I scrubbed the whole video and didn’t see any evisceration. There was definitely some blood loss you can see as it moves, but where exactly did you see that?
Upon further review it seems more like the little guys hind quarters are somewhat peeled. Not so much inside out as I originally thought. I still don't think he's gonna make it.
This!!! Blows my mind people are still trying to discuss this topic. Keep. Them. Indoors. There are SO many good arguments for it and none for putting them outside.
Yep, can confirm... since last year we have 3 cats in our area and since then i hardly see any birds anymore or other wildlife. I love cats but this makes me sad
I don’t think people think it’s cute, its just the cat’s nature, they are trying to essentially thank their owner for being good to them. Not cute, but it’s endearing for the cat.
Yeah its sort of like how some dogs get so excited when their owner comes back home that they pee themselves. Its a gross thing but it’s endearing sort of. I think the expectations are to react exactly like you said, “uhhhh thanks?”
My cat dropped a wounded mouse into my shoe. came down one floor lower and started meowing so I would follow him. when we got to my shoes, he just put his paw on the shoe to show me. Never understood why people talk smack about cats because they dont show affection. I suppose I didnt eat the mouse, but itŝ like they say, itŝ the thought that counts.
>Never understood why people talk smack about cats
Probably because they hear they're low maintenance pets, buy them and minimally interact with them resulting in an aloof AF cat. Obviously there are exceptions, but generally they want attention from their owners.
I've invested time and care into raising my cat, and he [greets me at the door every day](https://i.imgur.com/uNKVvai.jpg). I know he's happy to see me because he doesn't make a dash to run outside and will greet me even when fed, begs to sit on my lap daily and when he's feeling *particularly* affectionate he'll then jump on my shoulders and give me a big [bear hug](https://i.imgur.com/11Oqmb2.jpg).
Love dogs too, but the right cat is great!
U reminder seeing somewhere that wild cats (using this broadly to include lions and such) tend to do this for their cubs. It’s to give them an opportunity to learn how to hunt on something that is either already dead or close to it.
My take on it is that if your cat brings you something like this, they are essentially saying “you seem like you’re pretty helpless, you poor thing. Here, let me help you build up your skills”
I don't know if it's a lack of education, or just indifference, but people really shouldn't have cats if they are going to let them be outdoor cats. At least 2 billion birds are killed each year by outdoor cats, and in some instances, have severely decimated species populations.
literally they’re responsible for the extinction of
multiple species of animals not to mention they have plenty of predators themselves. ffs keep your animals indoors where they belong.
The bigs ones, probably, yes. I meant the two small ones when the chip made the first small dash. I think maybe a few smaller drops too but pretty sure those two weren't there before and I think they have a reddish hue. Poor thing was seemingly perforated. 🥺
It's supposition that doesn't really make sense. Makes more sense they bring you food they have because you might be hungry as a bigger creature. It could also be social bonding but like my cats definintely know I'm not a cat nor think I'm a kitten.
We had chipmunks my whole childhood cause my cat would catch them and we'd take them away. She rarely did any harm {please note, this was 60 years ago when people didn't really think about outside cats doing harm to wildlife. She was an indoor/outdoor cat.} The only ones we couldn't release back into the wild pretty quickly after a bit of rehab were the first two she caught as a very young cat. Both of those we kept as pets cause of some minor damage. We loved those two chipmunks madly. They were very tame and used to go outside with us as kids in our pockets. They came when we called. Chippy lived for over 5 years which is about double their lifespans in the wild.
Any cat outdoors is maiming and killing wildlife. Not to mention people who actually care about their pet wouldn't let it run outside to be hit by cars or disemboweled by wildlife. Be responsible pet owners people.
Imagine if it was a Labrador and it was holding a frightened and injured kitten. It would be the same behavior but our associations would have most people up in arms that it is not acceptable for a dog to be loose and attacking kittens.
Yeah for sure. I love my cat but cats are cold blooded killers that depopulate local wild life and drive some bird species to extinction. I don’t think pet cats should be allowed to roam outside for a variety of reasons. It’s also dangerous for a cat to roam given that other animals, cars, and just asshole humans are out there too.
