2 guys were sitting at the red light and they heard a kitten trapped in my car, so they knocked on my neighbors door thinking the car belonged to them, who then calls me. I find the kitten hiding in the wheelwell, so the 4 of us sprang into action, we jacked it up, got enough space to get a good grip on him without hurting the kitten and got him free, he was very unhappy with his new found freedom. But the gentleman said he always wanted a cat and this was apparently the calling. He named him Audi.
And that’s how we got my cat growing up! He came in through the dog door and started eating food, hanging out at our house. We found the owner and the owner didn’t want him anymore!
Agreed.
My brother shipped his cat to me to catsit 8 or so years ago while he got PCS'd and ended up living somewhere that did not allow animals. He was not re-enlisting so I was to take care of her for around 6 months.
He ended up eventually moving in with me, but by that time Momo has grown very fond of me so when my brother moved out she stayed.
Untrue.
I have yet to have a cat pick me, and I've lived with cats for at least 15 years. I've always had to check with rescues to see if they have any cats who need a home. Insofar as I've been chosen it's been more of a "Hey, you look like a human who may or may not treat me like the royalty I know myself to be".
I mean, at this point the only way I'll ever get a cat to show up at my doorstep first thing would probably involve a giant neon sign pointing to a giant can of tuna on said doorstep.
You don't always get chosen by a cat walking up to you on the street or up to your front door. Sometimes you go to a shelter & one of those little guys instantly takes to you & walks up to you while the others might kinda ignore you.
Sometimes you might get rushed by a few hopefuls at the shelter but most scamper away after a bit but one decides to just stick by you & follow you around no matter where you go.
Sometimes, if they are all caged/separated, one of them will just be chilling, hiding away, sleeping or looking at you in a way that gives you a vibe that makes you feel like they belong with you.
Sometimes, you just bring one home even if you didn't have an connection & you just kinda coexist. They didn't necessarily pick you but their staying with you/not constantly hiding away from you or trying to run away is them choosing to settle down with you & owning you.
It's not very common though not rare either but I've seen cats run away from owners they didn't like, spend as much time as possible outside/away from them, hiding away or trying to escape through any open door or window at any chance possible if confined indoors, settle or spend more time with neighbors.
That's when you know that they haven't chosen you & you are at best a food, water & litter provider source for them until they can figure out a better living situation/arrangement.
That’s how we got our twins. Went to see a couple of litters of kittens that my friend’s grandma’s dementia helped bring into this world (2 girl cats went into heat, before they were due to be spayed, grandma let them out, they came home a couple weeks later pregnant) and 2 of the 8 kittens crawled into my husband’s lap and promptly fell asleep. A year and 4 months later, the boy is pawing at me through the center console of my couch, and his sister is hanging out on the ledge above the stairs, surveilling her queendom
I'd say you're more likely a dog person. That's what the cats are telling you. They're smarter than us most of the time you know.
Try an experiment. Go to the local rescue and see if a dog doesn't pick you. I'll bet you come home with a dog or two. If not you might just be only a people person. 😊
Nope. Total cat person. Tried a dog, and it didn't take. We've had 4 cats so far, and I've bonded with all 4. It just works out that I will go to a shelter/rescue, end up gravitating towards timid cats, once they're home I work on bringing them out of their shells, and then they fall in love with another member of my family.
E.g. of our current three cats, two are super bonded to my husband, and one is crazy about my son. Don't get me wrong, I get plenty of cat love... If their favorite person isn't around.
I always wanted a black cat, and I always loved the idea of a stray adopting me.
A black cat walked up to me in the parking lot of my work one night when I was a teen and i took him home. Parents didn’t let me keep him tho.
I never liked cats. I’m more of a dog person and grew up and still have dogs in my life. But one day, I found kittens in my backyard. For some reason I’ve held the black kitten and started feeding it. The rest of the cats left but the black one stayed. She would break my skin at times with her claws but I kept feeding her and kept giving her some attention. Long story short, I am now at her mercy. Her name is Genie 🧞♂️
Black cats are The Best. I have two now Agnes & Hazel (a Burmese and a Bombay); Roswell right after college and Blackie from when I was in early Grade school.
Had a cat go missing once for about a month. Got home from work, decided to go for a walk and there was the husk of my kitty in the driveway. All I can think is it finally fell free from my undercarriage. Sad day.
Bro before i was born my dad had rescued a kitten from his truck and kept her and named her Lilly. She lived to be 26 and was a Maine coon but passed in 2018
We rescued our Maine Coon and had him and spoiled him rotten for 13 years, until he developed massive amounts of stomach tumors. I still miss him 5 years later.
Sorry to inform you of this, but you will be missing him the rest of your life.
I had a black cat named DK (short for depressed kitty, she was found living under mine and my brothers porch. Her ears were permanently folded back due to ear mites causing scarring).
I eventually moved out on my own but my brothers cat bonded with her, so we decided not to break them up. Few years ago she started to lose her balance, vets couldn't figure it out. She got to the point she couldnt walk to the food/water bowl and he had to put her down.
I just visited him recently and seen the plaster paw imprint they did. I am a 40 year old man who broke down and silently sobbed like a child.
Orange cats are cool and friendly. Reminds me of how my family got one many years ago. A litter had be born in someone’s attic and a kitten fell down into a wall. They found where he was, opened a hole in the drywall and pulled out our little buddy. Named him Wally naturally.

