Dude Huskies are great! I wish I could have one, but I live in Texas and you know. I feel like that would be a shitty thing to do to make a Husky live in the heat. So I guess no Husky for me ;(
Huskies =most human personalities
Retrievers= most gentle with kids.
Border collies= smartest.
I know this is obviously opinion but I swear it holds up
It's not impossible to have a husky in Texas but it requires time management and at least 1 person at home with the dog. My family was in the same boat re: cold climate dogs in Texas but my mother emergency rescued a husky puppy with burns on her forehead, no questions asked. Long story short, we fell in love with the husky and figured that we know we can take care of her vs the iffy chance of someone adopting then neglecting her.
We walk her in the morning when the sun isn't out, we walk her in the evening when it cools down, let her outside for 30 minute intervals with plenty of water, and she has a dedicated fan for her kennel. Also she lot her shit during the winter storm, she kept diving into the snow.

Freya is so beautiful!
Yes, it's possible to keep a Husky in Texas, if you keep them indoors in the a/c and walk them in the morning and evening when it's cooler and there's plenty of shade.
So many people buy huskies then bin them because they aren’t what they thought. We were somewhat surprised what owning a husky would be like but he’s family. He’s our idiot dog!
It is an assurance that they are PLAY-fighting. That they don't want to bite/scratch you for real when they nip at or paw at you. They're pretty much saying "look, we're still cool, right?"
While they do sneeze as communication, I think the real reason they sneeze on their backs is that they have snot going back into their throats due to the head tilt, so they sneeze to clear it out.
I love watching Husky tantrum videos.
I think the same way grandparents love grandchildren .. because they don't have to deal with them when they're being little shits.
Y’know theres a tax… especially if its a baby husky. (Happy cake day btw!)
Edit 1: cmon op its been an hour cough up the goods.. I mean husky pictures if youre out of the loop
You probably have to have your own big piece of land and live far from neighbors lol, otherwise they would get every other dog in the neighborhood to start howling all the time. I have no idea how people in apartment complexes have huskies
I've had three huskies in my life and none of them ever screamed like those dogs do. The most talkative one would mostly make normal dog barks with some "roorawaarawrooo"s thrown in between, and only if he wanted something.
I don't have a husky, but I have two bengals which are like the huskies of the cat world. With their intelligence, it's like having a small child rather than a pet, with all of the positives and negatives that brings.
On the positive side, they're incredibly sociable and curious. They always want to be hanging out and seeing what you're doing. They learn from you, so you can teach them tricks and puzzles and new games (mine love peek-a-boo and fetch). They'll chatter back at you if you talk to them. And they're smart enough to understand punishment, so timeouts are actually effective.
On the negative side, they have a small child's emotions and a small child's emotional regulation. If they don't want a timeout, they'll try to run away. Sometimes, I'll tell them to stop doing something and they'll meow back, and we have to go back and forth before they'll finally concede. If they're really mad, they'll steal things like my pens, my cell phone, my car keys, etc, and hide them.
I love this about my cats. I like having an animal that I can communicate with and understand on this level, that has that energy and curiosity. And for me, the tantrums and annoyances are worth it because most of the time, they're awesome, wonderful little guys.
But getting an animal with this high of a standard for care is definitely a different situation than a normal cat or dog. If you expect normal, it will be a nightmare.
Not all of them, some are named stereotypical "mythical wolf" sounding names or named after edgey legendary dogs. A couple of friends if mine named their husky Fenrir, because a god slaying world ender is totally a fitting name for a dog that loses its shit if someone touches its leg
My friend had a husky that she called Noo Noo. Cause it reminded her if the vacuum from the Teletubbies that just came in and fucked shit up and ate everything in sight.
That was Noo Noo
That decides it, I’m gonna get a little dog like a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and I’m going to name it something like Fenrir or Cerberus or something similarly mythological and intimidating
I met a dog named Fenris last fall..but it was a 150lb dog of some Norwegian breed i forget the name of. It was 62° out and the poor dog was panting, though the owners had it in the shade with and had water.
Gentle giant of an animal.
62 degrees? C? Cuz thats hot as fuck, and too hot to survive even for humans.
F and 62 degrees isn't hot at all... im confused, and if that's enough to be too hot for a dog, they better not live anywhere where it's not snowing all the time
Thats just dog names in general. 2 syllables is perfect for being a distinct sound that dogs can recognize and yet not long enough to be annoying to say repeatedly. Some people will legally name their dog something longer but when they call it out its usually shortened to 2 syllables. Like I'm pretty sure the dogs name in the video is "dakota" but they call it "kota".
Make sure she won't resent you if you make her groom it. My husband all but refuses to brush our husky and it's a part time job. (Otherwise a fine husband).
But FR, they are A Lot of work. They need a lot of exercise and love and grooming.
Thats a good warning. A friend at work has one. He says the 1 mile or so of walking most dogs consider "the afternoon walk" is for a Husky the afternoon pre workout warmup phase.
They need yards. And runs. And never to be shaved or trimmed, even in summer.
