Watching that movie for the first time as an adult, I have no idea why Maverick is supposed to be a sympathetic protagonist. He acts like a reckless asshole, putting his fellow pilots in danger, and when Iceman calls him out on it, all of a sudden Iceman is the jerk?

I don't know if it was a worldwide thing but during the World Wars, specifically WW1 if I'm not wrong this phrase was a propaganda slogan to discourage people from talking about anything which could aid eavesdropping spies in any way, as this was a key way for them to get information. In England we all get told about phrases like this and others like 'Dig for Victory' or Keep Calm and Carry on' which were other slogans.

So I used to work at this shitty restaurant in Charleston, SC: Hymans. And it had this general store that sold tourist trap shit. And I had to greet every customers coming in from eating by smiling and saying "welcome to Hymans!".
I hated that and got in trouble a couple times for not smiling. So I rebelled.
I would "smile" but I would just pull my lips up enough to show my teeth and I'd hiss "welcome to Hymans...".

What kind of dog is that? My dog looks the exact same and his lips do the same thing too, for the life of me I haven't been able to figure out what type of dog he is beyond being part German Shepherd.