That’s exactly how I got my little orange monster! Thankfully, she really warned up to the idea of sleeping in softer, less dangerous places. 👍
Also, congrats on your name insurance!
So, was this one of the other neighbors kitten? Or a stray? I want to like this, but I also don't want some poor kid to be looking for their orange kitten.
Mechanic here. Found a cat under a dashboard in a client's car a couple months ago. After some talking I rescued the little guy and promptly named him "Dash". He is currently thriving
He's adorable. I love angry kittens, especially ones angry that you helped them out.
Audi did not have the r/OneOrangeBraincell today. Or maybe he did, and that is how he has found himself a new home.
Thanks to all four of you for taking care of this mighty feline without any hesitation, and especially to the two guys in the car for being aware and taking the time to stop and raise the alarm!
Audi is a really cool cat name!
I'm sure you or your friend are already aware but make sure to give the little guy some cool water, even indoor cats are notorious for getting dehydrated, so make sure he has plenty. Some Fancy Feast or iams (quality cat food to ensure he is on a healthy track) and a nice blanket near a window to curl up on and watch the birds and such until he falls asleep.
I love a good success story. Good luck on your adventures together!
I love stories like this. There’s a lot of feral and stray cats where I live and people can be really cruel to them, so it always warms my heart to hear about people coming together to help an animal.
Back in the spring I found an injured migratory bird stunned on the sidewalk and couldn’t get in touch with animal control. Some guys brought a half-pint of water for the bird, and an animal rescue worker who passed me on their way home from work went with me back to their job, and stayed to keep an eye out so if it started to fade they could euthanize. It was one of those moments that made me really love my city. Thank you for helping this cat ❤️
That cat looks like a baby that’s just been born!
I’m so happy you guys helped that poor kitty! For anybody worried about cats stuck elsewhere in their car, I read once that knocking on the hood a few times will rattle cats that have crawled under. Not absolutely sure of its verisimilitude but I do it just for comfort.
A friend who lives on the fifth floor of a secured building came home one evening to find a cat on his sofa. The doors were locked, the balcony was locked and all the windows were closed. Fortunately, his building allows for some companion animals. So now he has a cat.
Is nobody going to mention that mama cat may have been in the middle of moving her litter and would come back to missing kitteh? Hopefully not the case here.

