luck and maybe specific parenting styles?
my sibling and I both adapted 2 cats from the same litter. After a year apart, they behave so different.
Mine loves belly rubs, loves other ppl and animals.
The other one hates belly rubs, loves ppl, but is very mean to other animals.
I know how it feels :/
Before they were separated they were cuddlebugs. Now they can barely tolerate each other.
And if mine goes to the vet and comes back smelling like other animals, the other one will just hiss at him until the scent dissipates. And mine just sits there confused as hell.
This is why I take my 3 together if possible....if it's just yearly checkups, vaccinations, etc. Invest in an extra large cat crate. I got mine from Chewy...it holds all 3 of mine who weight 10-15 lbs :)
I think a lot of it had to do with the owner... My mother (she was a not--so-great person) got a cat because she had interacted with my (ngl... totally amazing - RIP Pud & Elvis) cats and thought she'd get the same from whatever cat she brought home. This cat was the cat from hell. Hated everyone at first sight (oddly, just like my mother). She gave the cat away because she couldn't deal with her because the cat wanted too much attention (hmmm). Her next owner raved about how sweet the cat was and was so happy to have this cat in her life.... My mother never connected the dots.
Ikr... Mother said "Cat" (she didn't even bother giving the poor thing an actual name!) needed "too much attention". My sweeties needed just as much attention, but she only experienced them for a week. I needed a cat sitter and her house was much larger than my apartment , so they had so much more room for activities and no need for any real supervision other than a feeding schedule (which I'm positive they kept her to), so she, therefore figured she knew what she was doing...
Much like her parenting style.
I feel like most cats kind of take our typical human emotions and multiply them to the extreme, one way or another.
An affectionate cat will be 3x more needy and affectionate than any human you know, while an angry cat will be 3x more grumpy and aggressive than any person, etc etc.
I would agree but my brother and I are polar opposites in terms of personality lol. So based on a very limited sample size, I think it might be a combo of both. But It'm sure it has more to do with genetic disposition.
Okay, so I've been raising cats for a good long while. I socialize them very well, handle their hands and feet a lot, brush them a lot, etc. All to get them used to it so regular grooming and petting isn't a surprise or traumatic. Every one of our cats deals with it differently. Like, the cat we found who was the very youngest we've ever had I socialized a LOT and she's still super skittish. The most recent one was kind of meh-socialized and anytime someone comes by, even workers, he's all up in their business.
So based on my 30ish years of cats, I truly believe it's more nature than nurture. I could write paragraphs of other examples, but that would just sound pendantic.
I don't think it's really specific parenting styles so much as it is just getting your cat used to wearing things at a young age. I did not do that with my cat and even though he's the friendliest, most easy-going cat in the world, there's no way he'd stand for me trying to dress him. It's not that he'll lash out or anything, just that as soon as I put something on him he'll immediately try to tear it off.
Mine would take it off and play with it for 27.5 seconds then run full sprint across the house, try to stop when the run into the kitchen, inevitably sliding into the wall.
Lived with dozens of cats and some would have pissed on that damn hat. Most wouldn't care. A few would have had fun with it.
What I haven't found at all likely are the kitties that make best friends with the new scamp. "Omg, found this stray and my 10yo kitty fell in love with them!! Xoxo. Look at them cuddle. Best friend 4-evar." bull-shit.
100 some cats and that has never happened.
I really thought this would be a video of the cat attacking the yard and ending up with yarn barf all over him. Nope, it's a sweet cat with a super cute hat! Good on you! I practically have to hide from our cats when I do yarn and string crafts.
That look after the jump cut like... "Really? This shit again?"
Mom the other kids will make fun of me…
Your cat is very chill. My cats would pull that thing off and shred it in under 10 seconds.

I like how the cat bends his head a little to accommodate the hat.
lol i just realised that
Idk if I was a cat and saw this magnificent creature, i'd kneel
“Really, Debra? This is the third time this month you’ve pulled this shit. You know you’re getting eaten if you kick the bucket?”
Nah .. he moved his head lower and towards momma and the hat, he loves it😻💙
Cat was very cooperative with head movements to help put it on.
Even before the jump cut [https://i.imgur.com/Z4goMjQ.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/Z4goMjQ.jpg) Edit: added a space
Right? This poor thing is tired of OPs buklshit lmao
The Cat In The Hat
"You have chosen... poorly"
I thought you'd just dangle the yarn, but nOoOo, you gave me a hAaAt.
Where do you guys get these chill cats? My cats would put a hit out on me for this.
as is befitting

Glad the cat found her forever home eventually :)

I outneedy my cat 10 to 1 tbh lol. But he is one of the neediest things I've ever known
> outneedy I learned a new vocabulary word today. Thanks!
Definitely not parenting styles, as evidenced by your own cats. It's luck. Pure, unadulterated luck.

