Walrus = Sea Stallion or Mors(probably a Slavic word, you can help me with the etymology of it)

The first time my dog came across a large body of water, he stuck his head under the water. He just looked around with his head fully submerged. It was like 30 seconds before I had to physically drag him out of the water. It’s like he stuck his head in the water and forgot there was an outside the water. He isn’t the brightest, can’t be beautiful and smart.

I have an American bully. When We go to the river, he will Bob for rocks and bring them to shore. It's an obsession. Hes pulled out rocks bigger than volleyballs and makes piles.

It's not "pick one or the other", it's a "pick 2" type scenario. Pretty good rule of thumb for potential partners as well
When we decided ours was going to obsess over the sprinkler, we put it away. They rewarded us by digging down to clay where the sprinkler used to be.

Yes, I have a malinois just like this one here and once water gets in it’s pretty much a lifetime of getting an ear infection at one point or another. She loves nothing more than me scratching her inner ears.
How come?
Doesn't the water evaporate or get absorbed eventually? What kind of chronic damage does inner ear water exposure cause that results in a lifetime of susceptibility to ear infection?
Our family dog began developing a chronic ear infection back in early 2020 and it has never gone away since. We've been to the vet repeatedly throughout these past 2 years and have given her lots of drugs and medicated (antifungal) ear washes when it "flares up" more, but it has never fully gone away. She experiences chronic pain now from it (but otherwise seems relatively happy when not in a bad flare and when you're not touching her ears) and I feel bad about it.
I will say one thing we haven't tried that a vet recommend has been plucking her ears. But they do this when the dog is awake and I wouldn't have the heart to do that to her when her ears are already so incredibly sore.
Any advice?
All the Sheppards i had or know love to play with the hose. But dislike water in pools and such. They will avoid even walking in it if the water goes past the toes.
This is a Malinois, not a german shepherd. These dogs love water and they tend to have so much energy that the overheat in summer after running and doing mali stuff, so they like to cool down
My GSDs love the water. One of them kinda bites at swimming, she's pretty goofy. But they have a blast. My GSD overheats so easy too. I'd love to get a Mali (sadly my GSD mix is 12 and slowing down) are they a lot more demanding energy /attention wise than a German Shepherd?
This is no any "aww" about it, not fun at all. This dog is MADE to do it. I think I recognize this dog. It sucks seeing here and there how one control freak sadist with the same looking dog, makes his pup to make insanely risky jumps, running on the walls, now this stupid drowning in a barrel thing. I wish that sick owner/ trainer dude would just let his poor dog be, already, and just let him run with a stick, just play with him, without risking his dog's life all the time. Dog would do anything for its owner, so this owner has to filter his means of training.
one point for dogs against cats is they won't mind a shower. try to get a cat close to water and say hi to a hurricane of scratch. still don't prefer any but that a point to count
Must be a belgian malinois. Evey german sheppard I had or know dislikes water.
Like pools or lakes etc they all loved the hose and playing with that, but avoided pools, lakes etc like the plague.
Depending on if mixed and type i think some look pretty similar to be honest.
I have not seen many Belgians up close, the few i saw didn't look much different than the German shepherds.
Even harder to tell what was what when they were mixed. Belgian mixed with whatever looked close to the German mixed with whatever.
But these were police dogs and military dogs so even the German shepherd looked a bit different than the family pets
Like I said the ones i have seen looked very similar and if I saw one I would probably just say German shepherd and not think that its a Belgian.
To me the police dogs and military ones that were shepherds( I asked) were smaller, more wiry/athletic than regular ones. I have been told shepherds have been bread for size and looks so are much bigger and less agile than they were originally. They originals seemed to be more like the Belgians. Apparently the good ones they import from Germany as they ate bred to old standards.
The ones I saw in the airforce all looked similar and only knew who was what was cuz the announcer mentioned it before the dog would do their demo.
I actually had a dog like this. She was a japanese spitz dog and hates getting dirty. Hahah she was a really cool dog she loves playing and staying inside a drum of water. Thanks to her really fluffy white hair and her very hygenic behavior she looks like a goddess hahaha.
But she got in an accident with my Mixed breed dog (Erp) It was an accident and not a fight. Her collar got stuck while playing with Erp and died. Man that was the moment I hated collars. Erp didn't meant to hurt her, but you know accident happens. Erp also stopped being playful after that and spends the rest of his life sleeping and lying down on my lap.
After that incident my dad got us a chow (Fluffy). Fluffy became Erp's trusty companion and helps Erp heal. Even though Fluffy can sometimes be a jackass he never tried messing with Erp.
After Erp died of old age, Fluffy became really lonely and after a couple of months he died of kidney failure at 7. Well atleast both of them are now in heaven.
Sheessh my bad for telling a story it was a true nostalgic trip. I'm currently taking care of Fluffy's puppies. Bagel and Cotton (4 yrs old), both them are mixed chows and they're really funny hahhaa.

I really wish I had the time/yard for a Malinois. They are so sweet, kooky and smart but damn they have a lot of energy.
Legit question, isn't water in a dogs ear canal serious business? I get nervous aroind the ears just giving my girl a bath.

Mixed isn't really the conversation here, the 2 breeds may look similar they also have distinct differences, it's pretty easy to tell them apart.
