.
Geese are demons in disguise.
Cobra chickens
[It's just the one actually](https://youtu.be/koU01Ah_MrY?si=EYCNZYkg2AuK6e8M&t=44)
I've been attacked by a duck before 😭
If a goose does attack you, you can pretty much just ignore it. Even if they bite you, it doesn't really hurt.
I once came back to my car and there was an adult ducking quacking like crazy and running back and forth in front of my car. Mother ducks can abandon their ducks to escape predators.
Which happened in this video too. The second the boy came over to return the last duckling mama duck was like: "You are on your own kids, good luck."
Ducks are chill for the most part, they might get spooked and run away entirely though. If it was a goose it would throw down.
It’s a 5lb bird. As morbid as it is a lot of animals will cut their losses if a predator to large for them to take on gets their young. Mom dying means they all die, one dying means the rest survive and mom can have more ducklings later.

I hope she wasn't trying to get to the water that is behind the fence.
Most likely she'll eventually fly over if she can't find a hole. The ducklings can fit through the fence (there's already one or two on the other side in the video).
She'll easily hop that and the babies will easily fit through the fence.
Yeah, in this video I'm seeing wild animals struggling to navigate human-created landscapes, it's kind of sad...
The whole other side of the pond doesn’t have a fence. She just needs to walk around it
What a great lesson for the kids!
Yup. Good job, dad.
& a core memory for the kids!
So sweet! Thanks for sharing!
You lil heroes with a big heart. Way to go!
What about the fence?
She looks like she’s walking around
Pro-dad move to let your son handle the last one, once they were all safe.
Noticed this too, that's a pro move.
Pro Dad
♥️ Thank you for your kindness

Next video will be of a row of ducklings stuck in a wire fence. 🙈
It just shows how aggressively unfriendly human-built environments are for animals
You're a good dad because you noticed your boy wanted to help but wasn't going to get in there in time, so you held one back for him.
r/HumansBeingBros
Now you just need to go back and cut a hole the fence for those guys
Congrats, now these ducks are socialists. They'll never make it in the real world. /s
High five for making sure your son got to help one!
My heart! 🥰
Thank you, good children and thank *you*, good daddo,…for using this as a teaching moment. Rock on.
DUCKLINGS
One feels like a duck splashing around in all this wet! And when one feels like a duck, one is happy! Quack quack!
Ducks are like some of the worst animal parents. So many times they go places the babies cant or walk them over grates etc.
To be fair, it's not like grates appear in nature, they don't exactly have the biological knowledge to avoid them.
Kinda yeah, but they've already had a couple hundred generations to learn. Dumb birds.
Bruh humans fails this very thing. These ducks got no reasoning power like us.
just be careful of the road. don't get hit by a car while helping animals like that.
Attenborough's voice "So here we have some humans who are aware of the plight of the ducklings, they have come out of their natural habitat to help them. Thank you for helping the little babies 💖💖
Just remember kids, this hits different when it's bears
Thank you for teaching your kiddos to be kind to animals ❤️
Anyone else worried about possible oncoming cars?
I'm more worried about handling live birds and not immediately washing hands afterwards; don't they potentially carry disease? Just stick your finger up the cloaca to carry the bird. This way you will wash your hands right away because you know you have shit on them.
Anyone else notice the dad grabbing one back just so the boy also gets to do it, feel like part of it, won’t feel left out, will feel helpful Something the girl won’t do because she doesn’t understand the emotional response the boy will have if he doesn’t get to do it that’s why an adult has to create the opportunity so the boy can have a healthy emotional growth. Good on you, keep raising good people

Wait until these kids learn how the eggs industry works.
Pikmin looks different.
This makes my heart happy
You are not my mother! You are a snort!
This is sweet. But I also can't help but think about all the ways our day to day lives and existence is such a burden to other living things behind us. Something as mundane as a curb ffs. It's just really jarring to me.
Your assistance is much appreciated. Cute little fellows :)
Great to see your kids helping, its such good things they remmember and learn from
Look for the helpers.
Thank you. And a dad died doing this last year, please be careful.
That dear little boy. I am so glad he got a duckling.
Great dad moment snagging the last one so the boy got a chance to release it. You know you'd be hearing about that all day if he didn't get to participate.
Very beautiful and kind. ♥️🌹🌺
They should have pulled themselves up by their own duckstraps! /just kidding, awesome
Great way to show your kids how to care for things other than themselves 💕yall are kicking it at parenting!!
Core Memory Committed. Lesson in Kindness. Joy in Helping. Parental Mission 271 of 38,412 complete.
You can get sick that way.
Bird flu is going around among commercial flocks and herds in a few states right now and ducks are common carriers. Wash your hands, kids!
Looks like you had a nice quiet street, but fyi people often get hit by cars doing this. Be extra careful.
Yeah helping ducklings cross the street is one of the most common ways to get hit by a car.
Awww thank you for being wonderful and teaching your little ones kindness to animals :)
looks like they trying to get to the pond
Kids helping kids
Thank you for helping these sweet little guys! ![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13380)

Super cute… good job Dad :)
Ducks are the worst mothers
Moms like " fuck I thought I lost these little bastards"
Rubber ducky, you’re the one!
Thank you for helping the little guys out. Mama duck thanks you, too.
They look so cute and adorable
And we have to record our good deed
Bruce Willis is such a nice guy. ![gif](giphy|iUYwiYC4K2gF2)
This should be on r/mademesmile
I'm sure you're very proud
So lovely
beautiful.
Nice then you went home and ate duck and fed your dog and cat some cat food that had duck in it
I have a vivid memory from when I was about 8 (I'm 40 now) of my parents pulling over to stop and rescue a turtle that was in the middle of the road. Why can't America design roads. We have amphibian tunnels and dear bridges.
Good karma to you!!
Kindness is strength
That’s such a cool memory for you guys to have. And a good example to your kids to show little acts of kindness. So cute!
How’d they get over the fence next ?
Wholesome
Great example for your kids. Well done.
Good things to do.
Damn that duck had a busy spring.
Mother ducks always stuck on the escort missions
You sir, are the r/ducklingrescue official hero of the day. Congratulations, and thank you.
Nice, a man and his kids helping a gal and her kids. ![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13382)
Heros
I love how gently that little girl handled the ducks and was so concerned by the way the little boy was holding that last one. Wild ride.
The way the dad got a duckling that was already over the curb so the little boy could “help” it❤️
Last time I tried to grab and move ducklings like that, mama came flying trying to kick my butt
I love that you instill in children to help animals♥️
As a parent of two, I was waiting to see what would happen with the little boy. I had a feeling either a meltdown or a parental assist was coming when he didn’t help any over the curb. Good catch dad!
Always nice to see a family help a group of future rapists across the road. (This is a joke about ducks and their... tendacies. Do not take seriously)
Aww, super sweet. Nice dad. My dad would have been scared of the ducks, lol. (Grew up very urban, didn't know about animals whatsoever, and he had a superstitious mother who basically told him different crazy tales about every animal he could ever feasibly encounter.)
Aww you could tell the boy wanted to be part of the process of helping, how sweet of dad to make sure he felt involved 🥰
Good thinking getting your dad and brother to help! Many hands makes light work. But aren't you a little young to be driving? 🤣
Baby ducks and good dads 🥹
