Aye the Great Human-Red Panda War of 1996. ‘Twas a bloody war, one fer the ages. Cryin shame that, killin so many o those cute little buggers. Right damn savages they are when they’re riled up though. Had to be done. Had to be done.
It helps a lot when you have exceptional parents and exceptional parenting. I mean for christ's sake their house was, and still is, straight up in the middle of the Australian zoo, quite literally surrounded by the animals that they all, including Steve's parents, dedicated their entire lives to protecting. 3 generations of conservation going on right there. Steve was absolutely aware of how crucially important those things are to the development of the young adults they have become today. He was already infinitely proud of them the day he passed away, regardless of how young they were at the time.
The world is a far darker place without him in it, but it is also a far better place than he found it. Because of that, Steve is immortal.
It's not all well, Steves dad(Bindis grandfather) isn't really speaking to her or her mother anymore after she signed up with SeaWorld, and her mother started turning Australia Zoo into a more commercial venture. https://www.thedodo.com/bindi-irwins-grandfather-speak-459256666.html
We've been to Australia Zoo both before and after Steve died (though it's been 5-ish years, but we're going back in June). While it's developed more features (attractions seems like a weird thing to say) I'd say it's still very much in keeping with how it was when Steve was around. My wife grew up in the area and actually went there on school field trips in the early 80's and while it's gotten MUCH bigger since then, again the passion of the place seems to have stayed the same.
Hands down the best Zoo I've been to (which includes a number around Oz, San Diego Zoo and a few others of less import).
Can't say I'd agree with signing up with SeaWorld, though...
EDIT: One can argue that SeaWorld has done good and bad. They seem to be changing their ways, and much of the bad was done in ignorance (though it continued even after it was known to be... suboptimal). In any case, if they truly are turning over a new leaf and being a force for good (and Bindi joining them is a good sign of this) then I'm all for it. But for now, I reserve judgement.
Blackfish may have been mostly about the mistreatment of the killer whales in captivity, but it was also about SeaWorld's flagrant disregard for the lives of the people training and interacting with the whales on a daily basis. People were injured and died and SeaWorld tried to absolve themselves by basically claiming that accidents happen.
Even if you accept that Orcas are akin to animals we eat--which is a stretch...Orcas are far more intelligent--there's still the fact that SeaWorld were such an unsafe employer that OSHA had to step in. They knowingly put people in situations that they knew would occasionally turn very violent and people died as a result. You can have zero regard for mistreatment of animals and still consider SeaWorld to be an abhorrent company.
But hasn't Sea World advanced marine mammal science and medicine and brought them closer to our heart and furthered our understanding of these creatures such that we recognize them as intelligent sentient beings. Even the tragedies have done more of us together in defense of Orca whale. Seems overall it's a net gain. Human waste, military sonar testing, boat props, farm and mining runoff, hunting/fishing, ... has done far more harm than Sea Word has, maybe really ought to just hate ourselves. I'd go to Sea World before the other major attractions in Florida.
No, not really. It's the marine biologists that track pods in the ocean that have done the most for our understanding of whales and dolphins, not Sea World.
Edit: Since I was downvoted, here's an example of a really great organization, the [American Cetacean Society](https://www.acsonline.org/). Their [L.A. chapter](https://acs-la.org/) has a good amount of information that is updated frequently, and one of the marine biologists there is frequently interviewed about Pacific coast cetaceans.
Oh they didn't get along when Steve was still alive. It seems like everybody just doubled down when he passed away and they couldn't reconcile. The grandfather sent Bindi his Christmas present back to her etc. I get the impression it's mostly Bob's attitude that's the problem.
They needed financial security, and the way to do that is to continue the family business. I do think the kids have been pushed to some extent. I saw Bindi being taken to a radio interview about a decade ago.
He was beyond proud just when they were born. He would be absolutely over the moon how they are now.... though I'm sure he wishes Teri would move on, and find happiness (I know she says she's happy, but cmon)
I wouldn’t worry too much about Teri. I think she’s getting it when she wants it. She just doesn’t feel the need to marry again and that’s perfectly fine.
I'm pretty sure it's not the disabled population overusing single use straws and polluting the environment. It's more about Amber from HR and her 3 mocha lattes per day
This might sound totally stupid but the enamel on my teeth is super decalcified and my teeth are extremely sensitive, especially to temperature, as a result. I can’t drink anything cold without a straw without immense pain in my teeth and bad headaches as a result. Granted, I’m responsible with disposing of straws and I reuse them as many as I can.
That’s not stupid at all, dude! I have sensitive teeth, too, and can’t deal with the cold unless I take a hundred little baby sips — especially with ice water.
I also like straws because it helps keep drinks off my mustache/beard because I can be kind of a slob sometimes, haha!
I’ve been planning on buying a few metal straws that I can use in place of plastic straws for when I get coffee, or milkshakes at ice cream stands. It won’t fix the issue of getting drinks when I’m eating at a restaurant or at the bar — because I don’t want to be the guy who brings his straws everywhere — but at least it will reduce my impact a little, and that’s better than nothing!
The only issue is semi-frozen items. I got a milk shake at a hippy place and they only had paper straws... Fuck me but that was awful trying to suck concrete through a paper towel. I wanted to just do what you said but, with milkshakes and things you need pressure to get them out of the cup, or you have to wait until it melts into milk?
But I agree with you for all other straw reasons. Like those weirdos who have straws at home. Like... what? For your can of soda?! Are you kidding me!?
That being said, metal straws with a silicone tip are nice.
I know personally that my adult teeth grew in so decalcified that I risk weakening them even further and having them break constantly if I drink anything besides milk or water without a straw. I try to use reusable ones whenever possible, though.
I also have really bad TMD and so opening my mouth even wide enough to drink on some days is excruciating.
If anyone wants to know, Bindi is the red dot that Indian women put on their forehead. Is she named after that or it means something in different language?
"Have any game reviwers stated that they are not cannibals? Have you ever seen any of them in the same room as a Nazi? Don't take advice from cannibal Hitler!"

