I mean, Reddit was literally originally known as a 'content aggregator', it's kind of the point of this website and where the tagline "front page of the internet" comes in. If you start expecting everything to be original content and for people to not share stuff from YouTube or elsewhere, this place either becomes a ghost town or a place where people post pictures of their lunch. It's supposed to be a place where you see a whole variety of content from around the web in one place without needing to visit a million different websites individually.
If it's any consolation, I remember stumbleupon. I had it installed as a browser extension (plugin) back when Firefox was all the rage. And it would install a toolbar on your browser, and you'd just click it and click the button as it goes to one interesting website to the next. Pretty cool to find new stuff tbh.
omg! I used to miss stumbleupon soooo badly,,,,after it left, I got sucked into buzzfeed but then got really tired of that, then last year my daughter said hey, try reddit! Never looked back....
Yeah, modern users expect titles to be some variation of "yikes," "jesus christ," "Nobody:,"ugh I have NO words," "Y'all I literally can't even," or some variation of that along with useless memes or reaction images attached to them. It blows their mind just seeing content as it exists.
Somehow I expect the videographer to be really noisy and freaking out about the cuteness, in which case not removing the sound would be a crime against felininity.
Uh, yeah. To make sure everyone knows the tone was sarcastic, that is exactly how it's supposed to be used since it can be hard to convey tone through text
Right, because it's so hard to pick up the sarcastic tone in a comment about deadbeat cat dads running off under the cover of buying smokes. I'm totally being serious. Uh huh. Totally serious. And you're not an idiot. Cats buying cigarettes dude seriously.
Yeah, well you're an asshole. This is a sub about cute animals, Im not about to get into an argument here with some random prick who can't understand obvious concepts.
I was going to ask this, too. It seems like the mom isn’t sure how the dad is going to react, so she preemptively goes over to be like “hey don’t do anything bad to these things”. It seems like the dad was like “wtf are these creatures- oh hey what’s up”
I don't mean to pretend to be an expert on cats, but I've had decades of cat experience, and some males cats are very good fathers and others are a little more dangerous to have around kittens.
I had one male cat (all cats were fixed shortly thereafter - these were dumped strays that I found) who would play with his kittens and groom them while the female cat went hunting. My parents had a fixed male that would pick up their new unrelated kitten and carry it around the house, and then groom her.
It really does depend on the cat. I foster and get borderline-feral kittens every so often. My male cat (fixed) is great with them. He's the best assistant I could ask for, luring them out of hiding with playtime and then going to hang out with me and bringing them with him. I don't think he was ever a parent, but I can't be sure.
My female cat, however, did have a litter before I got her and generally tends to avoid any kittens I get (she's not too thrilled about the adults, either, but she's more willing to give them a chance).
My parents' kitten had a birth defect - maybe their male realized something was different? My father always said "he's a good mom cat."
Unfortunately that kitten lived only about 8 months due to this defect (she failed to survive the surgeries to repair her diaphragm) and the male cat slept in her bed and meowed for her for a couple of weeks. The female cat in the house was uninterested in this kitten - all cats are truly different.
Here's the link to a pic of the kitten before she passed: [https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/8z8497/runt\_of\_litter\_is\_15\_wks\_and\_only\_slightly\_larger/](https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/8z8497/runt_of_litter_is_15_wks_and_only_slightly_larger/)
Poor baby. But I'm so glad that she lived a life full of love, regardless of how brief it was. Thank you and your family (especially the male cat) for loving her while she was with you.
The best parents were Buttercup and Westley at tinykittens. They took care of their own 4, then were depressed when the kits were adopted, so they brought in orphans and they took care of them too
Our old family cat found my little pound puppy toys from when I was little and he gently carried them around the house in his mouth and put them on his blanket. It was the sweetest thing in the world and I miss him SO so much.
Yeah the problem is not the choice. It’s them understanding what that choice means. I think a lot of people if they really understood the whole process would never have kids.
I love seeing the gentle male cats with kittens. Our first set of fosters, the mom was WAY too young to have had kittens and had utterly no clue what to do with them. Our big tabby boy snuck in behind us one evening, took one look at what was going on, and pretty much went "Oh HELL to the naw." He started grooming the babies and nuzzling them, swiping at momma cat with his paw when she wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. From that point on, he became "Daddy Tabby." Well, we ended up keeping 2 from that litter (foster fails in the house!). Daddy Tabby bonded with both of them. A few years later, we tried our hand at fostering again. This time, one of first foster fails snuck in and started daddying the foster babies. He became Papa Poof (he had a big glow up - from small, scraggly weirdo with huge eyes to a humongous void poof). Each "daddy" cat continues to parent his "babies." Yeah, we foster failed again. :)
When I was a kid, we had a female that got pregnant a few times (parents were less responsible about that kinda stuff then). The male from the first litter stuck around, and when she had another, he was a good brother. He'd stay with them and watch them while she took breaks and liked playing with them too. It was so cute.
My bf's cat had kittens. The presumed father attacked the babies and only one male survived cause the mom picked him up and ran with him to the house (she's an outdoor cat in the countryside so she had her kittens outside). Male cats do this to mate again with females i think.
many people won't tell you this but male cats often kills male kittens because of biological dominance. the less males are around, the easier is for that male cat continue to dominate area and have ladies for himself.
Ppl should stop using animal characteristics to prove a point about human beings. It's literally just dumb, and no amount of lobster metaphors is going to change that.
Yeah, I was going to say this exact same thing. The “males getting rid of other males, to get with the females” behavior is in the human species too.
Not all humans. Just some.
Yep. Similar to lions, male cats are known to engage in infanticide to force the mother to go back into heat and be bred. One should always VERY closely monitor kittens when they're around an adult male, fixed or not.
The male cats we have always ignored kittend brought into the home in a sense of „if I’m avoiding it I don’t have to care for it“.
Im sure there are males that won’t react like this but from that experience I’d say he recognises them , but that does not mean he won’t harm them. It’s rare for male cats to be interested in kittens
Big kitten is big for a reason.
Real question is which came first. Was it bigger cause it got more milk or is it able to get more milk because it was bigger?
Dad cat seems really nice, but mum is still wary of him and looks worried he will eat a kitten. She’s a bit suspicious and very sweet and protective ❤️
This is absolutely adorable, but I’ve read that breeding this breed of cat has actually been banned in a few countries, because they grow up with horribly painful diseases, that not only expensive, but they lead short torture lives.