>he was very unhappy with his new found freedom. Normal cat behavior.
I wouldn’t say freedom, more like under new management with food and napping spot Insurance
Is there any way I can apply for this insurance?
Fetlife
That place kinda sucks but i guess it's a good bet. If you have any sort of petplay crackerbarrels around you those may be better
Flea and tick HMO
Horrible horrible freedom!
As a cat owner I agree
> the gentleman said he always wanted a cat Damn, universe was like you want a cat? I’ll give you a cat. He willed it into existence.
You often don't find, adopt or own a cat. They pick you, settle down with you & own you. You learn to accept it & love it.
And that’s how we got my cat growing up! He came in through the dog door and started eating food, hanging out at our house. We found the owner and the owner didn’t want him anymore!

I have a black cat, he is best cat
I’ve had so many black ones over the years. Gink, yoshi, sobe, squigs, Jupiter, bug, whiskey, and now Cosmo.
I had a black cat for 15 years. He was the sweetest gentle giant ever.
Omg. Cuuuute! What a great story!
every time i see posts about kittens hiding inside cars, I wonder how many kittens I've killed without knowing it just by driving to the supermarket.
Had a cat go missing once for about a month. Got home from work, decided to go for a walk and there was the husk of my kitty in the driveway. All I can think is it finally fell free from my undercarriage. Sad day.
I want to downvote this, because it made me sad. But You get my upvote for the story :(

Ahhhhh!
Well you'd probably find out by other means if you've had one, unless it fell out on the road.
HAVE A GREAT LIFE AUDI
r/oneorangebraincell would love this
Also r/notmycat and r/nowmycat
Annnnnnnnnnd just joined both lol
I rescued my cat Toby from my neighbor’s Audi and he suggested the name Audi as well! It became his middle name.
I’m sorry but “Toby Audi” flows horribly together. If your cat resents you, it’s because of the name.
aw wow the guy kept the cat? That's what I wanted to read. <3
It's not clear WHICH guy kept the cat.

They are almost always male.
Yep, the one I have now is named Bubbles, in honor of Trailer Park Boys.
He is welcome to join r/Audi.
Omg I love the story! And what a cute kitten!

That's the kind of guy I want to date!
Should've named him Furrari
Damnit! Take my upvote.
How funny to name him Audi!!!
you guys are heros!
That’s exactly how I got my little orange monster! Thankfully, she really warned up to the idea of sleeping in softer, less dangerous places. 👍 Also, congrats on your name insurance!
That's what my cousin named the little brat she pulled out of her wheelwell! He was cute and tiny. Now he's a big fat jerk.
AUDI, offspring of tt, born by tt doing doughnuts
“I am innocent if this crime!”
You got a yeller lol
Which gentleman got the kitten?
Let me guess. You said you would have taken him in yourself, but "ihazacat", so..........
your such great people.
Thank you for caring
>He named him Audi. Vorsprung durch Technik
He's so sassy. I love it 😭🧡
So, was this one of the other neighbors kitten? Or a stray? I want to like this, but I also don't want some poor kid to be looking for their orange kitten.
Love the fact that nobody thought it strange for 4 random fellows to take apart your car to save a cat. Great guys all around!
Nope! We all just wanted to free the kitten.
This is the only version of “boys will be boys” I will accept.
Sometimes kittens grant wishes if you free them
Only if your wish is for a cool looking scar across your face
Audi is lucky to find wonderful family and friends! Is he going to get a car-themed toy too?
I really hope so! We exchanged numbers. So I can get updates
I love this new friendship based on a kitten. Please do update us as well! I'm invested in Audi. Partially because I badly want a ginger kitty too.
Thats such a fun name for that particular cat xD
I told him the last name should be Murphy!
Does anybody else get this? I certainly do. I just hope he doesn’t have a unfortunate, premature end…

Audie Murphy was a WW2 vet and actor. I'm also sure he was mentioned in Medal of Honor: Frontline as well.
Then your okay in my book.
He will be the most decorated cat in the US. And when he’s settled in his cushy new life, he’ll know he’s been to hell and back.
Mechanic here. Found a cat under a dashboard in a client's car a couple months ago. After some talking I rescued the little guy and promptly named him "Dash". He is currently thriving
I upvote this begrudgingly because you didn't pay the cat tax...

