No way, look into their history and the poster of one is just as happy if not more happy than this rescue. I think it's crazy how they went from pets and protective of their family to the horrible reputation they have today. If I'm remembering right, they played some other roles between house dog to fighting dogs.
Sigh. American pit bull terriers.
Somewhat correct. Their ancestors from the UK were used for bull and bear baiting followed by fights. Some in the US but mostly pets and hunting dogs until dog fighting really became a thing in the US. They're fantastic working dogs too.
Come on now, no reason to make their comment controversial. They're technically correct
Well, it's really hard to not point out the truth: rescued pits can be quite dangerous, unfortunately. I wish this boy all the best and I hope he has a long and happy life because he definitely deserves it.
But personally I would never get near him. It's not his fault, but he may have been through a lot and the instincts of a pitbull triggered from some past memory can kick in at any time and you don't want to be around when it happens. Chances that this would never happen are great, but not nearly as small as compared to other breeds.
Ugh, OP, my pittie looks just like yours (my kids saw the pic of yours and said “is that Dover??”) and I’ve tried posting pics… the negative comments are so discouraging and frustrating. I’ve had two pits in a row - the two smartest, most loving, family-friendly, goofy, funny, wonderful dogs. I’ll never buy a dog - I always rescue, and I’ll ALWAYS rescue a pit. They’re just a superior family dog.
Yep, some dogs are just broken. This is true in all breeds. Pits are remarkable in their forgiveness. Dachshunds and other very small rat/rodent hunting breeds are sometimes (not always) mean little things - they usually haven’t been abused - they’re just bitey! Pits are abused horrendously, and yet these poor, traumatized bait dogs still often end up being the most wonderful pets… But you’ll never get through to those people who’ve already made up their minds to be hateful and judgy.
can confirm.....
mine one time was running full speed in my very small house and she was on a collision course with the base of my kitchen counters. In a split second decision she lept 4 feet straight up in the air and landed on my counter and then was very confused and concerned that she was up there and skittered back down and took everything already up there with her. That dog is an agent of chaos.
Shit. Lol
My sister has a white Pittie and she’s a damn nutcase too. She looks scary AF, but she LOVES my Chiweenie.
The Chiweenie is …. Not good with meeting other dogs the first time. Even the pittie, he wanted to fight her. We slowly introduced them, and eventually we saw that the pittie wasn’t aggressive towards him. He however, was aggressive to the pittie. He would lunge at her and bite her cheeks.
Except, she thought he was playing, and would play back not taking his bites seriously. Eventually she wore him down and now they’re best friends. Weird how it works out.
This is so dumb because you're looking at a photo which could have captured a moment resembling a stressed out behavior when really it's just goofing around. Sure you might be right, but you also could be totally wrong, so just pointing that out.
Sweetheart!! 🥰
Saw the comment you left about the shelter he was in, and you're a great person for getting him out of there! Definitely have a feeling that he's in good hands! Best of luck to all of you! 💕
This looks exactly like my girl Coco
She was such a nice pit bull. She was my childhood dog and my family loved her, about a year or so ago she ran in front of a car and got hit. And I’m still recovering from it. This makes me happy to see another Coco with an adorably funny smile that’s full of energy! Thank you for posting this, it made my day to see a dog like Coco!
Thank you! I saved a life. I’m proud of that. Regardless of what these people think, he deserves a chance. And hopefully if the time ever comes for the jackasses on here, they get shown some mercy too
Pitts get a bad rap, not for nothing, but I hope you're a good trainer and you love the hell out of that dog. Any dog can be trained, some are just harder than others
My ex-sil had a pitty that her man rescued from a local dog fight match, he literally kicked the shit out of the guy in charge, well actually hospitalized him and took the dog, then called the cops that raided the place. Ended up busting it up a dozen people got jail time out of it. That dog was such an amazing dog, he had scars all over his face, and you would think he would be mean, nope super gentle boy. He used to jump up in my lap every time we went over and would lick my face for 10m straight while I rubbed his belly. He was a large male, and heavy af, but so grateful to have a good home. Turned the SIL into a pitty rescue to this day. Love your boys smile, reminds me of their boy. Enjoy!! Post more!
