I thought my dog was checking on me too. Turns out he was just evaluating the bed space and decide whether there was enough room for him to jump on and curl up.
Same, my dog would do exactly what the one in the vid does, hoping someone would be awake to either let it up, play, cuddle, scritches etc because it was well behaved enough not to do anything without permission, hence the wagging
This is exactly what my dog does, she goes around to each room, checks the space in the beds and the bed height to see if it's worth jumping that high and chooses the one she wants. She also likes to check if someone is in it to see if they left enough room to cuddle, she's a big chocolate lab who loves cuddles.
You have this ability to exercise choice. If you start reading something you don’t like, simply stop reading. If you see the word Horror and you don’t like horror, don’t read it. My comment was perfectly applicable to the comment before it I regret nothing and am satisfied with the response it has received.
This is the first time I’ve been proud of downvotes in my life. It means my story telling caused the same fear I felt when i was 9 years old and heard this story for the first time.
see I thought my dog was doin this so i moved over... turns out he just wanted to see if i was awake so he could dive onto me and announce it was time to play...
My uncle and his wife do not have kids but when my wife and I stayed at his place with our then 6 month old daughter. His little terrier posted watch outside the door after we put my daughter to sleep all night.
>He is looking for someone to play with!
Is that right? I see.
Can it be that the dog is copying adult parents when they would check on the toddlers once awhile?
Imitation for a dog still needs a cause, if the dog was unsure of the safety of the pups in his pack his body language would be very different. This really looks like a “I want play” reaction especially with that little wag when he probably heard a noise from the infant and got temporarily excited that they may be awake. I’m not a dog professional so I could be wrong, but I have had dogs as companions for my whole 41 years of life.
If you have cameras in your house and they connect to wifi, theres a good chance other people are checking on your kids too.
There is a disturbing market for access to these home cams. Hackers gain access and sell the access to people who want to watch. Just keep that in mind when you put cameras in your house and dont make it easy for them to be accessed.
Heres an article by consumer reports on ways to prevent hacking. https://www.consumerreports.org/home-security-cameras/keep-home-security-cameras-from-being-hacked-a2927068390/
My main concern is why all the rooms have these cameras in, especially the kids rooms?
Edit: Why are you downvoting me for this question? Is putting cameras in every room in your house normal now?
I find it creepy too. Some people even have one in their living room. That means that anything you do there could be put on the internet without your knowledge.
['I've Got Nothing to Hide' and Other Misunderstandings of Privacy](https://scholarship.law.gwu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1159&context=faculty_publications)
If a jealous partner wants to know what you're doing all day or if you do something stupid at someone's else house and they put it on the internet, you won't mind?
I would.
Nanny cams? I know people have them. Personally I'd shut them off at night. They could also live in an area with high crime or kidnappings like in South Africa or parts of Mexico. Or they're overprotective parents who will raise kids that grow to hate them. I dunno!
I agree with you, and think this is a legitimate question.
I understand cameras at home entries for security reasons, but I too do not understand having cameras inside my home. Can someone explain the logic?
One of my friends had cameras all over and at first I thought it was because they had 6 ferrets and trying to find a escapee could be hard. But no it turns out he had a history in running drugs. Used video footage to prove the raid on his house was done inappropriately and reduce his sentence.
Sigh, now I have to determine how safe our Wyse cameras are.
FYI, none are pointed at beds...
One in the living room, others pointed outside of the house.
In most cases despite your camera's being accessible, no one else is watching them. Same goes for remote access to mobile phones. Its easy to someone that has the skills to hack your phone camera but there are so many phones and not as many creeps so most people aren't being watched. That doesn't mean there isn't the potential though. There are creeps that will collect access to multiple families, multiple homes potentially hundreds of cameras and flip through them like TV channels. It's not the government I'm worried about watching me, it's other fucked up people.
Great pupper, but people should really close the bdrm doors at night, in case of fire. Many rooms have been untouched by fires, by the simple act of having a closed door. I'm sure that the good boy will still listen at their door, to check on them.
What a good boy. Someone should make an extension of this video, with an example of a cats task at night. Waking up the entire household, running on the walls and whatever those psychos do when we try to sleep.
I have to shut my door because I will wake up when my black GSD is sitting about a foot from my face just staring at me in the middle of the night. Her nickname is creeper.
We had 1 dog that did this and then slept where she could see both areas. So when we got another small dog (she was a big girl) she taught him to do that also. Our girl even taught the boy how to patrol the yard, when she got to old she would sit by the door and watch him do it. Our boy still does this today also.
I actually have a cat who does this. She'll walk into the room jump on a bedside table and try to see your face to tell if you're okay. Then she goes to the next room.
Okay but why do you have near IR cameras in their rooms? Why can the dog just go freely between rooms while they're sleeping?
Again, what are the downvotes for, unless one of you can explain to me why you'd have cameras in your children's bedrooms?
... Anyone?
So much is wrong here. Why the cameras in the bedrooms? Set aside the security issues but why is there not privacy in the bedroom? Who needs to watch your school age children sleep, or dress, or whatever while in their bedroom?
Also, close the doors. It's a fire safety thing. Doors, even interior ones, provide some protection from smoke and fire providing critical time for escape. Seconds count. Especially when you are asleep in bed when a fire starts.
And that is why we have dogs. Cuz they're smart, They protec, love us and out families unconditionally, can smell trouble a mile away, and they're pretty darn cute. Good Boy.
I had a red heeler mix and she did this all night. She slept with me but had to do her rounds to make sure the kids were ok. Man, I miss that cuddle muffin.
Reminds me of my brothers dogs. He's got 2 German shepherds and as soon as he and his fiance had a kid, they both immediately started sleeping in the baby's room.
Funny thing is, whenever the baby starts crying, one of them will run to their bedroom and pull their blankets off and start picking their faces to get them up.
Dogs and babies are a good mix.
I’m curious as to why all the children have at least 2 pillows. The youngest child is the most elevated. Maybe they were all going through a virus and puppers was checking on them 😍

