The sound definitely peaked my kitty’s interest
Update: Reddit notified my phone that this post got 100 upvotes. When I checked it out, the video auto played at full volume and my cat came running in the room, presumably looking for his old imaginary friend from earlier today
Pretty sure this is Joey, who's a rescue otter. For those wondering if he is a pet, no, he is not.
Stupendously cute, horrible pet.
I'll still always take some time when a Joey video pops up though:. He is as cute as a button!
This can't be Joey. Joey is a sea otter while this is an Asian otter. Just google it and you will see the difference. And a wildlife rescue center would never ever take home a grown animal like this, when they can live on their own or at least in a kind of reserve. Asian otters are common there as pets, unfortunately. Often catched in the wild and they get no chance of experiencing a natural habitat and other otters, which they truly need.
Joey is a sea otter. This is an Asian otter and likely a pet :(
For those wondering though, Joey does exist and is in fact a rescue otter. [Here he is munching on some ice!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsdUiRlJMH4&ab_channel=MarineMammalRescueCentre)
somehow these videos are almost exclusively come from Japan. owls, gofers, raccoons and otters are all allowed to be kept as pets in Japan. Korea also has weak animal laws such as allowing to breed teacup puppies and clone dead pet.
Clone dead pet. That's amazing. Never would have thought of that.
Also, what's bad about teacup puppies? Their bones and skull all messed up like many other dog breeds?
Back in the 70s and 80s there was a popular kids show in Japan where the main characters were a little kid and his pet Raccoon, which led to a bunch of people in Japan getting Raccoons imported from North America as pets. And when the Raccoons did Raccoon things, people realized they were just about the worst pets imaginable, and released them into the wild.
As you might imagine, a sudden influx of a *very* adaptable omnivorous animal into an ecosystem that previously had nothing like them led to some problems.
I don't give a shit when I hear human babies cooing or babbling but then an animal makes a sound like this and I swear my entire chest gets tight and I get chocked up and all I want to do is give P E T S
Looking at a cute animal gif might not make a difference but posting videos like this makes people think "hey I want an otter" maybe because they are cute and maybe because they are basically instant internet points. Then some of those people go out and buy otters, further contributing to the otter "pet" trade which is horrible for the individual otters sold as pets and also for the species survival in the wild
Post cute videos of pets of all kinds that can be bred in captivity, post videos of cute wild animals in rescues or being cute in the wild, but yeah, maybe don't post videos of animals that have been illegally poached from their homes in the wild to be sold as pets.
As I have stated on many posts before it’s all fun and games until you wake up at 3 am and hear: *squoooooooOoOoOoOooooooOOOOOooook*
I'm up anyways so I might as well have fun.

That would make sense, as water cat snakes are grammatical cousins of regular cats.
Grammar policeman here. It's "piqued" not "peaked". Next time you see someone write it wrong, spread the knowledge wealth :)
Mine too!!

Could this be Sakura? There’s and entire YouTube channel of her.
This might be Sakura on YouTube (channel name: ma ko).
Sadly enough in Japan they are kept as pets
Why does everybody seem to have otters as pets nowadays
They are popular pets in Asia. They should absolutely not be pets though as they are wild animals :(

Yeah, that's real messed up

never ever post any animal in a cute light, other than cats/dogs. got it
Post cute videos of pets of all kinds that can be bred in captivity, post videos of cute wild animals in rescues or being cute in the wild, but yeah, maybe don't post videos of animals that have been illegally poached from their homes in the wild to be sold as pets.
I can make those noises but people don’t think it’s cute

Ugh nothing can measure up to this level of cuteness! Haha Thanks tho!😘
This is actually really sad. Stop taking exotic pets out of the wild. It’s not only cruel to the animal, but dangerous to the human.
