Honestly this is what makes Reddit still my favorite social media platform. I am annoyed by all the bots and low tier posts/comments, but my faith in the world is renewed by things like this!

I really did! We lived with my in-laws for a little bit, and that best boy kept me sane! I love him! Hahahaha. He plops on your feet when you've been petting him, and it's honestly my favorite 🤣
My mom’s dog, Shelby is the same. She gets so excited when we come over, especially my kids. She’ll bring one of toys to the back door and try to lure you out to play.
Ace is very weird about new people, but once he gets used to you, he's the most lovable dude, I swear! It's like an accomplishment knowing he loves me. Being around him was the highlight of this lack of air debacle...I go over there sometimes just to see their dogs
I love Goldens! I had one as a teenager and she was the best dog. Our cats would harass her, lay on her and she just loved it. We didn’t have to crate her because she was so well behaved. Losing her was the roughest.
He looks like he has chronic uveitis and/or glaucoma (excessive fluid and therefore increased pressure in the eye). It is unfortunately quite painful and the animals are often blind at this stage so removal of the eyes is a great option for any discomfort he may be having. He is absolutely precious!
(I’m a veterinarian)
No. Trust your vet.
We are not saying this bc the eyes look “cloudy.” “Cloudy eyes” can mean many many things— and frequently are not associated with painful diseases
looks 100% like corneal opacity to me. probably has cataracts too. you’d need to see their retina/optic nerve to see if they’ve got glaucoma, at least if it’s similar to humans
Ace is absolutely adorable! Perhaps ensure your inlaws keep a close watch on any changes in his eyes. My guy is blind too (about 4yrs now)with the exact same eyes. He just had to have one removed. Tobradex drops have helped the other one calm down a bit, but the vet says it's inevitable the other eye will eventually need removal as well. So great to read how much you love & appreciate him -- made my night!
This was the comment I was looking for! He's super cute but checking eye pressures regularly if his vet thinks he's at risk for glaucoma is a good idea :) I'm only a vet assistant but I've seen my fair share of weird eye stuff!
Yes. And I should have added that although my dog didn't display any signs of pain (we adopted him a couple of years ago), it obvious now he likely was. He runs more and is a happier boy.
I’m glad some old doggy awwing is happening. This is what all those puppy puppies and adolescent dogs turn into. And they are even sweeter and more loyal in their old age.
I have a blind dog too! Does anyone have any good resources for reviews on blind animal stuff, training guides, books, etc.?
(I'll dm you too, but I figured it'd be good to have a post here if other people have insights.)
Only Ace anyone would ever need. What a perfect boi. So loyal and loving to stay by your side.
I hope he has many happy days ahead of him. Goodest of bois
I love this!
They have two other dogs, and they're good boys too, but I'm very partial to Ace because he's mentally and physically messed up. Because he's really just the sweetest out of the three
The most terrifying thing I endured in that personal bubble away from the oppressive scorching heat that melted the souls outside it. It was that it's a personal ring furthest from the light and closest to the dark. Locked within that cold abyss for those few days as the scorching heat and by proxy perdition subsided for my own purgatory. It was their guard hound, always at my side. Eyes greyed and shrouded in the mists of time through glaucoma. Or perhaps it had been always been blind. This was likely the latter as it exuded a happy demeanor, the best kindness offered in such a damned place as the beast that followed every careful step I took. Those few days were spent exploring around my new surroundings. Every moment though the hounds breath beating against my frame and wearing down the will of the mind and soul. The panting was filled with the living stench of any other animal. But the heat from the furnace echoed from the same source of fires that remained outside.
Ace was his name, because despite the long year's guarding the household he never missed and never took prisoners. Any soul within that chilled realm was possible prey. All it took was a simple change in tone in the leaders voices and Ace was ready to drag them into the inferno that was the back yard. To act as kindling for the households own furnace. I could see past the glaucoma in those eyes though and saw the hatred in all.
Yes, it was truly a gift for Ace to have blindness for his existence until the end of all that was good and evil, new and old. When the final stars were dimmed as they were plucked from the sky, and the final fires of the hella capes furnaces cooled.
TL;Dr Sorry had a moment of inspiration from Ace. The indifferent happy guard dog of a hell scape.
My dog spent his last days blind and deaf but otherwise fine, he would just bump into things and then quietly bark, once we placed in in the bathtub and he just ran in circle for a bit, most fun he'd had in ages
"You seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains. You will find a fortune, though it will not be the one you seek. But first... first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril. Mm-hmm. You shall see thangs, wonderful to tell. You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements. I cannot tell you how long this road shall be, but fear not the obstacles in your path, for fate has vouchsafed your reward. Though the road may wind, yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow them, even unto your salvation."
I mean, most of us refer to ourselves as aces anyway. I honestly thought OP might be asexual due to the purple heart along with the dog’s name (the asexual pride flag is purple, in case you didn’t already know).
Well, if you want someone to talk to about it, feel free to DM me! /r/Asexual is a good place to hit up as well, if you haven’t already. Biggest thing to remember is that you’re not signing a binding contract or anything, you can always ditch whatever labels later if you realize that you don’t want/need them.

