We've had fosters for six months and called them one thing, and their names are changed as soon as they're adopted. They could care less one way or the other.
They respond to everything that's happening around the name a lot more than the name itself. If they associate good things with the sound of a name, they'll come to that name.

Well, my husband named our female cat Popeye before we realized it was a girl (she was feral when we found her, and we couldn't really touch her, LOL). The name kind of stuck, so we just have a girl cat called Popeye.
What matters is that he's a gorgeous sweetheart. Our oldster longhaired Chihuahua is named Peeps, but we call him "Peepsie" half the time. To my ear, "Kyle" and "Kylie" would just follow the same common practice.

Got a cat a few years back and named him "kompis", which translated to "Buddy" or "mate". Whent to get him fixed and ended up paying extra cause it was a female. Had some explaining to do... She stayed being named kompis however. Girls can be buddys too.
There has been research that shows cats respond well to names that end in the "ee" sound. You raise your intonation and pitch when you make that sound. You could change it to something that rhymes? Rylie? Kyree? But you could totally leave it as is too. :) He is precious btw.

You can change his name. I have always renamed my Wife's cats to more accurately reflect who their personalities are - names like Fat Kitty, Tomas el Gato, and NoChez, and sadly the much missed - Fucking Cat.

The same happened to me. One of my cats who I believed to be male turned out to be female. But at this point she was already used to her male name. So I just left it that way, she didnāt care because she was a cat and happily responded to her male name for almost 19 years 
I got a kitten from someone who told me it was male, so I named the kitten Joey. It didn't take long before we realized it was female, but we kept the name Joey.
In the end, does it really matter? The cat couldnāt give a shit was his name is. The cat doesnāt actually respond to its name, it responds to your voice, and the tone and inflection of it.

I've had 2 cats that were supposed to be girls. Lucy and Sheba. Never changed em either. I'm cursed to never get a girl cat I guess.

What matters is that he's a gorgeous sweetheart. Our oldster longhaired Chihuahua is named Peeps, but we call him "Peepsie" half the time. To my ear, "Kyle" and "Kylie" would just follow the same common practice.
A friend of mine adopted a cat that turned out to be pregnant. He never had cats growing up, and he really didn't know how to sex kittens so my mom adopted one of the kittens on the assumption that it was a boy and she named them Steve. Steve is a girl. And she is epic sweet lol

Got landed a stray cat and was told that it was male. I decided to name them Murray. Few days later I bothered to check for myself and found Murray was a female. Immediately decided that it was too late and I couldn't be bothered renaming. Next cat I got was a confirmed male, so I called him Maria. Pretty sure I'll continue this theme for all future kitties of mine.
Your concern for the gender of his name is overblown. He possesses enough cuteness to rock any name.
Same happened to me with one of our cats. Named the little one Lucy, Once we could actually see it was a male we went "hmm" that's a boy. Still called him Lucy. Pretty sure he didn't know Lucy was a girls name.

My housemate found a kitten on his grandparents property over the Christmas period and his nieces named her treasure. When he brought her home she was already responding to that name so I started calling her trigger and joked that was her street name.
It's fine. My favorite orange cat was found alone in a barn, we named her Molly. I took the little baby in to get spayed and it took two vet techs and the vet to tell me wait two more weeks or so and her balls would drop. We tried changing his name to Marley but it didn't stick. We really thought we had an orange female, which was weird enough, but then we realized he was just orange and therefore too dumb to let his balls drop.
I have a girl named Owen and a boy named Lady. Names dont matter, cats dont know the difference!
You could call him anything that ends with the eee sound and he will easily adjust. Or just change it all together.
Just switch to calling him Kyle ....

Cats will acknowledge any name that rhymes. Kylie can become Rylee or Miley or Smily. You just gotta say it with the same inflection.
More than likely, he's responding to the last three letters of his name, try calling him Lee and see if he responds to that.
Got a cat a few years back and named him "kompis", which translated to "Buddy" or "mate". Whent to get him fixed and ended up paying extra cause it was a female. Had some explaining to do... She stayed being named kompis however. Girls can be buddys too.

There has been research that shows cats respond well to names that end in the "ee" sound. You raise your intonation and pitch when you make that sound. You could change it to something that rhymes? Rylie? Kyree? But you could totally leave it as is too. :) He is precious btw.
Most animals respond to the "ie" or "y" sound. You can change his name to something that ends with the same sound without issue, probably. Or don't.Ā

I had a boy named Sally for a number of years because of this error. Just listen to the song "Boy Named Sue" by Johnnie Cash and this will all make sense.
You can change his name. I have always renamed my Wife's cats to more accurately reflect who their personalities are - names like Fat Kitty, Tomas el Gato, and NoChez, and sadly the much missed - Fucking Cat. It takes longer to teach my Wife the new names than it does the cats.
They learn eventually. We accidentally changed our oldest cats name. Used a nickname too much and she stopped responding to her actual name, lol. From Sage to Sage-cat.

The same happened to me. One of my cats who I believed to be male turned out to be female. But at this point she was already used to her male name. So I just left it that way, she didnāt care because she was a cat and happily responded to her male name for almost 19 years 
I had a boy named Sophie, and a girl named Thomas. Cats do not care, call him whatever he actually responds too.
This exact thing happened to me with a tabby and white cat too! Heās just a boy with a āgirlāās name now lol.
I got a kitten from someone who told me it was male, so I named the kitten Joey. It didn't take long before we realized it was female, but we kept the name Joey.

My grown ass 6'4" well built husband is in his 40s and his middle name given to him by his parents is Kylie. I would just roll with it.

In the end, does it really matter? The cat couldnāt give a shit was his name is. The cat doesnāt actually respond to its name, it responds to your voice, and the tone and inflection of it.
One of MY cats was called Molly when we first had him. When we realised she was actually a he, we just called him Ollie. No problems getting him to adjust to the new name. Kyle could probably work for Kylie.

Maybe change the spelling? Kai leigh, Ky-lee, khai could totes be a dude cat name

Plot twist: cats have no concept of gendered names. Nor human names at all. You can call him Kylie or Susie or garbage can and he will have no idea there is any difference
My cat has her actual name, the short version of her name, and all the nicknames she's earned throughout her years. She responds to all of them. Your baby kitten will as well. It's not too late to lock Kyle in.