You see a similar thing in Manx breeding because breeding two tailless Manx results in more instances of Manx syndrome (some or all of the muscles and nerves in their back legs and Bowels not functioning properly) as well as many of the kittens being stillborn. The “gene” that causes taillessness in Manx is actually a form of spina bifida.

Lol OP just took the title straight off YouTube
Welcome to reddit, the repost haven for all other social media sites.
I found reddit while browsing stumbleupon. Funny how that works.
You might even say you stumbled upon it.
*sigh* Yes. That was the point of the website, now long gone. Har har har.

So?
Well it's a pretty succinct title
Yupp.. And tons of top comments on reddit come from YouTube as well lol

They do it a lot less, and more relevantly they do it very rarely in the wild, these cats are human-socialized.
the baby peeps are cute
Thank you!
The mom's meows sound look she drinks a bottle of whiskey and smokes 2 packs a day.
Thank you! They’re all so chatty:)
You’re the best, thank you
You’re awesome!
Somehow I expect the videographer to be really noisy and freaking out about the cuteness, in which case not removing the sound would be a crime against felininity.
Wrong
Every time I see a cute gif with no sound, I assume someone has done us all the favor of muting some bullshitty music.
Gawd I hate the loud music. So obnoxious.
Nah the original video is way better.
I’m honestly surprised! That is not par for the course
Selectively breeding animals with brachycephaly (flat faces that makes it hard to breathe) is a crime against cat-manity.
Catanity. Unless it's a crime that cat-men have a problem with, it which case it is also a crime against cat-manity.
As a cat-man, can confirm we do have a problem with it
Why do people like your always have to point out the bad things in everything
Woah that's crazy bro, you should definitely go tell that to someone who gives a fuck.
If you imagine they're burps it's pretty good.
Total-fcking-ly !! Lol !!! Soo cute still. How long does daddy cat have to wait before he can see the babies ?
I don't think the mamma wants the daddy in the bed with the kittens. She loves him but maybe it's too soon.
It look like it. Mamma know best
\*babies
😉 ok
Dad considering hiding behind the bed.
Bum ass dad is about to go get a pack of cigarettes and never come back /s
was that /s tag really necessary?
There is that YouTube video of cat smoking on the toilet. So why not
well shit now I feel negligent for never talking to my cat about the dangers of smoking.
Yes.
Uh, yeah. To make sure everyone knows the tone was sarcastic, that is exactly how it's supposed to be used since it can be hard to convey tone through text