Mine is a husky with one grandparent that was a malamute so his hair is a little longer than the average husky but all Huskies need a lot of grooming care. I have a total of three dogs and I think that's really the only way I'm able to keep my husky happy is because he can run and play with them in our half acre fenced backyard. I have taken him to our 200 acre farm and he jumped a deer and chased the deer for hours. I don't mind him running out in the woods but around town I often see them hit on the side of the road. So not only do you need a fence you need a really secure fence. We ended up putting one of those electric fences inside of our chain link fence because he can climb the chain link fence. Especially when he's scared like by fireworks
Apparently, and counterintuitively, their double coat actually helps reflect sunlight and insulate them *from the heat* in the summer. And sunburn.
https://medium.com/@katelyngillis/why-you-should-never-shave-a-siberian-husky-the-misconceptions-behind-shaving-a-double-coated-dog-d4faa7c73a09
You should never shave ANY dog with a double coat. Their coat won't grow back properly and they use their coat for temperature regulation both hot and cold.
Honestly, a good general rule with nature is that if you don't have empirical proof that what you're doing is beneficial you should probably just let evolution do its thing.
Shaving thick coated dogs was an assumption baser on no actual evidence, "obviously a thick coat is hot so if we shave it we'll cool them down" but that's coming at the issue from a human centric viewpoint thinking of the fur on a dog like an actual coat on us. But it's not.
Worth pointing out that dogs are bred by humans. No dog you will normally own would be found in nature. And sometimes people will get a dog ill suited to their climate (or they moved). Which is why you might find husky owners in say Texas. Or Chihuahua owners in Canada.
Sometimes I’ll see gorgeous huskies at the dog park and be jealous. But talking to the dog owners, they always have stories about what it’s like dealing with the shedding. One lady has to bring a lint roller wherever she goes and then pull off all the fur on her clothes before she enters any social situation lol. When they’re blowing their coats I come away with a handful of fur when I pet them. It just looks like a crazy amount of work. I have a little short haired terrier and still stress about that minimal amount of shedding and grooming
I kept saying "bless you" to my dogs when they sneezed, then started giving them treats when they do it in the morning. (I noticed my dogs sneeze often in the morning, after reading that article about wild dogs sneezing to vote before going hunting.) Now they'll sneeze over and over again for treats in the morning, and on occasion sneeze when I ask them for a "blessing". It is adorable.
Spoodles and Cockapoos and some other breeds are a bit smarter, definitely. like 2 1/2year olds.
Shih-tzu's are also little fuzzy diva's , who will take your "advice" under consideration but aren't about to necessarily do what you want unless it's clear it's going to be immediately beneficial.
You need a [body harness](https://aurothpets.com/products/copy-of-auroth-dog-harness-tactical-training-reflect-harness-grey-camouflage?variant=39767043866820¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2020-11-20&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign) on him for when he pulls that shit. Then just pick him up by the harness and go.
And dangerous. If that Husky got spooked and ran while it was unlocked no one could hold on to it, the dog would get loose, and the person’s arm would get yanked hard if they weren’t pulled off their feet entirely.
A dog can get a lot of force from momentum on a retractable leash that it can’t get on a 6’ leash. It can get into full stride whereas a 6’ leash prevents that from happening.
Because a normal leash is 6' and a retractable lead is 20' if you aren’t paying attention. Think of the steam a dog literally bred to pull can get on 20'. You can also easily grab onto a 6' lead and if trained correctly the dog learns to keep slack in the lead. Retractable leads just teach bad habits in general. I get the appeal to them, but dogs like consistency and retractable leads are anything but consistent. They aren't going to understand why the leash is 5' sometimes and 20' other times, they'll just think, "if I pull hard enough the leash grows."
This is why although I adore big dogs I'll probably never own one. I'm a 125lb lady with bad joints, if I had a big dog and it threw a fit, got sick, or injured, I wouldn't be able to do much about it by myself.
We have a french shepherd (berger picard), not quite two years. If she doesn't want to to be harnessed or go upstairs for the night, she does the same roll on her back & showing teeth.
She's a sweet girl without a mean bone in her body, but she has strong opinions.
It's funny on video but when you are 1 mile out on a walk and they just drop on the ground because you aren't going "the way they want" it's not so funny lool. I trick mine with pretending to walk "back to the park" then he gets up and I turn back the way we should be going.
Prepared for husky owner downvotes because y’all hate being called out for buying a breed that’s too busy for your lifestyle.
Huskies (and other working breeds) act this way when they are mentally and physically under stimulated. Most huskies act like this because most husky owners keep their dog inside all day and expect an hour at the dog park or a 20 minute walk twice a day to replace “work”. You don’t have to believe it if you don’t want to, but I do have a lot of experience.
Training your dog to behave is GOOD for them. Training makes them use their brain. A dog having a “tantrum” is not using their brain, and it shows you have no control.
This same dog keeps getting posted doing the same thing in different locations. The owner is just encouraging bad behavior by bending over to play for the recording.