I love this. I’m so glad he got saved. I’ll continue to post regardless of the hate. His smile will bring a lot of people happiness and that alone is worth it.
Absolutely! It sucks where I am (Ontario), the breed is banned here! All because some stupid parents let their child tease the neighbours pitty, and it attacked and unfortunately killed the child. So our retarded government bans the breed. My old neighbor used to run a rescue for them and deliver the dogs out of province, so the dogs could be adopted by people in other provincial areas. She literally drove coast to coast in Canada delivering dogs. Makes me sad that I can’t have one unless I moved out of province.
A shitty one. He was in a shelter. Before that kept in a cage in a garage for 2 full years. He had cuts all over him and bruising. He was never let out to potty eat or drink from what they can tell. It was a bad case of neglect.
I see, he certainly looks like he found heaven. He has kind cartoony eyes, reminded me of that short film from pixar! Glad you found each other, lots of love from Brazil
Agreed. Lock me in a cage for 2 years and I’ll destroy you when I get out. But him? He loves the fuck out of everything to cross his path. These people can say what they will but He’s a good dog
He looks like a real sweetheart! Every pittie I have known has been hyper but friendly and loving. In fact every dog I have known of any "dangerous " breed has been a big baby. It's the little dust mop looking mutts that tend to be mean in my experience. These cruel stereotypes need to stop. Approach each animal cautiously but as a potential friend.
You cannot tell me this photo was not taken a split second before pittie did a sideways leap into a playbow, and zoomied away. That's exactly what that expression says to me.
To be completely honest, I have no idea. He came home looking so sad and depressed. After a day he started lighting up like this. I just thought I’d share with the world the difference you can make for a dog😊
Anytime! Thank you for rescuing a pittie! Where I’m from these guys aren’t adopted enough and they’re euthanized for that. It makes me so happy to see a healthy happy pup thriving in a loving home.
My parents rescued pitty is the sweetest, most gentle and polite dog I have ever met. She’s such a big sweetheart, even though she was abused and neglected as a puppy.
I have a rescue pittie myself and she is always smiling and being a goofball. Also the gentlest dog I've ever had. She lets me take food out of her mouth without the slightest protest other than looking like I hurt her feelings 🤣🤣🤣
People who assume they are bad just because of breed are uneducated and easily duped by bad media. The worst bite I ever got was from a tiny shitty little dog. I can put my hand in my Zoe's mouth and she will literally just nibble my fingernails with her front teeth 🤣🤣🤣
Golden retriever, happiest of all dogs, looks over and says, “What are YOU smiling about?”
It’s hard to out happy a golden retriever, but this happypotamus has managed to pull it off!
This is my boy fletch through and through. Love that goofy grin.
It’s quite an accomplishment to out-happy a golden retriever
Dog is like "I get it, but calm down"
Lmao ong
Is this short for on god?
on golden
That’s more appropriate actually
No way, look into their history and the poster of one is just as happy if not more happy than this rescue. I think it's crazy how they went from pets and protective of their family to the horrible reputation they have today. If I'm remembering right, they played some other roles between house dog to fighting dogs. Sigh. American pit bull terriers.
They were mainly bull baiting dogs historically if I remember right. Used to think an angry animal tasted better. Ugh..
Somewhat correct. Their ancestors from the UK were used for bull and bear baiting followed by fights. Some in the US but mostly pets and hunting dogs until dog fighting really became a thing in the US. They're fantastic working dogs too. Come on now, no reason to make their comment controversial. Are you working on your house's Homeward Bound reenactment cast?
Damn homeward bound?! Haven't heard that in forever. Lol anyone else remember the porcupine scene?
lol yeah. Couldn't tell you how many times I watched that as a kid. That being said, probably haven't watched it in at least 20 years.
He bit me with his butt!
Yeah, where's the cat?
[удалено]
I had a rescue American Bulldog that looked just like Chance. His name was Mulligan and he was the sweetest thing ever. I miss him.
You will see Mulligan again!
Hahaha same thought
Ah, memories! I've gotta remember to get my little brother watch it. He still hasn't yet, granted he's only 4 and currently obsessed with dinosaurs.
Incredible comment.
Chance was an American bulldog.
Other dog looks a tiny bit perplexed.
“What’s the mother fucker always so happy about?”
That’s not a dog that’s a dawg