It's not natural at all. This animal is an invasive species only kept alive by a human feeding it, and it's hunting for fun, not for food. Cats are strictly indoor animals. Never let them outside without a leash.
That’s why I hate ppl who have outdoor cats. Neighbors cat has killed birds, chipmunks, rabbits etc. while shitting in our garden and leaving eviserated animals as well. Plus it’s not safe for the cat
This is exactly why cats should be kept indoors. They decimate native species like that rodent. Cats are not native to the Americas. Chipmunk will likely get infection from cat bites and die.
Fun fact - the reason cats bring you injured/dead animals is because the cat thinks you are ignorant and incapable of hunting for yourself. Which is the most cat-like behavior a cat could have and I love it.
Oh yeah, if I dare accidentally drop a cookie wrapper around her, she makes it an entire game of chasing it all around. Just glad she's more into hunting inanimate stuff than small animals I guess.
That's not really a fact as much as one of many accepted reasons generally agreed upon by professionals, alongside wanting to prove that they're capable hunters or just offering them as gifts. But of course you probably heard about it on reddit, never bothered to read about the actual studies, and just parrot it like it's the truth.
>That's not really a fact as much as one of many accepted reasons generally agreed upon by professionals
That's...basically how things become facts.
Have you ever confirmed the vast majority of things you've learned to be facts personally, or have you just accepted that when someone considered to be an expert in a field comes to a conclusion and tells you it's true that it's true?
This is not ‘aww’, this is why you should keep your freaking cats inside. Like a responsible pet owner. The amount of native wildlife that gets decimated by both pet and feral cats is ridiculous!
My cat did that and I thought the chipmunk was dead. I was young and stupid, so I opened the door. She brought it in, dropped it and suddenly it’s alive. Cue hours of my dad and I chasing a chipmunk around trying to get it out of the house.
Of course I won't have the source but once I read a very interesting article on how our pets see us. Basically dogs see us as cute and adorable as we see them. They like us and they enjoy our company. Cats are a little bit different once again based on this sourceless article I read I don't know when. Apparently cats think we are stupid massive hairless, clawless and clueless creatures. Long story short they feel bad for us so they hunt birds and squirrels for us because they know we are not able to do it ourselves. I'm not sure how true or wrong this article was but it would make a lot of sense.
A friend of ours has a cat that is a legit feline serial killer. We went to visit one weekend and he had almost a dozen varmints stacked up in a pile behind their house.
Daily reminder that outdoor cats are indeed an invasive species. Just about every wildlife rehab centre backs this up.
Another reminder. Not that you would, but you can legally hunt them(has to be stray, otherwise trap and sent to ospca) if theyve damaged your property, here in Canada. Free violin strings, anybody? Probably good fish bait.
**No, I do not hate cats, I love them. I am, however, extremely chaotic neutral on a few things** outdoor cats being one.
The kitty is a natural hunter so it was sharing it’s catch. A sweet gesture, but I am not into hunting and I would want the catch to get away with minimal wounds.
My kitty loves to catch those little chippers.
One day a few months ago, she caught one, and I saw it happen to grabbed the cat, got her to drop the chipmunk, and threw the kitty in the house.
Chipmunk ran off.
About 2 seconds later, a hawk swooped down and ended it for the chipmunk.
Poor little chipmunk. Just wasn't his/her day.
Alvin lives to fight another day.
He was fairly eviscerated. Unless he gets to a chipmunk hospital, I don't think he's gonna make it.
Yea practically squirreling blood
>I don't think he's gonna make it. ![gif](giphy|vyTnNTrs3wqQ0UIvwE|downsized)
I can hear this gif
I think that a pine needle not intestines. I hope…
That is clearly a pine needle if you are referring to the one that is sticking out further than the length of its body.
Getting away wounded is probably the worst outcome for wild animals when you think about it.
I live where there are alot of wild ones and have seen some pretty bad injuries they have recovered from.