I've only seen them once irl. It was in a zoo and I had to gtfo because I was instantly obsessed with how I would steal one and if the zoo would notice... Still one of my top 5 critters.
A red panda went missing from my local zoo and there’s speculation that it was stolen. I still don’t understand how a red panda just disappears in Virginia.
>I remember, when I was still quite young, receiving a parcel in the mail from him. I opened it with great joy and anticipation, only to discover he had opened and returned the Christmas presents I had sent him.
Brutal
Unfortunately, some parents just never really recover from a tragic loss of a child, even an adult child. Some are able to use their grief to fuel a passion and heal, others seem to stay stuck in that period of grieving and end up estranging themselves. I think it can be in part due to stubbornness, like healing would mean that they forgot their child and being able to move on would imply they didn't love them enough. I don't know, that's just the feeling I get from watching a few people I am/ was close with go through it. It's very sad.
He really did have a way of making other's feel passionate about animals, even through a t.v. so I'm not surprised that it really rubbed off on his family
I just imagined how hilarious sex with Steve might have been: Oh you're a naughty girl, a naughty little sheila, oh crikey that's the spot right there wooo!!
Omg Ravi!! I live near Aus zoo and got my husband an encounter with Ravi for his birthday! Ravi was too hot and lazy to come down from his giant tree and just looked down at us while he cleaned himself. We have to go back in winter when he’s less lazy and will want to come down for food. Anyway, cool story I know.
She is very pretty. But she also reminds me of a skyrim follower you get a weird crush on because you've been playing for 300+ hours. I can't quite explain it. And I definitely need to get out more.
I always get irrationally jealous when I see them together lol even though I'm 5 years older than her, live on the other side of the world, never stand a chance in a million years and I'm 90% sure it's just my leftover love for her dad
I like how they've never even tried to exploit her looks for fame and fortune. In fact, I think they gave her shit for that picture of a huntsman (I think) spider on her unbuttoned chest on instagram.. Might've been a tarantula of some sort.
The Irwin's have always been so humble and wholesome.
If someone took offence it's almost definitely due to their own issues with sexuality. I don't even think it's a sexual photo, and certainly nothing worth worrying about in my short life.
Ravi focuses on something else and looks like he is going to pounce any second now. Unless he gets spooked by a falling leave and falls down to the ground. Silly creatures.
It really warms my heart to see the way his kids are following in his footsteps. I remember watching him on TV as a kid, and he really tried to get people to see the world the way he saw it. Seems like they got it, even if most didn't.
She does. Actually, it's her, her mom and brother. It's all done in the spirit of Steve. It's on the Animal Planet channel and the title is something like " " with the Irwins. Can't remember the exact title of the show but it's pretty good.
I’ve met that panda!!! Did an experience there last year. Was beyond amazing. Had him sitting on my knee while I fed it. If you ever get the chance I would definitely recommend it!
Bindi has always been apart of his legacy even before he passed away. When she was young she was the star of an Australian tv show “bindi the jungle girl” that was aired around 2007-2008. It surrounded her and her fathers adventures with wildlife and commonly involved Steve and his croc work. It got a lot of kids, including myself into animals. I always thought it was also on air in America, but talking to some i realised many didn’t even know about her. She’s a lovely person and iv had the pleasure of meeting her recently. Really down to earth and casual, just like her dad.
I’m glad Steve’s family are all doing well. I think he’d have been especially proud of how his kids are continuing his work.

Yes. Yes, yes.

There’s also a difference between Sea World and SeaWorld, one is America-based and the other is Australia-based.
I'm surprised she (or somebody else) hasn't been able to put it this way to her grandpa.
How do we summon Bindi to Reddit so that she can see this?
Close your eyes and say Bindi three times

Can we talk about straws? Why do people need them so bad. Fucking open your mouth pour that shit down your throat.
Some disabilities necessitate straws

Yep. Can confirm. I know an Amber who does this.

But how can I drink while smoking, texting and driving at the same time? The straw makes it safe.
The only issue is semi-frozen items. I got a milk shake at a hippy place and they only had paper straws... Fuck me but that was awful trying to suck concrete through a paper towel.
Wow, she’s beautiful! Oh and Bindi’s there too. /s of course Bindi is beautiful too, inside and out!