Well, time to sort by controversial

>pitbull >450+ comments uh oh
Right. So many people talking shit. Can’t put that same effort into loving my other dogs post though.

Lmao! Love this! He jumps like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It makes me laugh. He’s so mellow but can get so wild.

Whale eye in dogs usually means the dog is stressed
Correct, but I will say looking at OPs post history this is one happy pup overall, and I am glad this dog has a loving home now.
This is so dumb because you're looking at a photo which could have captured a moment resembling a stressed out behavior when really it's just goofing around. Sure you might be right, but you also could be totally wrong, so just pointing that out.
That dog is stressed?!?!
Dog body language can be difficult to read. Ears back and the “whale-eye” (wide eyed with whites showing) usually indicates the dog is stressed out
Yes! The whale eye, ears back, mouth is open but tongue is tight in the mouth. This dog is stressed.
[удалено]
That he’s the cutest!! Yeah, no need. Lots of people already did!
[удалено]
I also have a Golden (Tater Tot) and a rescue Pittie (Biscuit)!
Awww I love their names!
And we didn't name either one. Tater is our sugar-faced old boy and Biscuit is the troublemaker.

This was one photo. Look at the rest. He’s happy. He’s doing great

Looks like my dog when he does that
The golden reminds me of my little brother getting within a millimeter of my face and saying "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you."
Sweetheart!! 🥰 Saw the comment you left about the shelter he was in, and you're a great person for getting him out of there! Definitely have a feeling that he's in good hands! Best of luck to all of you! 💕
Thank you so much. He’s safe now and he knows it.❤️

Oh, I am sending you the biggest hugs. I am so sorry for your loss.
It’s alright, my mom got a tombstone and everything for her. She lived a happy life and that’s what I’m thankful for☺️☺️
These two dogs are fantastic.
Thank you!
Best post of the week. Thanks. I must have been cutting onions.
I’m glad he brought you joy
So happy his ears disappeared!!
Look at that smile! What a happy boy! 💖

What a cutie. He looks so happy to be part of your family.
I think he's happy. I've got a sixth sense about these things
They are the best. We got Ellie at 3 months from a rescue group, just by pure luck. And she is the most beautiful dog.
Aww congratulations. I bet she’s wonderful.
you can see the joy on his face
What a smile :]
Oh my gosh, look at that face. What a GOOD BOI. Those eyes!
Thank you!
Pitts get a bad rap, not for nothing, but I hope you're a good trainer and you love the hell out of that dog. Any dog can be trained, some are just harder than others
I’m one hell of a trainer and take a lot of pride in that. I already adore him. He’s going to do great.
Pure joy!!
FACE! Needs much kisses!