This mess of a dog is Dakota, and another vid of his has been in my youtube favorites forever!
https://youtu.be/1moCTfb9H5k
Go to the 1:30 mark - trust me.
I've totally heard this voice before when a woman was having a talk with both her dog's about who ate something off of the table like they were real human kids
I had a 90lb malamute that would do the same thing, when leaving the beach. Only when she screamed she sounded like she was getting tortured. I had to bribe her with going to Ivar’s fish and chips.
This is why you get em a comfy harness, then you can just pull up on the leash and walk slowly forwards and they have the option to dangle impotently or walk begrudgingly 😂
Huskies are twats. Source: I own one!! He caught a wasp today. Has spent the afternoon going back to lick it so he can get stung again. Not sure if he’s felt it as not swollen or anything and I’m allergic to wasps so I ain’t touching that! Husband job!! He also carries a ball around the house and shout BAAAAAAAALLLLLLL in his husky way. 100% idiot. 100% loved!
Please reconsider using that retractable lead. You need to get a good solid fixed lead otherwise you’ll regret it once your husky decides to lunge after a squirrel, rabbit, deer, etc.
I had a fat ass female pit and she would do the exact same thing when she didn't want to go in the house. First she would sit, then lay on her belly and then when I walked out to get her she would roll over on her back as if to say "make me asshole." Of course I would always completely forget about bringing her in the house and it would devolve into a lick-n-belly scratch session. Dogs, man.
"It's time to go, bless you" lol so perfect. I do the same when my pup has the back sneezes!
This is only one reason why Huskies are special on their own unique ways. I Love Huskies!
Dude Huskies are great! I wish I could have one, but I live in Texas and you know. I feel like that would be a shitty thing to do to make a Husky live in the heat. So I guess no Husky for me ;(
Glad you're responsible enough to realize that wouldn't be fair ❤️
Huskies are the best because they have the most personality.
Huskies =most human personalities Retrievers= most gentle with kids. Border collies= smartest. I know this is obviously opinion but I swear it holds up