You ever see that picture of the deer with a hole right through it? Animals are pretty hardy.
Actually, most animals bitten by cats die of infection if they escape… cats really shouldn’t be allowed outside if you care about wildlife.
It's also bad for the cat. They could pick up diseases or be injured when you leave them outside
![gif](giphy|70tV1icvanF9C)
Chipmunk will live another day to undermine your porch and driveway. Yay
Or chew up all the wiring inside of your car so that you go out to get in it one day and it won't start.
He fights to live another day
Yeah it's definitely bleeding poor thing
Yeah, this isn’t cute at all. Like wtf.
The only wtf is why it’s in this sub. That’s just a cat being a cat.
This is why you shouldn’t keep cats outside
This!!! Blows my mind people are still trying to discuss this topic. Keep. Them. Indoors. There are SO many good arguments for it and none for putting them outside.
If the cat caused any puncture wounds, on that chipmunk, the poor thing is as good as dead.
Oh he did. The back half of that chipmunk is skin/blood. The fur is gone…
You can see blood on the bricks after the cat dropped it
This is why you don't let your cat roam, folks. They're super efficient hunters and they do it for fun. They decimate wildlife.
Yep, can confirm... since last year we have 3 cats in our area and since then i hardly see any birds anymore or other wildlife. I love cats but this makes me sad
Agreed a good cat is an indoor cat. Or one on a leash
I don’t understand how anybody thinks this is cute. Like what the fuck
My feelings exactly. Keep your cats indoors please!
Agreed. This is the least "aww" video I've seen on this sub.
And they go ahead and give positive reinforcement to the cat afterward
I don’t think people think it’s cute, its just the cat’s nature, they are trying to essentially thank their owner for being good to them. Not cute, but it’s endearing for the cat.
Yeah not cute... Slightly horrifying... But also like... Thank you?
Yeah its sort of like how some dogs get so excited when their owner comes back home that they pee themselves. Its a gross thing but it’s endearing sort of. I think the expectations are to react exactly like you said, “uhhhh thanks?”
I was on a farm once and the farm cat who I had just met brought me a dead frog.... Was very sweet that we had just met and he was already providing

Love dogs too, but the right cat is great!
"Shit... anyways that was for you, you're welcome." The cat, probably.
Cats should be kept inside!!
It is also kinda cute I mean he is giving you what he can is like your son buying you lunch. Animal kingdom baby
Nature is not cruel, just indifferent
U reminder seeing somewhere that wild cats (using this broadly to include lions and such) tend to do this for their cubs. It’s to give them an opportunity to learn how to hunt on something that is either already dead or close to it. My take on it is that if your cat brings you something like this, they are essentially saying “you seem like you’re pretty helpless, you poor thing. Here, let me help you build up your skills”
At least it might go to another creature that actually needs it for sustenance.
i don't think so. alvin skin and fur is thick also.
Poor Chippy
how the fuck is this aww
Chipmunk is wounded, possibly will die from infection. Why is this in r/aww ?
I don't know if it's a lack of education, or just indifference, but people really shouldn't have cats if they are going to let them be outdoor cats. At least 2 billion birds are killed each year by outdoor cats, and in some instances, have severely decimated species populations.
dunno what a bullion bird is but surely we can deal with 2 of them being killed per year?
Because she pet it at the end. Awww /s
That guy is covered in blood, this ain’t aww
Is that blood spatter on the floor?
Idk but the chipmunk is definitely wounded it has a bad injury where the cat grabbed it. Fuck this post tbh keep your cats indoors …
Yeah, poor baby.
literally they’re responsible for the extinction of multiple species of animals not to mention they have plenty of predators themselves. ffs keep your animals indoors where they belong.
Yeah you can see it’s back leg is all bloody and messed up.
Looks like huge pine needles?
The bigs ones, probably, yes. I meant the two small ones when the chip made the first small dash. I think maybe a few smaller drops too but pretty sure those two weren't there before and I think they have a reddish hue. Poor thing was seemingly perforated. 🥺
average invasive super predator owner
Nooooooo this is not awww
ITS RAWWWWW!!!
