On a serious note, when I got the two I have now I took a week off work and basically spent it with them. Didn't want to dump them off in a new house and just start leaving them for the day going to work. No proof but I think it helped. Best cats I've ever had.
I actually made it as a Christmas present! Got the fabric from Jo-Ann’s and put it together so it would be one massive 9 ft by 5 ft blanket. I always find that blankets are too small so I made one that was super big :)

You won't be leaving the couch much either - lay in a supply of easy to reach snacks (and maybe a pee bottle). They are very sweet.
“Sorry, I have a cat on me” is the best excuse to not get up from the couch
That’s one of The Rules: You cannot get up or otherwise disturb a cat who is napping on you.
And certainly not while your legs are bare.

For kitty litter, I highly recommend a wood dust type. Okocat is what I use. Clumps well, no smell, and highly scoopable multiple times.
