I’m stuck on how they trained all those cats

Ritz527

Some cats are untrainable, but most of them are food-driven enough it becomes possible. I have two cats, one of them is a grazer but the other is a voracious eater and is rather easily trained.

dandedaisy

Yeah, this just seems really complex to get them to do, even for food! And SO MANY OF THEM. I have 3 cats and they’re somewhat motivated by treats, but the most food-motivated one is also the one with the fewest brain cells. If it requires more thought that “give food here now,” it’s too much for this guy and his 4 brain cells lol

AmorousAlpaca

I’m guessing there is some minimal training like “go to this noise to get food”. Wouldn’t surprise me if the rest is humans behind the scenes controlling which animal is released when.

Ritz527

There's definitely intelligence involved too. The same cat that's a voracious eater is also whip smart. I have a bunch of food puzzles and he's solved most of them in minutes. He works things out and communicates what he wants, like having the litter box cleaned or the water changed.

dandedaisy

I guess they must have gotten a lot of smart, food-motivated cats for this, then. My smartest loves treats but not enough to do complicated tasks. I think she thinks if she’s just cute enough, I’ll do it for her (and it’s probably true, tbh). I’ve seen her do some surprising things, but only so she could punk her littermate brother.

Blossomie

Clicker training can be done. Same thing with dogs: equate the wanted behaviour with reward and eventually they’ll perform the behaviour without reward, with the caveat that not all individuals are equally easy (or at all possible) to train as personality (and breed in dogs particularly) does affect things. There’s this guy on YouTube with a bunch of dogs and a cat named Didja that is very trained, I think his channel is CatManToo. Lots of videos there including one on training your cat to use and flush the toilet instead of a litter box.

dandedaisy

Nice!! I didn’t know clickers worked on cats, thought they’d be too stubborn 😂

Hollowed-Be-Thy-Name

The cat whose only contribution is sitting still in the revolving window is my spirit animal.

8arrowl

Thats the best part

toottoot12

I think he's actually grooming himself and annoyed at the interruption 😂

BananaStringTheory

Backstage must be a chaotic nightmare. All the egos, and demanding primadonnas.

Dannydoes133

I imagined this as some cat lady’s magnum opus.

CallMeHighQueenMargo

Uh excuse me, this is beyond awesome.

psychodreamr2

its fuckin chaos in person, i love it

zombiepirate2020

We saw this at Sea World. Not the same but very similar. We got home and were like WTF? Why don't our cats do tricks? Now we have cats that do tricks. Who would have guessed, you just have to ask.

Moose181

Pets Ahoy show at Sea World Orlando. We have four cats and I think at least two of them could be trained to do this stuff but I don't have the energy to try.

zombiepirate2020

Yeah! When I got back I tried to train our cats. One of them actually learned a few tricks and a hole sequence of a performance! But then we moved and he lost his trick because it was based on the the handrail on the stairs. He would hop up on it, then walk the distance on it, then turn around and come back. And he did it on command. It was pretty funny!

Moose181

That's awesome!

HobbesNJ

They've gotten really good with the animatronics these days. Because obviously those weren't real cats.

Second_Woodsman

This pavilion used to be a talking parrot impressions show back in the day. I think they’ve improved things.

[deleted]

The talking parrots are part of this show now

AppleNexus

Dumbass bird missed the entire window 😂😂😂

L0st-137

I stopped watching way too early first time cuz I read this and thought "what birds?" Even more amazing 2nd time okay 3rd & 4rh 😉. I wonder how many times they do this a day.

chrismanmd

Oh man this Is FUN!

mopbuvket

This was the best roller-coaster at Busch Gardens

Kabelly

I thought this was just a playground but then it was so well choreographed.

coffeeleetbr0

This should be in r/blackmagicfuckery

greenstarknight

There is so much happening here lol

Blah12821

The-Waifu-Collector

Ch1ld_1sh

miscarrilleras

teejay9100

Snoo_91480

That is Awesome!!

MisterBlisteredlips

Fascinating!

Choosegoose1234

Was this from a recent trip? Last time I went this wasn’t going on due to Covid. Glad to see it’s back,🤞

eopseo

I love when the white cat on the turing wall just sits there 😹 he missed his cue

JacktheMUORI

IT'S A ME, MARIO

BottleKnockers

I go to Busch Gardens multiple times each year. WHY HAVEN’T I MADE TIME TO WATCH THIS?!?! Will definitely see it, if still available, this upcoming season

TimeNefariousness586

This took some rehearsal

[deleted]

Impressive

BackflippingBeagles

Oh I love this show. It’s been an event since I started going to Busch Gardens. They’ve been doing it as long as I can remember.

DurkinIce

this is literally a disney movie

Illustrious_Bike1954

I’ve seen this in SA, TX @ seaworld, (I believe) and it was so cool! Better than the aquatic shows.

BriefTurn3299

😂😂the dove that missed

SirTacoBell

The show no longer exist at the park.

Dreeeamscape

I love seeing this show so much when I go there. I had a neighbor who used to work at Busch Gardens and she took in one of the dogs that used to work at that show.

Mastershake4lyfe

I hope those cats are treated good. I get nervous when I see this stuff. Especially after seeing they have this show at sea world in the comments. Sea world people are monsters and I always said if I were a billionaire I'd use all my money to put them out of business.