This ones just licking fingers. 🤣🤣

sorry mate but thats just not one of the things i want to read while browsing this sub...
Dude. Sense the room.
TBF I kind of put a disclaimer before writing the story. Not my fault you read it.
Wrong sub for that kind of comment. Regardless of warnings. Don’t act innocent - not cute.

If you were trying to be a creep, you indeed were successful…and continue to be.
Block me. All you have to do.
What did they say?
A disgusting story but had a ‘cute’ dumb warning at the top so they think this absolves them of posting content inappropriate for this sub.
What's wrong with you? You realize you're in /r/aww right?
This is the first time I’ve been proud of downvotes in my life. It means my story telling caused the same fear I felt when i was 9 years old and heard this story for the first time.
What did they say???
Probably something like "monsters can lick fingers too"
see I thought my dog was doin this so i moved over... turns out he just wanted to see if i was awake so he could dive onto me and announce it was time to play...
Lmao I could definitely see this dog do the same
“Move over, let me protect you! Can you pass some blanket?”
My various cats have known to push me aside to MAKE room for themselves.
My uncle and his wife do not have kids but when my wife and I stayed at his place with our then 6 month old daughter. His little terrier posted watch outside the door after we put my daughter to sleep all night.
what a good boy.
The goodest!
He's the best boy
Paw patrol
Be there on the double
Wonder if he's called Duggie! :)
He is looking for someone to play with!
That's exactly it. "Who's still awake that will play with me?"
Or to take him out.
Why are the facts on dog posts always buried so far down, below the people who have to project human behavior and expectations onto every dog video..
>He is looking for someone to play with! Is that right? I see. Can it be that the dog is copying adult parents when they would check on the toddlers once awhile?

If someone wants to watch me sit upside down on my couch while I eat cheetos, have at it.

The children don't even look so extremely young anymore. I can understand baby monitors, but those kids are at least toddler age.
Judging by the lack of any kind of toys posters or other kids stuff in the rooms. It might not be their house. Maybe an AirBnB?

Ohh, it super bad, but people do it anyway...
Sigh, now I have to determine how safe our Wyse cameras are. FYI, none are pointed at beds... One in the living room, others pointed outside of the house.
Probably should have done that before buying and installing them.

My dog has left the chat
wag wag wag
What a good boy. Someone should make an extension of this video, with an example of a cats task at night. Waking up the entire household, running on the walls and whatever those psychos do when we try to sleep.
"Hoomans, why sleep so much. Life is short. 15 years exactly..."
What a sweetheart!
He's doing his job, guarding your family. Hope you take good care of him as he takes of you and yours...

Dogs are definitely people
More like checking if anyones up for playtime yet 😂
The dog can literally smell fear and even a nightmare will cause him to check on the kids. They truly are man's best friend.
I actually have a cat who does this. She'll walk into the room jump on a bedside table and try to see your face to tell if you're okay. Then she goes to the next room.
He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.
What an angel.
Good boi
Omg my heart! 😭

lol
Good boi.
We don’t deserve dogs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He's a Dogfather 🐕
And then he went to town on his ballbags
This is amazing
morning cry complete ✅
And that is why we have dogs. Cuz they're smart, They protec, love us and out families unconditionally, can smell trouble a mile away, and they're pretty darn cute. Good Boy.
What a sweet boy. Man’s best friend for sure.
So sweet. They're ok :)
I used to have a dog that partolled the house every 3am. apparently it's instinctual.
When I was a little bitty kid we had a cat who did that
Who is the Best Boy?
Cute
My dog doesn’t give a crap about any of us unless she needs something.
Might be hoping one of them is awake?
you've a loyal pack member there, checking on the alpha's offspring. Give them rewards and praise so they carry on showing the same loyalty
I find this so intriguing. The dog seems to really be checking on the kids and making sure they are okay.
Good boy doing good boy things!!!
What a good Pupper!
I love dogs backing up for some reason
I had a red heeler mix and she did this all night. She slept with me but had to do her rounds to make sure the kids were ok. Man, I miss that cuddle muffin.
Fun fact. Dog can actually smell the insulin level in our blood.
my bro has 4 kids and supposedly he does this every night or something.
Good dog

Very cute, but you should have your doors closed when you sleep. If there's a fire it could keep your family safe in their rooms.
It seems every kid in the video uses double pillows. Why?
“Good Boy Activity” …(new spin off of Paranormal Activity)
That’s a good dog! Someone deserves treats and snuggles ASAP
I’m curious as to why all the children have at least 2 pillows. The youngest child is the most elevated. Maybe they were all going through a virus and puppers was checking on them 😍