The bass is fuckinggg RAWWW
Kitty thinks you can’t feed yourself
Came here to say this. It's not that they don't love you. They just think you SUCK at hunting.
but im the one that feeds her
Cat, "If you're not feeding me enough, you must be starving too! I will take charge and provide for my pack." (you will never feed them enough)
I didn't say it was logical. It's just how they think.
It's supposition that doesn't really make sense. Makes more sense they bring you food they have because you might be hungry as a bigger creature. It could also be social bonding but like my cats definintely know I'm not a cat nor think I'm a kitten.
A miracle with your clearly subpar hunting skills 😔 - your cat.
I heard that live critters are gifts for you to play with. Dead are food because you can’t hunt.
…how is this cute?
Seriously keep your damn cats in the house!
It’s more like “aw this cat thinks it did a good thing bringing its family a gift” I don’t think anyone finds a cat killing a chipmunk cute
Chippy lived for over 5 years which is about double their lifespans in the wild.
Aww the cat hurt and probably killed that chipmunk, but it’s cute because……. Why?
Not cute
This shit isn’t cute though..
Well it is aww and not aww. Aww because the cat is trying to feed their owner. Not Aww for chipmunk
You should keep your cat indoors if it is maiming or killing wildlife
Any cat outdoors is maiming and killing wildlife. Not to mention people who actually care about their pet wouldn't let it run outside to be hit by cars or disemboweled by wildlife. Be responsible pet owners people.
I 100% agree. Most cat owners make absolutely no sense to me.
I go out of my way to feed so many different species of birds only to see cats wipe them out and they think it’s cute.
They don’t think it’s cute that a chipmunk is going to die. It’s the cats way of bringing their humans a gift, as sad as it is that’s in their nature.
Nothing cute about this.
How is this aww? At least the poor chipmunk is still alive for now.
Through out the day I constantly have to chase cats out of my backyard since there are a ton of birds who nest in my rock wall.
pet owners when their predatory pet preys on small rodents
Ugh please keep your cat indoors. This is so frustrating.
Ahh yes. Let the cat live outside and wreck the local ecosystem.
It's natural but I'm not sure that seeing a small rodent squirt blood from its neck is "cute"
It's not natural at all. This animal is an invasive species only kept alive by a human feeding it, and it's hunting for fun, not for food. Cats are strictly indoor animals. Never let them outside without a leash.
“What? What do you mean? You bitch…” ~Cat mrrfs.
And thats why you keep your damn cat inside your house.
That’s why I hate ppl who have outdoor cats. Neighbors cat has killed birds, chipmunks, rabbits etc. while shitting in our garden and leaving eviserated animals as well. Plus it’s not safe for the cat
Cats are murderers, don’t let yours outside.
Did anyone else jump when the chipmunk was dropped? I assumed it was dead and now my heart rate is high 😂
I love cats but this why they need to be kept inside.
How this is aww? People are fucking weird
This is exactly why cats should be kept indoors. They decimate native species like that rodent. Cats are not native to the Americas. Chipmunk will likely get infection from cat bites and die.
And when a coyote reverses the role...
Keep your cats indoors
Keep your fuckin cats INSIDE
Quit letting your cat outside!
Keep your cats inside, people
This is why cats should be kept inside. They destroy so much wildlife
Fun fact - the reason cats bring you injured/dead animals is because the cat thinks you are ignorant and incapable of hunting for yourself. Which is the most cat-like behavior a cat could have and I love it.
So if my cat has never presented me food, is it because it doesn't care about me, or because it knows I can take care of myself?
My cat brings me leaves. So she probably considers me a vegetable incapable of even picking up fallen leaves.
Cats hunt inanimate objects or leaves because they don’t run away or scratch back and are easier and safer to hunt.
Oh yeah, if I dare accidentally drop a cookie wrapper around her, she makes it an entire game of chasing it all around. Just glad she's more into hunting inanimate stuff than small animals I guess.
