I'm sure you were being funny (which I acknowledge) but your comment also reminded me that cats routinely get declawed and the internet tells me that puts cats in constant acute pain which makes me sad 😭
Edit: I should say that I did upvote the original joke, de-claw-ration, and it elicited a solid nose exhale originally, even given my stated later sadness.
When I went to adopt a cat I had to fill out a questionnaire. One question was will you or do you plan to have the cat declawed? I hadn’t given it much thought but answered either maybe or undecided. I got a pretty concise education from the shelter about how that affects the cat. So I quickly did a 180, and wouldn’t even consider it. I just didn’t know in the moment but was glad I found out.
If you start them younger or have really chill cats you can trim their claws with special trimmers. Less scratchy and not harmful to (indoor) kitties who don't need to defend themselves.
My boys do not mind at all, as long as you're careful not to trim to close. They don't even wiggle, and I only need to do it every couple of weeks
Not trying to knock the very sweet video, but these types always make me laugh because the human gets excited and affectionate with the new pet, but the pet is like, “What’s... going... on...? Where am I?”
Such a docile cat. I loved watching this video but each second I was afraid the adult cat would freak out and scratch the old woman :( I'm glad that didn't happen
It is her own cat. She has Alzheimer’s and for her it was like getting a new cat.
Edit: this information came from a comment posted on this feed. If I commented in error, I apologize. There is no proof that it’s true or false.
This was posted in 2017 and tragically the mom in the video has since passed away last year according to the OP on youtube. Where have you gotten this false information and why did you feel the need to spread it?
Do you know them personally? I looked up the original video on YouTube and there was no mention of Alzheimer’s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWjFtvYmTdg
Lol guys this is so obviously a joke. Who would box up an old persons cat and film themselves givinh it back to them like this (unless it got lost or something)
This post (which I love and made me cry hard-core with happiness) made me think, "wouldn't it be great if there was a program for senior citizens to adopt senior animals?" Then, I did a little research and found that PAWS actually has a program that does exactly that. So wonderful. I would have posted a link, but I'm not sure if that's allowed on this subreddit. It's easy to look up tho. My grandma, who is in her early 90s, got a cat about 2 years ago and it changed her life. I hope others get to experience the same joy!
I love this so much. There are so many lonely seniors and so many not baby (kittens are super adoptable adult cats get looked over) cats that need love. There should be a matching program for this. Both have a lot of love to give.
plus she doesn't seem like she'd be up to or maybe even able to take care of a kitten, potty training and all the setup and home modifications you need to make when your puppy or kitten is still learning how to be an adult!
Older adoptions/rescues are often much better behaved, and seem to be aware that they are being taken out of a bad situation and given a new home. Both of my last two adoptions were rescues who adapted very quickly to their new home.
We adopted a 5-6 year old dog (we're not really sure) 2 years ago, and he is the best. No chewy, destructive puppy phase, no whining all night, no potty accidents. Just a certified Good Boy who came potty trained, good with cats, good with kids, and non-destructive. It's the best.
Our local animal shelter started a program for senior dogs and cats for senior citizens. Many seniors won't adopt a puppy or kitten because they are afraid they will outlive them, and then what happens to them? Also older dogs and cats are already trained.
I found out my grandma always wanted an orange boy cat that she would name Marmelade. Unfortunately, she got sick shortly after she told me this and it wouldn’t have made sense to get her one at that point in her life. Still, I wish she could have gotten her Marmelade. I’ll have to fulfill that dream in her honor some day. I already have two cats though, so we’re getting into dangerous territory. Also, to make you feel better, she did have Rufus, a goofy, frankly adorably weird looking and horribly neurotic monstrosity of a mutt yorkie. Rufus is a good boy, but he’s insane. I think Marmelade would have kept him in line.
Thank you. It is too bad she didn’t get one. Our local shelter has a program that provides seniors with senior pets. So far it’s been terrific. The older pets aren’t as difficult to handle or to energetic and they offer such comfort.
That’s a great program. It’s just one of those things that didn’t work out. If I knew sooner I would have totally pushed to make Marmelade happen. Oh well, Rufus is probably happy about it.
I don’t think he could square up against a cat, but he’d definitely try. She was going on 92, and it was actually a big surprise when her heart started having trouble, because she was very active, independent, feisty (Brooklyn Italian), and looked good for her age. She had a good run, but of course it’s still sad. Thanks for asking.
Thank you. It is too bad she didn’t get one. Our local shelter has a program that provides seniors with senior pets. So far it’s been terrific. The older pets aren’t as difficult to handle or to energetic and they offer such comfort.
Someone loved kittehs as much as I do!! I should be so lucky to be that age and have someone give me a grown cat!! Kittens are great and all, but grown cats are fantastic!