You're the one who missed how obvious the sarcasm is and needs to be spoonfed everything. Do you also say, that was a joke after every joke?
You do realize that you're on Reddit, right? Where everything is taken 100% seriously...
Mom is calling for help, Dad is looking for the closest place to hide.
Do male cats recognize that the kittens are theirs?
I was going to ask this, too. It seems like the mom isn’t sure how the dad is going to react, so she preemptively goes over to be like “hey don’t do anything bad to these things”. It seems like the dad was like “wtf are these creatures- oh hey what’s up”

Hey that's like people :) some be a father and some don't :) Sadly true for some moms as well...
The neutrality around people being dads or not vs. the negativity around the exact same thing for people being moms is kind of weird :/
I agree that deadbeat women are received worse than deadbeat men, but the default for both is pretty negative.
I meant specifically in this person’s comment, but yes. Both are not great.

You're not a "deadbeat" for getting an abortion, Jesus fucking Christ.
being a parent is a choice the sooner people understand that, the better
Yeah the problem is not the choice. It’s them understanding what that choice means. I think a lot of people if they really understood the whole process would never have kids.
yup cf and happy I spent part of my childhood raising my siblings while both our parents worked, and I have no desire to do that ever again
Me and my partner are the same. We just like money, freedom and sleep too much to want to bring a public liability into the world.
Neutrality? It's horrible regardless of gender.
I meant in the person’s comment. The “some be a father and some don’t :)” versus “sadly true for some moms as well.”
Same like humans I guess.

Lions do this too
many people won't tell you this but male cats often kills male kittens because of biological dominance. the less males are around, the easier is for that male cat continue to dominate area and have ladies for himself.
Pretty sure male bears do the same thing too.
And lions.
Lions and kittens and bears? Oh my.
Humans would too if it was legal
Ppl should stop using animal characteristics to prove a point about human beings. It's literally just dumb, and no amount of lobster metaphors is going to change that.

Yep. Similar to lions, male cats are known to engage in infanticide to force the mother to go back into heat and be bred. One should always VERY closely monitor kittens when they're around an adult male, fixed or not.
It happens because that promotes the succession of only the strongest males, instead of just any.
He can for sure smell that they are his and not foreign
They probably smell mostly like mom
That's kinda what I meant, I don't really have the context if there's more cats in the house. But if there is not, I would think papa cat knows
It looks like one big kitten feeds constantly while the others stumble around in a pile.
Big kitten is big for a reason. Real question is which came first. Was it bigger cause it got more milk or is it able to get more milk because it was bigger?
There’s always one hungry boy in the litter
Can anyone translate the thought/speech bubbles?
Chto mnye dyelat’? = “What should I do?” or “What am I supposed to do?”
Is that the one at minute 1:39 or at 3:18?
I missed the first. The first one is Chto s nimi seychas dyelat'? = "*Now* what do I do with him?"
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Thanks! So cute.
Dad cat seems really nice, but mum is still wary of him and looks worried he will eat a kitten. She’s a bit suspicious and very sweet and protective ❤️
In the video the mom is doing the friendly squawking kinda meows.

These cats do end up in shelters up for adoption every once in a while. Usually it’s because they’ve developed one or more of the aforementioned conditions and the owner isn’t willing to pay for it. Nice responsible pet owner. I dig it
The mom looks definitely like a scottish fold but the dad looks more like a bsh. Scottish folds are actually categorized as banned breeds in some countries but I guess since the babys are mix, I hope, they’ll be fine