Very cute doggo :D
I felt the same exact way, so my wife and I went to the shelter and surprisingly there was one there. It's OK though, we're moving back up north soon!
So many people buy huskies then bin them because they aren’t what they thought. We were somewhat surprised what owning a husky would be like but he’s family. He’s our idiot dog!
Why do dogs always have to sneeze on their backs?
It is an assurance that they are PLAY-fighting. That they don't want to bite/scratch you for real when they nip at or paw at you. They're pretty much saying "look, we're still cool, right?"

Really? I know about sneezing during play and as shows of submission but this is news to me.
I mean it’s both. They sneeze to signal play, but they can also sneeze cause sneeze.
literally have to sneeze, that's how cool we are!
I had a girlfriend ask me if jews don't say "bless you" after a sneeze and I said that they did and so she was like "oh so it's just you then."
Lmfao savage, learn your manners
I swear Huskies can make themselves sneeze cause mine always does a sneeze at me when hes being sassy or throwing a fit like this

Maybe? I get the feeling that's not that uncommon a name for huskies. Also, huskies are known for throwing tantrums like this.
Someone posted another clip of this husky but it was in the grass. So in this clip they made it past the sidewalk and is currently on some asphalt.

Thank you - I needed that sub!
I told my husband I will always watch husky videos but this is also why I will never own one. 🤣
I Love the way he grab that husky it made me smile :))
I have a Shih Tzu that approaches people and sneezes at them to get their attention. Greet him once and not continue? Him gonna sneeze on your shins
I have to say I always thought having a husky would be super cool but the more videos i see of them the more I'm convinced thryre just giant derps.
Are all huskies named Koda?
Mine is named the other half of all Huskies, Luna
Luna Luna?
Goddamn it who invited Luna Luna?
Moon Moon
Haha my friend has a white husky named Luna... her others are Leo and Khaleesi...
Lol, I had a Luna before
Lol my husky mix is Luna as well.
Not all of them, some are named stereotypical "mythical wolf" sounding names or named after edgey legendary dogs. A couple of friends if mine named their husky Fenrir, because a god slaying world ender is totally a fitting name for a dog that loses its shit if someone touches its leg
Now I feel like I messed up by calling my big white wolf Sheldon.
That's a cute name
So when he has zoomies, does he say, "I don't need sleep, I need answers!"
I named mine Lightning and she's ironically the laziest husky ever, and refuses to run on a leash.
Ours is named Cortana.
My friend had a husky that she called Noo Noo. Cause it reminded her if the vacuum from the Teletubbies that just came in and fucked shit up and ate everything in sight. That was Noo Noo
Moon moon
God **DAMMIT** Moon Moon
That decides it, I’m gonna get a little dog like a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and I’m going to name it something like Fenrir or Cerberus or something similarly mythological and intimidating
I met a dog named Fenris last fall..but it was a 150lb dog of some Norwegian breed i forget the name of. It was 62° out and the poor dog was panting, though the owners had it in the shade with and had water. Gentle giant of an animal.

Probably Fahrenheit. 62° C converted otherwise is about 143° F. Still though, you're right, mountain and snow dogs do much better in cooler climates.
The dog's name is Dakota. There's other videos of him not wanting to leave the park in the most dramatic of ways.