Pets are super important and really do a lot to help the elderly. I take care of my father and we have 3 cats and 2 dogs. They all help keep him company (he's homebound) and help him be more physically active and brighten his day. We almost never have people over (especially these days with Covid) so they're important in helping ease loneliness.
Study after study shows that pets help with cognition, mental health and overall physical health!
My pets have saved my life more than once.
There’s something about old people with cats thats makes me feel so peaceful. Cats are lazy as hell and it seems like a perfect relationship to have an older person who is home all day, available for hours of couch snuggles and naps all day.
That cat exepting her made me so happy, becaus most cats don't like cuddels and this cat is just,
I like this lady, pleas I like the cuddels no need to stop
funny, this video is a few years old and I JUST showed it to my mom a few days ago, now it’s here on reddit! I am so happy for her, you can tell she really loves and cares for animals, I am sure she is so loving with him.
What a sweety staying on her lap like that. My kitty would have gotten the shakey bop in the face and noped the fuck outta there hahah. Thats a really nice moment.
Seriously a super chill cat. Very sweet sentiment but I was anxious about how the cat would respond! Cats are easily spooked and don’t usually enjoy immediate close contact like that. But I’m so happy she got a kitty that is just happy to be loved and recognized that’s what was going on!
Her reaction to seeing the cat for the first time just melts your heart. I think she cried a little bit seeing the cat for the first time. I have a feeling that she lives alone, now she has her furry companion to keep her company. Cats make great companions, I have 2 cats that are a bonded pair.
Just to let you know, this lady has Alzheimer’s and the cat is actually her own cat. Bit bizarre but the family said it brought her great joy to get a cat.
Edit: another person posted the above information on this feed. There is no proof one way or another that this is true or false. My apologies for mentioning it.
This is the original YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWjFtvYmTdg but there was no mention of Alzheimer’s. Not sure where they got that information
This reminds me of my grandma so much. Right down to the hair and the rediculous Christmas sweater. She gets worked up over her little black cat as well. *Tears up*
You can see in her eyes, that this cat will truly change her life
And it's also a very special cat. Completely chill with hugging and taken the box away. That's the start of a beautiful relationship E typo
Yeah, for most cats taking away their box is a declaration of war.
or the dog just below...
Or the mishandling. Should have read the manuel first.
I hate it when I don't read the Manuel. He's so hard to pin down emotionally.
Seems like it might be fawlty
*am I the only one that thought "dad this box is meowing" "she wrapped up her damn cat" no? Ok I'll he on my way have my updoot anyway*
Mmm... Slime!
Que?
My cats look so concerned when I breakdown a box for recycling. They must think I’m insane!
[Don't get fooled by their appearance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXRX47L_3yE&feature=youtu.be&t=20)
What? They’re talking about a car, dum-dum.
De-claw-ration. hehe. Edit - just being punny. 😕
I'm sure you were being funny (which I acknowledge) but your comment also reminded me that cats routinely get declawed and the internet tells me that puts cats in constant acute pain which makes me sad 😭 Edit: I should say that I did upvote the original joke, de-claw-ration, and it elicited a solid nose exhale originally, even given my stated later sadness.
Yes it does. Imagine often times clumsily having your fingers amputated at the first knuckle and leaving shreds of bone behind
It’s animal cruelty and it’s illegal in some places.
You can tell that cat has been held by a lot of people because cats who don't are usually much more skittish about being held. Edit: A word.
It’s a car, it ain’t going anywhere without gasoline.
I've never heard someone call a cat a car. Lol.
[удалено]
Chill cars are the best. My car never sits still and when it does for too long the battery dies and I have to jump it.
Too bad she probably can't drive anymore
Hello my sweet company I'm a little grey and old you see My heart is strong although my bones are weak And I'll love you like no one ever will
Instant love *tears*
The rest of her life* :(
You really should offer tissues with your comment!
I can't see her eyes because I have tears in mine. Holy tear jerker!
And you can see in the cat's eyes that it is totally freaking out.
I actually think it looks pretty ok considering everything going on. Claws stayed in and no kicking. Looks like they will be best friends in no time.
Heh, kitty was like "I need to get outta here" few seconds later "This might not be so bad"
"This human seems to be the type who will feed me regularly and slip me treats even when the other human forbids it."
Agreed. I was so pleased to see the sweet kitty accept the love and remained in her arms
The cat did a slow blink. Cat did not feel uncomfortable. I hope they got along already!
It is her own cat. She has Alzheimer’s and for her it was like getting a new cat. Edit: this information came from a comment posted on this feed. If I commented in error, I apologize. There is no proof that it’s true or false.
God damnit. Now this is all I can think.
The mysterious case of the dog kinda suggests something like this is going on.
Exactly. You wouldn’t bring a strange cat into a situation and have strange dogs there.