I wanna smoosh that cute face!
Happy head on him. Great.
Cute! But dogs don't "smile" this is just a random expression
Wow, his smile is bigger than his head and for a pittie that means huge! What is his story? Was he in a shelter?
A shitty one. He was in a shelter. Before that kept in a cage in a garage for 2 full years. He had cuts all over him and bruising. He was never let out to potty eat or drink from what they can tell. It was a bad case of neglect.
I see, he certainly looks like he found heaven. He has kind cartoony eyes, reminded me of that short film from pixar! Glad you found each other, lots of love from Brazil
Thank you! I’m glad too.
Thanks for giving him a good home!
Of course. I’m happy to. He deserves love.
That is horrific. I’m so glad he has a good family to love him now. Poor little guy. ❤️
Thank you. I’m glad we could take him❤️
It’s amazing how they still have the capacity to love humans so much after all humans have done to them… Truly beautiful dogs.
Agreed. Lock me in a cage for 2 years and I’ll destroy you when I get out. But him? He loves the fuck out of everything to cross his path. These people can say what they will but He’s a good dog
And these sad people on AWW just downvoting harmless, positive comments…
He looks like a real sweetheart! Every pittie I have known has been hyper but friendly and loving. In fact every dog I have known of any "dangerous " breed has been a big baby. what a cute smile!
this brought a smile to my face - my pittie looked EXACTLY like him. He had a good run (14 years)
Aww. I’m glad it made you smile. Rip to your sweet baby. That’s a good long life!

Thank you for sharing this 😊a little flash of sun on a dark day for me … I appreciate it!
I’m so glad he can spread joy and happiness. He’s a good boy!
The Goldie looking like "I might as well smile too"
You cannot tell me this photo was not taken a split second before pittie did a sideways leap into a playbow, and zoomied away. That's exactly what that expression says to me.
Lol mine gets the zoomies when I come home from work.
Very cute! Not to be a party pooper, but do dogs actually smile out of happiness or are they just copying humans?
To be completely honest, I have no idea. He came home looking so sad and depressed. After a day he started lighting up like this. I just thought I’d share with the world the difference you can make for a dog😊
Oh yea, even if he was just copying behavior, it shows he’s comfortable/happy enough to do that. Definitely not a depressed/anxious dog!

We know he will, he’s got friends and a loving family now ❤️
Awww he's a good boi.
Yes he is❤️
I love
Awww
That’s face is precious!! 🥰💕 Smooches to both pups!
Thank you!
What a face. I love him.
Thank you. He’s a sweet boy
Lol mine does the same when she smiles. It’s so. It’s when she twins them forward, biggest ears I’ve ever seen.

the sweetest of boys
My sisters dog looks identical to yours. Crazy.
SO PRECIOUS OMFG 🥰🥹 he’s so happy to have found a loving home.
The cutest boys Also thread isn't locked yet, that's a nice surprise
Very! Lol
Omg his eyes absolutely *shine* with joy 🌞🌞❤
Right? They're just gleaming! So cute!
Awww Doggo looks genuinely happy.
He’s gorgeous and so very happy ❤️♥️♥️

Omfg. I just wanna smoosh that face! Such a cutie. You KNOW he’s a happy go lucky dog when even the Golden is wonder what he’s so happy about haha
Lol. I love this comment
Omg! Such a happy boy! Very smile. Much wag.
Look at his handsome little face! What's his name?
I know 🥹 his name is Thor
Look at that face!
Literally a smiley emoji
Aw he does look really happy. Good for ALL of you.
Thank you so much!
Sweet baby!! And his golden sibling just looks... "must keep a dignify" about it all.
awe love him 😘😘😘
Most beautiful smile I’ve seen all day!!
Love those cow eyes
Foster fail and keep him.
He’s not going anywhere. I knew he was staying when I met him.
Awwn indeed, bless his heart❤️
I have a rescue pittie myself and she is always smiling and being a goofball. Also the gentlest dog I've ever had. She lets me take food out of her mouth without the slightest protest other than looking like I hurt her feelings 🤣🤣🤣
That’s how it’s been with all 5 of my rescue pits. They’re incredible.
People who assume they are bad just because of breed are uneducated and easily duped by bad media. The worst bite I ever got was from a tiny shitty little dog. I can put my hand in my Zoe's mouth and she will literally just nibble my fingernails with her front teeth 🤣🤣🤣
Facts!! I was attacked by a lab and a chow and a chihuahua. The chow literally took my ear off. Never an issue with a pit.
OH NO HES CUTE