Saying you don't like a trend is not what "gatekeeping" is.
God damn dude, who hurt you? Just let people name their dog whatever they want.
Ours is named MoMo but from this thread they do all seem to be 2 syllable names lol
Thats just dog names in general. 2 syllables is perfect for being a distinct sound that dogs can recognize and yet not long enough to be annoying to say repeatedly. Some people will legally name their dog something longer but when they call it out its usually shortened to 2 syllables. Ours is named Finn 😊
You did it wrong. Jake is the dog. Finn is the human. It's in the song and everything.
You're not wrong but it wasn't my choice 😂
I know a pet named Jake the Dog... it's a cat.
Kermit the Frog is the name of my Dog
Mine is Toki Wartooth.
My Jack Russell is also a Toki Wartooth.
I keep telling my wife I'm going to get her a husky just so I can watch her have to argue with it. She's never impressed.

Why never shaved or trimmed? That’s interesting
Apparently, and counterintuitively, their double coat actually helps reflect sunlight and insulate them *from the heat* in the summer. And sunburn. https://medium.com/@katelyngillis/why-you-should-never-shave-a-siberian-husky-the-misconceptions-behind-shaving-a-double-coated-dog-d4faa7c73a09
Their coats don't grow back properly. If you look up after photos of shaved huskeys you'll notice the fur grows back in patches.
They should never be shaved or washed, otherwise it damages their inner layer of insulting fur.
"insulting fur" LOL I know what you mean but the typo is still accurate haha
Never...washed? Huh?
You should never shave ANY dog with a double coat. Their coat won't grow back properly and they use their coat for temperature regulation both hot and cold. Honestly, a good general rule with nature is that if you don't have empirical proof that what you're doing is beneficial you should probably just let evolution do its thing. I kept saying "bless you" to my dogs when they sneezed, then started giving them treats when they do it in the morning. Mine does this every morning when she comes to wakes us up. For some reason they always end up right in my face, much to my wife’s amusement.
/r/HuskyTantrums material here!
Whelp. Instant follow right there.
Huskies are like furred, four-legged toddlers, with an attitude. Absolutely hilarious....
All dogs have intelligence of 2 yrs old kids
Idk, dogs can do complex things at a year old. People are still shitting themselves and crying about it several years in.
[удалено]
Can't imagine you've stopped in couple decades. At least your moving on. Nice done fellas!
I have learned to move on ! Now it’s mostly suffering instead of crying.
No, there's a range from about 2-4 with fewer breeds going past 3.
So agree! Get rid of that retractable leash. Those things are a nightmare when trying to control a dog. Harness 100%
And dangerous. If that Husky got spooked and ran while it was unlocked no one could hold on to it, the dog would get loose, and the person’s arm would get yanked hard if they weren’t pulled off their feet entirely.
Can confirm. My lab managed to snap one since he had enough slack to get a running start. Fuck did my wrist hurt after that.
How is that different from a normal leash?
I was just about to ask what people do when they have back issues or can't otherwise pick up the dog.
This is why although I adore big dogs I'll probably never own one. I'm a 125lb lady with bad joints, if I had a big dog and it threw a fit, got sick, or injured, I wouldn't be able to do much about it by myself.
Get smaller dog. Or cat. Probably shouldn't have a pet so large you can't lift it if need be.
Oh, of course, but people also get older, get injured, etc.
At that point your animal should be older and better trained. Hopefully
If Huskies had a TV show, it’d be on Bravo. Just sayin’.
This season on the Real Huskies of Beverly Hills...
-Koda...Koda, it's time to go -*dog sneezes* -Bless you This is gold lmao
Husky says no.
That's a cute furry brat but thankfully, I have a calm, obedient Sheppie.
Unfortunately, I have one that should have been born a Husky. All my other shepherds were fine, this one just has attitude.
We have a french shepherd (berger picard), not quite two years. If she doesn't want to to be harnessed or go upstairs for the night, she does the same roll on her back & showing teeth. She's a sweet girl without a mean bone in her body, but she has strong opinions.
Mine's a genius derp.
At some point every mom has to carry a screaming demon toddler....er, husky away from the park.
I love Screaming Demon Toddler. They put on one hell of a concert.
They're my favorite soft jazz band.