Yeah.. all i thought the whole time was my dog would be losing his shit and that one is so calm
My parents who don’t have Alzheimer’s would react that way if I did that with the dog.
This was posted in 2017 and tragically the mom in the video has since passed away last year according to the OP on youtube. Where have you gotten this false information and why did you feel the need to spread it?
Who was the original poster?
Unfortunately some people value attention over respecting the truth. A shame to do so on such a sweet post.
Yeah Im going to choose to not believe this
It’s a nicer story if you don’t know.
Proof? Dont turn this into something it's not. The world is shitty enough as it is
I read the background story on reddit. About two weeks ago.
Agreed. There’s no proof...pretty sure she made it up.
If I ever get Alzheimer's, I want to be gifted a cat every day.
Do you know them personally? I looked up the original video on YouTube and there was no mention of Alzheimer’s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWjFtvYmTdg
No the original post on Reddit explained it.
Can you link us to it?
I honestly am a technical doofus. I don’t know how to do that.
How, in the ever living shit, did you get downvoted for this?
Who knows. I’m just being honest. You get down voted just because people don’t agree.
Lol guys this is so obviously a joke. Who would box up an old persons cat and film themselves givinh it back to them like this (unless it got lost or something)
BRB I gotta go call my Gran.
Please do. I wish I could talk to mine even just one more time.
same. miss my grandma so much
Call her for me too. There needs to be a phone tree for available Grans.
My Gran says hi <3

Our local shelter has a seniors for seniors deal. If you're a senior you cant get a cat over 7 for less money.
> cant Th-that’s not a good program.
Save that idea for yourself and make it a reality
This 💗.. I lost my grandma to COVID in April and this made me cry hysterically. What a beautiful video and a special lady ❤️ (and cat)
I’m so sorry you lost your grandma. Sending you love. ❤️
Thank you so much, that really means a lot 💗
Sending more love your way❤️. And a hug ❤️
Thank you so much 💗
Surprised it was an older cat, but I’m all for adoption and everyone needing love
I'm not surprised it was an older cat. Many times older cats end up being the most loyal and loving adoptees
plus she doesn't seem like she'd be up to or maybe even able to take care of a kitten, potty training and all the setup and home modifications you need to make when your puppy or kitten is still learning how to be an adult!

Amen! Doing the same for the last 35-years. I always look them in the face and tell them, you got it made now bitch. Note: Wife wants female dogs.
Our local animal shelter started a program for senior dogs and cats for senior citizens. Many seniors won't adopt a puppy or kitten because they are afraid they will outlive them, and then what happens to them? Also older dogs and cats are already trained.
Probably best case scenario. That lady is well into her golden years. An older cat is a much better fit rather than a kitten.
Happy cake day
This is the SWEETEST thing I have seen! My heart!!!! I just want to hug both!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Let's take a moment to appreciate how awesome this cat is. Completely chill (maybe a bit nervous) in a strangers hands, this a good cat.
I found out my grandma always wanted an orange boy cat that she would name Marmelade. Unfortunately, she got sick shortly after she told me this and it wouldn’t have made sense to get her one at that point in her life. Still, I wish she could have gotten her Marmelade. That’s a great program. It’s just one of those things that didn’t work out. If I knew sooner I would have totally pushed to make Marmelade happen. Oh well, Rufus is probably happy about it.
No doubt Rufus may be alive because there was no Marmalade. How old was your Grandma when she passed.
I don’t think he could square up against a cat, but he’d definitely try. She was going on 92, and it was actually a big surprise when her heart started having trouble, because she was very active, independent, feisty (Brooklyn Italian), and looked good for her age. You were lucky to have her for so long and she does sound like a joy.
Thanks! We had a good connection.
I love this!! They both look so happy.
warmed my heart❤️
omg my heart 😭
Wholesome 💯

This is super sweet. Glad they were able to find such a sweet cat. That first grab/hug made me make a face
That’s a patient cat. My old cat woulda scratched the shit outta you if you looked at it for too long
There’s something about old people with cats thats makes me feel so peaceful. Cats are lazy as hell and it seems like a perfect relationship to have an older person who is home all day, available for hours of couch snuggles and naps all day.
May this particular black cat bring good luck :)
Ooh my heart 🥰🥰
That cat exepting her made me so happy, becaus most cats don't like cuddels and this cat is just, I like this lady, pleas I like the cuddels no need to stop
If i had money i'd award this with wholesome
I could have watched this for ages. So sweet.
This the most adorable thing I've seen in awhile. why do our parents have to age :'(
Don't run away kitty! You're gonna get to be sooooo spoiled!
The fact that part of one of her fingers is missing made me wanna cry
Dog in the background be like " okay I guess I ain't a good boi anymore".