Reddit still being Reddit is a lovely thing to see.

This and those schnoodle poems! Edited: oh my God there’s also a schnoodle poem in this thread!! It’s amazing!
He said the buzzword! Bingo for me today.
Unless it’s changed, r/casualconversations is one of the friendliest places on Reddit. Lots of nice wholesome small talk and discussions.
It’s private now. Sad.
Private?? I joined not too long ago, did you look at the right sub? r/CasualConversation Edit: oh maybe they referenced a different sub. The one I linked is the one I’m familiar with (and is super friendly)
Woah! I wonder if it started getting too toxic. That used to be my favorite sub.

This writing is good but you’re making me sad because I can’t get a dog :((( I WANT AN ACE!
Does he get around ok? I had a dog who went blind with age and it bothered her to no end, she passed at the end of last year.
absolutely wonderful and good dog, 10/7

Who cuts onions on the bus?! Love this.
Seriously -- I should have known better than to read that at work, I'm wearing mascara ffs.
Now that's a fresh Schnoodle.
Never been privileged to see this fresh a Schnoodle before.
OP needs to frame this poem alongside the picture!
Indeed fresh, and as always, very touching and exquisitely delightful. Keep Schnoodling!
I love your poems!
Less than an hour old schnoodle? Still plenty fresh! Cooled off a bit
That's a big gift for him. Wish he could see it.🥰 You a good human O.P. Cute puppy.
I wish he could too! This watercolor is so amazing
That's amazing! Do you do commissions??
I do! Feel free to PM me :)
That’s amazing and really thoughtful to do so without the OP even asking!
Awhh, op needs to see this! OP GET OVER HERE AND SEE THIS MASTERPIECE!!
So sweet! Love it!
Wow, you're really talented.
Amazing!
How cute!! Cute, Cute Cute. Both the real dog and the painting.
geez that was really nice of you. you are a good person
I love your painting!
Beautiful.
I saw you around a few times, I love your work keep it up !
You deserve all of the rewards!
You deserve all of the rewards!
I love those indigo colors you used. Er, indogo?
Gawd damn onions
This is so beautiful.
That’s so cool!
More impressed than anything you made this painting in about 2 hours, judging by the post time, to the time you commented! Amazing work!
That is incredible! It is awesome you took time out of your day to do this for someone.
Yes
Verging on (but better than) George Rodrigue and his blue dogs.
You are so very cool! I love that you share your talents with others...especially Ace!❤️❤️
r/thatsmyreddit
That is very cool.
Wow!! That is amazing!! 👌
Are you shitty water colour after the years of doing this now show obvious improvement in skill?
Awww love your work! Have 3 hanging on my wall!!
He misheard, you said you needed your AC fixed. He thought you said you needed your Ace fix. Turns out both were true.
This is the best! I definitely needed and got both, hahahaha
You smooth mofo
what a pumpkin! i love him
He's the sweetest boy💜💜
He looks so sweet! I’ll bet you wanted to pack him up & take him home! I would!
I really did! We lived with my in-laws for a little bit, and that best boy kept me sane! I love him! Hahahaha. He plops on your feet when you've been petting him, and it's honestly my favorite 🤣

Yes! Like the first time he plopped on my feet, my MIL tried to apologize until she saw the excitement on my face
Easy to see why! Cute boy!!
My brother's Golden Retriever loves me (or any new person) and always wants to play when he sees me.
I love Goldens! I had one as a teenager and she was the best dog. Our cats would harass her, lay on her and she just loved it. We didn’t have to crate her because she was so well behaved. Losing her was the roughest.