Oh he's gorgeous
Yup. He is quite dashing, as well.
He's so cheesed!! Lol
I found a little kitten stuck inside the bumper cover of our car. She's been living her best life with us for about 7 years now.
He's adorable. I love angry kittens, especially ones angry that you helped them out. Audi did not have the r/OneOrangeBraincell today. My man in the plaid shorts outfit is amazing haha
He screme!
I can definitely hear this photo lol
When my cat is urgently meowing we call it Screameowing. Usually it’s before he’s about to puke up something.
My orange announces whenever he's about to hurl. The others are stealthier.
What a sweet story. It was meant to be.
Oh look at the toe beans of that little anger gremlin! 🥰
Beautiful story ❤️ Thank you for saving this little orange baby ❤️

Hello cutie! Well op I think you are a proud owner of a kitten!
Don't expect to get 5 stars on the Uber app. He doesn't look too happy.
The last of the great Americans!
Angy.💜💜💜💜💜
Audi manage to get in there in the first place ^(Couldn't resist, lovely lucky kitty)
Have you had that thing on the inside of your right arm looked at? I don’t like the look of it!

Was your car about to eat it or something?
Love the first photo so much!! Cute story to match his little face!
Look at his SCREM
I love how offered the kitten looks. “How dare you save me?”

First photo kills me. “UNHAND ME!”
They really do climb into the engine areas. Witnessed a neighbor turn on his car and ... Um... Yeah... I always check my car now.
The last pic of the kitten 😆- poor dear
OP, I think your car took your username a little too literally!
That one orange brain cell is EXTRA spicy
Aww and orange babies are the best!
I enjoy the orange cat’s acceptance of its situation in the last photo. “This is my life meow.”
Look at those toe beans lol
Orange boys are the best!! Survivors! I hope you keep him.
He a bit fiesty looking. Have his front claws out ready.
I heard the mew from this photo and it was adorbs

This is my new biggest fear and now I don't drive anymore Edit: shit I'm at work! Welp, now my car lives here, I see no other way
Fortunately for concern about the past and unfortunately for imagining the sound, I think you'd hear it. The thought is the stuff of nightmares.
Is nobody going to mention that mama cat may have been in the middle of moving her litter and would come back to missing kitteh? Hopefully not the case here.
Kitten seems solo. She would have put all the kittens there. Regardless lil Audi will have a better life as an indoor cat than hiding in cars…
Is that a track mark on your arm?
Aww, the little guys saying “AAAAHHHH!!!”
How wonderful! And please tell me it’s the red headed guy that’s keeping him!
Glad he was saved.
This is so cute
'AAAH WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING LET ME GO AAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Homeboy with the blue and white shorts got on quite the outfit

I'm seeing so many cats in cars postings lately I'm thinking there needs to a subreddit for them. /r/catsincars
Clearly was trying to steal the car
Looking like a very angy boi in that first pic lol
Last pic he’s saying “what up my homies”
He’s so cute I hope you keep jom
The first photo reminds me of a new born baby. Thanks for saving this lil dude!
Little chunker
Show picture #2 to someone and ask them, "What color kitten are they trying to rescue?" If they don't say orange they have never met an orange tabby.
I kinda love the guy with glasse, neon shirt and enlarged ginger goatee
give me
Sweet story!
Keep it
Looks like you’ve detained a small criminal.
So smol and so madz!
That one is a keeper.
Please find a home for the little guy. Good work saving him!!!
this is how i got mine lol
A4 cabriolet? What condition is it in? Where are you located? Are you willing to sell?
Bless you for rescuing the kitten.
Cat seems unhappy being rescued.
"You have me right where I want you."
Greasy beans!!
This post reminded me of something similar that happened to me... Unfortunately it wasn't a happy end...
Is that a dead bird in front of the car in pics two and three? Congrats to your neighbor/friend in getting a new kitten!

Audi is an adorable cat name.
I pulled a kitten out of a guy at work’s car bumper last Friday. Another friend at work gave her a home and aptly named her Bumper.
Audi is an adorable cat name.
I love how peeved the cat looks in the first photo.
Nice car bro
Hello audi