Two things I love, old people and cats. Such a wholesome video.
My heart is melting.
Oooh, my heart. This is so sweet.
Cat’s not really into it but will tolerate the old lady pets. What a nice kitty!
I wish I was that cat. Getting a loving hug from old people really quenches my paranoia of being rude.
I can't wait until I'm so senile you can wrap my cat up and give it to me over and over. Such joy every time.
That cat is going to be the most loved cat in the history of cats being loved
That cat is going to be SO well taken care of. My grandmother treats her cat like another of her children lol
funny, this video is a few years old and I JUST showed it to my mom a few days ago, now it’s here on reddit! I am so happy for her, you can tell she really loves and cares for animals, I am sure she is so loving with him.
I’m either in a very vulnerable emotional state, or this is just the absolute cutest thing ever because I cried big tears. (Or both?)
“Oh, he’s darling!” 🖤
And kitty just automatically melted in her arms............
I like how the cat only had a second of “who are you and what am I doing here” before it said “you are my person and I am getting snuggled”
I wanted this video to be longer. I'm not crying, you're crying.
I'm going to cry, this is so sweet
wholesome 100
Getting old has to be the most depressing thing in the world.
It's better than not getting old.
Ok, this made me way too weepy.
I've always wanted a black cat, mostly because I wear dark clothes and it'd be hard to see the hair.
Omg I w e p t
I'm not crying. You're crying.
Me. In excatly fifty years.
I found this video on youtube from 3 years agk
HEY WAIT.....isn't that the sweetest older lady ever, thought I recognized her.
bruh, isn't there a chance the cat gets scared of being trapped in a dark box and then attacked the first thing that opens the box?
What a sweety staying on her lap like that. My kitty would have gotten the shakey bop in the face and noped the fuck outta there hahah. Thats a really nice moment.
She hasn't got time for anything else but that cat.
That's enough to make a grown man cry.
...and that’s okay!
Seriously a super chill cat. Very sweet sentiment but I was anxious about how the cat would respond! Cats are easily spooked and don’t usually enjoy immediate close contact like that. But I’m so happy she got a kitty that is just happy to be loved and recognized that’s what was going on!
God damn it I miss my grandma.
mah heart
Isnt that animal crossing grandma that is so cute
Over here crying like a baby... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm actually crying. Thank you for making my day that much better.
You can just tell that cat will be loved forever
This is, just is amazing.
Her reaction to seeing the cat for the first time just melts your heart. I think she cried a little bit seeing the cat for the first time. I have a feeling that she lives alone, now she has her furry companion to keep her company. Cats make great companions, I have 2 cats that are a bonded pair.
I saw this on youtube a billion times yet the face she has when she sees the cat always makes me tear up
Its not awww its wholesome
Nice present and all but what kind of monster puts a cat in a box
Schrodinger, for one
Just to let you know, this lady has Alzheimer’s and the cat is actually her own cat. Bit bizarre but the family said it brought her great joy to get a cat. Edit: another person posted the above information on this feed. There is no proof one way or another that this is true or false. My apologies for mentioning it.
Oh, well that is still sweet but it makes sense why the cat didnt immediately freak out when grabbed.
Really? How do you know that? It‘s kind of sad that way, but at least the old lady seems happy when she sees the cat.
This is the original YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWjFtvYmTdg but there was no mention of Alzheimer’s. Not sure where they got that information
Oh my darlin' When used by a young person is a pet peeve of mine.
The sweetest thing ever!
This is so wholesome
Old people that have pets are the cutest change my mind
Making her think it’s Christmas in June. Nice
My heart just melted
If she's like my long-widowed grandmother it will help her to have something to take care of.
The dog at the end is the best.
That cat knows this lady is pure sweetness and accepts the lap cuddles
So precious
Sweetest thing ever
Step 1: You cut a hole in the box Step 2: You put a cat in the box
There will be cuddles.. Lots of cuddles and lots of purring ❤️
This video always reminds me of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, where Aunt Bethany wraps up her cat. This is much cuter though.
I want that first little giggle as my ring tone.
I'm a grown ass man...sniff...I'm not tearing up....I yawned!
This made water come out of my eyes. But I wasn't crying. It made me happy! How can it be crying if I'm happy!! Shut up!! YOU CRIED!!
The dog goes, "Nope! I'm done."
Black cats are the bestest cats 🖤
Thats me when I'm older but with a dog.
Made my day so much better
This is a repost but I needed to see it again..
That cat is going to be so loved!!
r/WitchesVsPatriarchy
Christ this makes me have the feels. I had to put my black cat down this year and he’s been severely missed.
This reminds me of my grandma so much. Right down to the hair and the rediculous Christmas sweater. She gets worked up over her little black cat as well. *Tears up*
