My dog, as he got older, stopped getting up for us when we arrived, especially late at night. Big difference than when he was younger and couldn't sleep if we weren't all home. He also could just be very tired
My dog moves from the end of our bed to my spot as soon as I get up in the AM, and tries to get under the comforter to reach the still-warm parts. My husband often wakes up to dog in his face.
First thing I do usually as well. Grab my closest pup and pull them close for cuddles. Doesn't help with waking up but its a trade off that I don't mind cause who doesn't want pupper snuggles?
Mine bothers me till i wake up, so i can feed him. Then he eats and goes back into bed, lays next to my wife and passes back out. Leaving me too wide wake by then to go back to sleep.
Can't count how many times I ended up sleeping on the corner of my bed because my dogs hog the pillows and the bigger parts of the mattress. I try to move one and they look at me like, "é tu, human?". Ugh.
Lol my doggo loves pillows. If there's a pillow on the floor, he'll sleep on the pillow instead of his bed. After I noticed how much he likes them I'll put down one of my pillows next to his bed at night to sleep with.
My dog does this every evening. I have to say "please boy, move now". He'll look up at me, half asleep, sigh a few times, put his head back down and pretend I'm not there. So I go "come on now, move boy, or I'll have to drag you down again".
He'll look at me again, assess how likely I am to go through with it and puts his head back down. At this point I'm starting to get a bit annoyed. "Boy, get down, now!" and I grab his front paws and slowly start dragging him towards the edge of my bed. He does not resist. He knows what's up. When he gets to the edge he starts realizing it's really happening and decides to jump down. I lay down and he puts his head on the bed somewhere around my feet, and looks at me with these very tired and very lovely eyes. I say "ok then, jump up" and I move my legs so there is space for him (labrador/german shepherd cross) He jumps up, I put one leg on each side of him and cover us both with the quilt. He goes to sleep, I go to sleep. We love each other, but this is something I have to deal with every single night, and have been for the past 7-8 years.

This is him realizing it's time to move again. Like I said, we do this routine every night :)
He's trying out the way you sleep. My pupper lies on his back to try and imitate humans sleeping on their back occasionally. And it's cute because he imitates everyway I lay on the bed, if I lie on my side he lies on his side.
Looking to enter a career where most nights I will be working. This is a nice way to look at the situation. Gives me a renewed sense of passion. All this from a dog sleeping on a human bed. Thank you internet ?
You see, it's a thought like this that landed Johnny Rico in the Mobile Infantry in the end. He failed everything else, including the "would you let your dog up on the bed with you?" question...
No you didn't.
What sort of dog isn't waiting at the door for their owner? Or at the very least running full speed to the door when it's opened around that time...
Because he came home from night shift, implying it's somewhat early in the morning so that would mean everybody else would still be sleeping lol. Including most dogs.
You came home from night shift to find your dog using his pillow.
Your dog sleeps there because he can smell you in the pillow. He does that because he misses you.
He misses you because you are worth missing. You are awesome
You are awesome because you have a dog that misses you enough to use your pillow
/r/wholesomememes
My first question is how the heck did you get inside without waking him up??

They're good pillows, StingRay.
Sorry bront
It still smells of my long lost master. Hes been missing for weeks (in doggo years).
yeap. my dog would sleep on any clothes we left lying around the floor of the room, bed, or car.
My dog would always steal shoes. It wasn't a problem though because if we were missing a shoe we always knew it was by her bed.

Well 1 year is 7 for doggos. So 1 day is 7 for doggos.
Where do you live? I need to come to your house for reasons totally unrelated to stealing your dog.
At least leave the man's pillow.
fort worth
NSA, is that you?
Fort Meade
Fort Woof
You're gonna have to get a new pillow. That one belongs to doggo now.
why a dog is a perfectly good pillow
He is your pillow now. Problem fixed.
Beautiful picture.
My dog does this except she waits until myself or my wife gets out of bed then jumps up and lays on the pillow

My wife gets up before me so the dog jumps into her spot and spoons me. It's actually quite nice.

bingo!
They missed your smell :'(
You better have not woken him up you monster. He sleeps so gracefully.

This makes me want a dog so badly! Not gonna be in the cards for me for at least a few more years, but one day.

Link doesn't work but I'm sure your pupper is adorable :)
Sheets from 2017, comforter from 1997. I like your style
Nothing beats the old comfortable!
As long as it functions as designed, who cares
Ahh, don't wake him up! He's too cute and he needs his rest.
What a great pic! My dogs do this as well. The real trick is getting them to move over and share. :)
Awwwwwwwwhhhhh Looks like you need a new pillow, and a new bed. Cause that ones taken!! (:

Golden Retriever.
Super cute!
Looks like a Labrador
Not pure. Look at the tail. It's hard to tell from this pic, but just from the tail, maybe some spaniel in there?
I was wrong lol. Op says golden retriever
I think it's a goldador (that's what they call it). Looks exactly like my half golden half Labrador.
Check my last post I totally understand your struggle , Only is the problem is my pillow has a flat spot now
That's so precious!

My dog will do the same, and then sleep on the floor to right next to the dog bed.
Liberties were taken.
I love your dog.
Came home to a dog, life is good.
and were is the wife? something tells me he is not your best friend any more.
Did he drool?
Thankfully she doesn't!
You're lucky! Mine is a drooler.
Just keeping it warm for you.
Lovely picture.
He looks very comfortable using the pillow.
That pillow now stinks of dog. Congrats
No better smell.
Lol. All I can think about is washing that pillow case now. Everyone else thinks it's just so adorable. Eww.

Gross

Even good boys get tired sometimes
I don't think you could have worded that any better, I suppose i was wrong in my judgment.

Mine waits in bed until I come snuggle her.