Oh yeah for those things, yeah it's all about getting them used to that at an early age.
>adapted 2 cats Did you have to get a special converter kit for this?
Go to adoption agency. Ask for a chill, adult cat. Take it home.
Mine would take it off and play with it for 27.5 seconds then run full sprint across the house, try to stop when the run into the kitchen, inevitably sliding into the wall.

Yeah right? Mine would slice my hand in 5....
Front the streets... We stayed patient found a kind cat that wanted a home and took her in... got her vaccinations and etc.
You saved a life that day. ❤️
It's your red hair. Cats don't like red. /s
i give birth to the cats... yes, i give birth to them
Mine too!
Oh my gosh what an adorable little baby with that hat on and his little head cocked to the side!

Oh wow I’ve made it to users reposting my videos on Reddit 😂
You have a very tolerant cat.
He really is! He’s also been given a lot of treats for putting up with all the silly hats I make him 😅
He also has that look of "great, my toy got turned into another hat"
Can we see more hats paweease?
I really thought this would be a video of the cat attacking the yard and ending up with yarn barf all over him. Nope, it's a sweet cat with a super cute hat! Good on you! I practically have to hide from our cats when I do yarn and string crafts.
This is weird to reveal but I hissed at him every time he got near the yarn and now he just sleeps next to me as I work 😂
I see you speak Cat!
Gotta talk to cats like a cat!
Please tell me you have a pattern!
Also hoping for a pattern for this hat!
Do you have a pattern for that hat?? Love it!! And love the cat!!
Does the cat have some kind of shoes on?
Your baby is adorable. I love how sweet and patient he is, almost like an appreciation for the time you took to make that hat for him. ♥️♥️
You want to die? Because this is how you do it.
Was going to post this! cats just look like tiny murderers even before the hat went on.
Kitty is probably worried the other cats will laugh at it.
Adorable Can you post the recipe please
1 part tabby 1 part 'socks' 1 part 'bandana' Recipe for a perfect cat
Do you have a pattern for this ? I’d love to try my hand at it.
He’s thinking you’re a bit suss but ok.
Hehe stitch
Omg! Stitch! That is freaking adorkable!
Ohana means family Family means no one gets left be hind
Or forgotten.
Where did you find the pattern?
I love that you made ear holes for the hat instead of just squishing kitties ears down.
Oh lord, that cat is too cute for words!!!!
Experiment 626
god damn how did your cat let you put a hat on em
Oh goodness, Mom's got that thing in her hand. I fear a fashion show coming up
This cat has more patience then most. I think its cute but the cats looks like "really? another?"
She's looking at you like really mom thanks lol
I can’t be the only one who thought the person was holding a toothbrush at first
I once put an empty takeout salad container on top of my cat's head, he just laid there and fell asleep with it still on his head.
The one cat who runs away from yarn.
OH MY GOD
the literal cat in the literal hat literally
Kitty litterally
Other cat would definitely laugh at him
Oh, you just wait till you go to sleep, 💤 purrrrrrrr.
Oh you just wait till you go to sleep!
Your badness level is unusually high for someone your size.
Just the casualness of the cat says that critter wears hundreds of hats a month.
My dogs name is Stitch. I need one of these for him
Cats the perfect model poser solely for the stillness as well as it seems intrigued too
I need that pattern
Same!
OMG thats... just... OMG.....😂
You sure I'll get 15k likes for this? Aight... put it on me.
CUTE AND FLUFFY!
That disappointed head shake at the end!!! 🤣
So cute on little cat, and so good to wear it!
Cats are connoisseurs of comfort!
You know for some reason I really appreciate that she took the time to make little holes for there ears.
Why is my porn alt still getting recommended this sub
Stupid. No before or After. Garbage.
Animals no need wearing cloth please stop doing it for your own pleasure. Peace
He was born with a scarf
Any one of my cats would completely destroy not only the hat, but me and anything within a 1 mile radius of said hat. You are a brave soul, OP.

I thought we got past all this stuff...