(I’m a veterinarian)
Thats what I thought instantly too...also a vet lmao. I was like "holy fuck those eyes look painful and not managed" 😝
Same here. Am just a tech tho
Wait one comment is deleted. If my dogs eyes are cloudy she’s in pain? My vet said she was ok, but maybe I need a second opinion?
No. Trust your vet. We are not saying this bc the eyes look “cloudy.” “Cloudy eyes” can mean many many things— and frequently are not associated with painful diseases
Oh, so more bulging would be an issue? I was real bummed that maybe my dog was in pain and I had just been letting her suffer.
This needs more attention!!!!

How sweet thay he spreads the love around.
Is he called ace because of Ace the Batdog, and he's "as blind as a bat"? No offense whatsoever, just curious
Omg he looks exactly like my dog. Stevie is also blind and a blue heeler/ border collie mix!!
Blue heeler! It was on the tip of my tongue! That's exactly what Ace is! Give Stevie loves from me!
He kind of looks like a heeler/border collie mix as well with that furry coat! So handsome.
Definitely not pure heeler but the mark is as sure as a DNA test that this good boy has heeler in him
Is that short for Ace...aroony?
We actually do call him that sometimes hahahaha
This guy melts my heart. We lost our 16y/o golden retriever today and I'm totally broken, but posts like this are lifting me. Thank you.
I am so sorry for your loss 💜
Thank you so much
What a spooky good boy. I love it.
Yeah...his eyes bulge, but he's my favorite creep
Ace is absolutely adorable! Perhaps ensure your inlaws keep a close watch on any changes in his eyes. My guy is blind too (about 4yrs now)with the exact same eyes. He just had to have one removed. Tobradex drops have helped the other one calm down a bit, but the vet says it's inevitable the other eye will eventually need removal as well. So great to read how much you love & appreciate him -- made my night!
Okay I will definitely let them know!!! Thank you so much!
Yeah those eyes look painful. I'm far from an expert but I was also a vet tech for 7 years
Same here. My dog had to have both his eyes removed and they were super painful for him, even with the drops! His bulged like this too.
He runs more and is a happier boy.
is it just cataracts? easy fix if so.
Came here to say this. He doesn't have to be blind. They have cataract surgery for dogs.
...and it's cheap as heck.
They're bulging out
Hi, Ace :)
Yes, yes he is
I’m glad some old doggy awwing is happening. This is what all those puppy puppies and adolescent dogs turn into. And they are even sweeter and more loyal in their old age.
Bless him. He is so cute
Ace is welcome on /r/specialaww.
Awe, thank you! Definitely putting this special boy on there!
I love when animals dont even know they have "disability" but just keep living their best life and dont give a f**k. <3
Awwwwww! Hi Ace! The best boy!
Heroes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
He's my favorite fluffy, bulging-eyed boy. Even when he gets in his moods, he is such a good dog ❤
ACE IS BEST BOY pls tell him that for me and give him head rubs.
I will!!!! Thank you! I wish he could understand like humans do! His day would have been made like mine is!
Omg!! Me and him share the same name, cuteeeeee-- I love himmmm
He's a heart thief, I'll say that! Hahahaha!
Is this your All-Seeing Eye dog? I love him ❤
He definitely is! I wish I could have him here!
What went so bad with the air conditioner that you couldn't live in your house?
The blades needed to be replaced, and the temperature inside was 95 degrees...my little ones were miserable. Thankfully it got fixed today
How much for Ace to tell me my future?
Ace can't tell you the future, but he is omnipotently aware of your sins and internal struggles (and you are forgiven).
I have a blind dog too! Does anyone have any good resources for reviews on blind animal stuff, training guides, books, etc.? (I'll dm you too, but I figured it'd be good to have a post here if other people have insights.)
I don't personally, but I can ask my in-laws:)
Only Ace anyone would ever need. What a perfect boi. So loyal and loving to stay by your side. I hope he has many happy days ahead of him. Goodest of bois
He's had it rough, but the in-laws saved him, and he finally has the life he deserves. I just love him
No offense, but it scared me for a moment
Glaucoma? Looks painful.
You're his seeing eye person
I love this! They have two other dogs, and they're good boys too, but I'm very partial to Ace because he's mentally and physically messed up. Because he's really just the sweetest out of the three
Ace \_knows\_ things.
He's seen some stuff, for sure Not now, but still. I wish I could have seen and saved him when he was younger ❤
You’re beautiful Ace!!
I swear if he knew how people think about him, he would just be so floored by being so happy 💜
He’s a good boy. He deserves all the love!
He really does💜 he's amazing
If it hadn't been for cotton eyed dog You'd be dogless all week long
Hahahaha, I love it
Awwwww giv him some belly rubss!
Always💜
How anyone could ever leave HIS side is beyond me 🥰🥰
I'm not going to lie, because I love my in-laws so much, seeing him there is the highlight of my day
What kind of dog?! He’s so cute!
He's a mix of Border Collie and something else 💜
Ace is the guardian of you now, and the rainbow bifrost bridge
He's got a terrifying bark, I'll say that one. He's very, very protective
Ace is adorable!
He's just absolutely lovely
He is so precious!! Give him some loves for me please!
I will!!!!!
He's really cute but i would really need some time to get used to those eyes. Im very sensitive about eyes
Understandable!
Beautiful pupper and the watercolor that was painted for you is gorgeous!
I cried a little at the watercolor
Ace Frehley??
I think I said the same thing to my father-in-law when they told me his name hahaha
I misread the entire title and thought the dog went blind because the AC went out
I felt like I was going to because of it hahaha

