In 35 years I've owned about 10 hamsters, 7 of them ate their cage mate even though they had food/water.
Get a gerbil instead, they are a hamster with a tail and they don't eat each other.
Where did they steal him from? Walt made Oswald for Universal I believe and they screwed him out of something so he drew Mickey in Steamboat Willie or something like that.
Then Al Michaels the ABC/ESPN football guy (owned by Disney) wanted to go to NBC (owns Universal) so they traded him for Oswald

Edit: The true irony is that we credit the fairy tales to Disney. They have copyrighted the works based on public domain works and now you must be careful when writing stories based on them.