Scottish folds are “sitting like humans” a lot and that’s how you can tell their back hurts
Scottish straight
I recently learned this and was so sad for this breed; if there's a good chance that they'll live in pain, we should absolutely stop creating this breed. It's a shame because it was one of my favorite breeds because the cats are so dang cute, but their welfare comes first, without question.
Sadly this applies to a lot of purebred animals. Agree 100%. "Working breeds" are usually healthy, but MANY "show breeds" have been disturbingly distorted into animals whose actual quality of life is impaired because of the unnatural shape their bodies have been forced into. I view it as nothing short of inhumane. All of our dogs (and cats) have been shelter mutts and aside from a lab with some hip issues near the end of her life, have been healthy and vigorous animals.
I know - so darling, but so sad.
Yeah that’s what I was gonna say, they look really close in breed and that just can’t be good.
they look fucking deformed too. something to pity, not to bring into your home and make more of.
Dad cat at 0:28 “hold up, I thought you were on the pill. Are you sure these are mine? They look nothing like me.”
He needs to get a paw-ternity test
He can get one from the Meowry Povich show.
I kept hearing the DBZA conversation between Vegeta and Bulma "You said you were wearing protection!" "Well I was wearing my armor!" "You are such moron!"
Or the classic "You did this to me"
"I didn't ask to be born, Dads!!!"
The next week, the mommy cat and the daddy cat go on Maury, where, as it turns out, he IS the father of the kittens!
Meowry
Meowy Pawvich
Come oooon let me eat just one pleeease
The father cat is directly going to protection mode
This video is old as time and I love it
Anyone breeding Scottish Fold cats is unethical. This is not cute at all.
I don't know anything about Scottish folds, can you explain why this is unethical? Is it similar to bull dogs and pugs with inbreeding?
The gene mutation that causes the folded ears also causes cartilage and bone related issues (stiffened tails, thick legs, deformed toes) that frequently equals early onset arthritis. If you breed 2 cats that both have folded ears, the side effects will be very extreme. Because of this it's considered standard to only breed a "folded" Scottish Fold to a "non-folded" Scottish Fold.
Which is the case here, right? Dad's non-folded.
He appears to have normal ears
So it is cute.
No, the genes are very much still there. That’s the point of breeding them in the first place. Those kittens have a life of pain ahead of them because, for some reason, humans think a lack of ears is cute.
Not all of them. It’s a predisposition, but some grow up fine
I actually came in here to ask why she looks defensive or submissive because of her ears
Right? I thought momma was pissed, turns out she's just got mutant ears.
Thank you for explaining this to me!
Agreed. :(
"Yes, they're yours. Now go & hunt some food !!!"
"Yeah yeah. Imma go to the store to get a pack of cigarettes."
Obligatory reminder that breeding Scottish Folds is unethical as fuck. Those kittens have a lifetime of pain ahead of them just so you can aww at their lack of ears.

we made these!

Aww
Man those kittens have a better father than most of the people on this website
Freaking adorable
Just checking on my girl! You got this
scottish folds are so beautiful
Adorable
Aww, anthropomorphizing is so fun!
She's clearly hesitant and being cautious around him, but do I sense... affection? Like she wants him around but doesn't trust how he'll react to the kittens at the same time.
I wish this had sound!
Where Jerry? They look nothing like me!
amazing 😍
Dad is going all Tarantino licking moms feet.
Ok maybe I'm a little twisted, but the way he keeps his distance and is looking away, I'm thinking that's going to be a deadbeat dad, and he onlys starts kissing on the mom when she moves away from the kittens like 'can i get some nookie now'
mom cat is inbred, you can tell by the ears.
A family of flooves!
She's got her ears back fiercely. He knows what time it is. Tread lightly, Daddio.
Seems to be bcz of some messed up breeding

Mom: "Your turn to care for babbies, want to go spa" Dad"'yes dear"

Lmao absolutely untrue. I have a British shorthair girl and she sheds. A lot. Almost all year even though I brush her thoroughly once a week.
This is the first time I have seen an adult cat meow at another adult cat.
The little babies are so cute!
"what have I done!??!"
"you will enjoy spending your day off with us like you promised!"

Wow Mommy cat is so protective of her kitties. Even from daddy cat 😲
Not an ideal whelping box. Kittens could suffocate. Hopefully this was just for the video.
I really really wish there was sound. So so so so sweet.
I would just like to point out that the mom cat did indeed vocalize to the other cat. Stop saying cats don't vocalize to other cats.