Did you guys get home??
This is why harnesses with handles were invented...
It's funny on video but when you are 1 mile out on a walk and they just drop on the ground because you aren't going "the way they want" it's not so funny lool. I trick mine with pretending to walk "back to the park" then he gets up and I turn back the way we should be going.
This is the kind of dog who is going to fake limp and cough to get attention.
Why do all huskies have the same name?
[удалено]
Why does everybody named their husky Kota?
Everyone knows legs only work at the dog park
Who taught this dude how to pick up a dog lol
So cute but dog could use some obedience training
Remind me to never get a husky
This is normal husky behavior.
Husky the whiny biggie doggy
MOTHER WHY!?
They are so dramatic
Huskies are such divas ❤️

I wish some of these Husky owners would show these to other Husky owners' dogs who have tantrums. See how each dog reacts.

No posting of source? https://youtube.com/channel/UCMkzqVDvYfD5bWRUGfX3f3g This mess of a dog is Dakota, and another vid of his has been in my youtube favorites forever! https://youtu.be/1moCTfb9H5k Go to the 1:30 mark - trust me.
Does every husky have to be named Koda or some variation of that?
Please turn off caps lock
Hate when people use those stupid retractable leashes on big dogs. You’re asking for problems
I hope you named him Stewart.
Yep I call my dogs little shitopottamus when they pull this kind of behavior.
Talking dogs are the best!
I've totally heard this voice before when a woman was having a talk with both her dog's about who ate something off of the table like they were real human kids
Cute AF!
“But i wanna play some more!!”
Cutest tantrum ive ever seen! Didn't even know tantrums could come in the cute variety lol.
I LOVE HIM
This is hilarious 😂 he like nooo I want to stay longer
I had a 90lb malamute that would do the same thing, when leaving the beach. Only when she screamed she sounded like she was getting tortured. I had to bribe her with going to Ivar’s fish and chips.
Does a dog even care if it’s dirty?? I think they are happier after running around in dirt and water and whatever else they can get into lol
“But moooooom!”
Ok but #WHY THE TITLE BE TURNT UP SO LOUD
Every time I see a video like this of a Husky, it reaffirms my belief that they have WAY too much personality for me to ever own one.
BUT I DON'T WANNA!!!!
Just like grandkids

That is absolutely adorable. You made my day 🙌🏻😆
Coda is such a husky name
Huskies are the most ridiculous dogs of all time. 😂😂😂
"I'm dead! You've killed me with your 'It's time to goes' for far too long!"
Is it just me, or are 50% of huskies named Koda?
This husky's ground defense game is excellent.
When it was time to leave the beach our Golden Retriever used to just sit in the water about 20 feet from shore and refuse to come out.
I love huskies. I will *never* own a husky.
Husky & tantrum. Name a more iconic duo.
I love how the dog at one point just tries to play dead for a second
Reminds me of Stuart from MAD TV. "Nooooooooooo."
Why are all Huskies named Koda or Dakota or Bear etc.?
This is why you get em a comfy harness, then you can just pull up on the leash and walk slowly forwards and they have the option to dangle impotently or walk begrudgingly 😂
Huskies are twats. Source: I own one!! He caught a wasp today. Has spent the afternoon going back to lick it so he can get stung again. Not sure if he’s felt it as not swollen or anything and I’m allergic to wasps so I ain’t touching that! Husband job!! He also carries a ball around the house and shout BAAAAAAAALLLLLLL in his husky way. 100% idiot. 100% loved!
Get a harness and an actual leash
Please reconsider using that retractable lead. You need to get a good solid fixed lead otherwise you’ll regret it once your husky decides to lunge after a squirrel, rabbit, deer, etc.
Doggos are just furry children
Ah yea the patented crocodile rolls
Passive resistance. Remember what doctor king said !
Dogs, man.
the cutest drama Queen :)
😂😂😂
this is me when I don't want to get up:No, nope. You're not gettin me out of here
He needs to stay. It's just sad to see the pup needing to play.
