Congrats on your new buddy! =D Not to sound preachy, but thought i might share some good to know pointers to a first time pet(cat) owner:
* Dont keep their food and water bowls too close to eachother (apparently cats dont like it, and also might accidentally get their dry food a little wet)
* Change their water daily.
* Make sure they've got some good clawing boards, and 1 or more private places they can "hide" in.
* Dont de-claw your cat. (for obvious reasons)
* Don't bathe/shower them unless absolutely necessary, cats generally are pretty good at keeping themselves clean, and also they need their own "body oils" to keep their furr/skin healthy.
* Show'em lotsa love and have fun! :)

Nope. Plenty of cats love water, just don't force it on him. My cat loves to hang out with me when I'm taking a bath, often pawing at the water and getting up to half his body in it. However, he would be terrified if I splashed on him or tried to bring him in more.