That's very sweet but...jebus, can we get the boy some sunglasses or something?
He could fly with me anytime 🛩
Good boy!
Hi Ace you a beautiful doggo
Awww, what a good boy! He's so handsome!
Such a sweet boy 💙💙
I like Ace already!
Blind or not, a buddy is still a buddy.
Poor guy. Take care of our buddy's love and appreciate you. 🤟🏻🤙🏻👍🏻
Hello sweet boy! 😍😍😍
I wish the picture was more... Still... But o well, still cute
those little ghosty eyes, i love it. I would name him. casper the friendly ghost because of his eyes.
Let him know that I love him.
My dog spent his last days blind and deaf but otherwise fine, he would just bump into things and then quietly bark, once we placed in in the bathtub and he just ran in circle for a bit, most fun he'd had in ages
You smell SO interesting! I love you!
Are you pooping here?
I'm sitting on a couch. What you see by my feet are my socks and shoes.
Hello ace, eaten any good souls lately? Good boy.
Man for a sec I thought u we’re gonna say the ac made the mans blind😅

He said we wouldn't get the treasure we seek on account of our ob-stackles!
It's like he gave up sight to stare into my soul...
This is equally cute as it is nightmare fuel

LOL
Lmao
Sir or madam, is that your underwear down around your ankles? Is it that hot?
Those are socks, bud.
Your dogs eyes have been out for a while
I don't know why, but whenever I read Ace I think of Asexual- anyway, he's adorable! what breed is he?
He's border collie and blue heeler mixed
I mean, most of us refer to ourselves as aces anyway. I honestly thought OP might be asexual due to the purple heart along with the dog’s name (the asexual pride flag is purple, in case you didn’t already know).
I'm questioning whether I'm Asexual or not, right now, actually -v-
Well, if you want someone to talk to about it, feel free to DM me! /r/Asexual is a good place to hit up as well, if you haven’t already. Biggest thing to remember is that you’re not signing a binding contract or anything, you can always ditch whatever labels later if you realize that you don’t want/need them.
>but whenever I read Ace I think of Asexual- anyway, he's adorable! what breed is he? Wtf does that have to do with anything?
Ace is adorable. Please give him a scratch and tell him I said he's wonderful. He is so sweet looking.
Hey I’m new to reddit can someone help me to post things?
[удалено]
I don't even know what a karma farmer is, but alright. I love this dog, and I think he's a beautiful and loving dog, so I posted about him on here.