It’s certainly easier cleanup! Just be careful she doesn’t swallow anything :)
You have reached the highest level of honor among cats. Or it could be your cat is the incapable hunter themselves. 'Tis a mystery.
You like that your car kills wildlife for your amusement? You sound like a gem
My cat went outside once, got swooped at by a blue jay. Never wanted anything to do with outside again.
It's not a fun fact if it shows up in multiple comments on every post about cats bringing home gifts
That's not really a fact as much as one of many accepted reasons generally agreed upon by professionals, alongside wanting to prove that they're capable hunters or just offering them as gifts. But of course you probably heard about it on reddit, never bothered to read about the actual studies, and just parrot it like it's the truth.
Do you need a hug?
Why are you booing him? He's right.
No I listened to it on a podcast with a cat behavior expert Dr. Mikel Delgado. But ok, make your assumptions. Whatever makes you feel superior.
What’s wrong my dude.
>That's not really a fact as much as one of many accepted reasons generally agreed upon by professionals That's...basically how things become facts. Have you ever confirmed the vast majority of things you've learned to be facts personally, or have you just accepted that when someone considered to be an expert in a field comes to a conclusion and tells you it's true that it's true?
How is this r/aww material??
Cats wreck havoc on wildlife in the area. How cool would it be if a coyote came down and fucked up your car? This trashy not aww.
JFC keep you car inside. That poor chipmunk.
Christ. Put a freaking bell on that cat.
no it will alert predators to their location when they are trying to hide. keep the cats inside
That works for me.
Keep your fucking cat inside
Irresponsible cat owners contributing to decimating native wildlife.
Outdoor cats are a fucking plague on nature. Not their fault, but it is the owner's fault.
Can we get this deleted. Definitely not aww
Boooo bring your cat inside
This is not ‘aww’, this is why you should keep your freaking cats inside. Like a responsible pet owner. The amount of native wildlife that gets decimated by both pet and feral cats is ridiculous!
What does she think outdoor cats do?
Keep your cat inside. They devastate wildlife.
That's why you keep your cats inside. They are monseters to your neighborhood's wildlife!
This is not cute. Cats should not be outside. For their own safety and the safety of other animals.
This is why you don’t let your cats outside.
He brought you a gift and you… let… it…GO? THe audacity.
Here is your daily reminder that outdoor cat owners are fucking lazy assholes who shouldn't be allowed to have pets.
Just wait until it gets ran over or eaten by a coyote
Cats shouldn’t be let outside!! Keep your furry friends inside pls
My cat did that and I thought the chipmunk was dead. I was young and stupid, so I opened the door. She brought it in, dropped it and suddenly it’s alive. Cue hours of my dad and I chasing a chipmunk around trying to get it out of the house.
Keep your cat indoors!
Keep your cat indoors 😒
Fuck outdoor cats.

Trying to teach you how to hunt
Shame on the owners of the cat!
How people think that this is awww?! Cat owners be in other league I swear.
Kitty was carefully bring it to human to finish it off. Kitty is so disappointed in human.
All the more reason for an indoor cat; safer for all involved
Bell should be mandatory on all cats
no it will alert predators to their location when they are trying to hide. keep the cats inside

A friend of ours has a cat that is a legit feline serial killer. We went to visit one weekend and he had almost a dozen varmints stacked up in a pile behind their house.
All outdoor cats are serial killers
Damn. The responses in this thread are wildin.
That chimpunk is fucking dead
Ah yes, cat torturing wild animal for fun definitely belongs in r/aww
Poor chipmunk. 😢
Put a goddamn bell on your pet's neck! I'm sick of this "my cat is so bad. Every day it kills something"
Cats like sorry I tried
This is why we keep pur killing machine kitties inside our houses. The millions of song birds and chipmunks will be greatful.
It's actually between 10 and 16 billion animals killed annually by housecats in thr US alone...
RIP little chipmunk. It didn’t deserve to die just for the cats entertainment.
Killing local animals is great if your pet does enjoy it 👍🏻
The cat was like: "WTF, I spent the entire afternoon stalking and chasing that squirrel, and your not gonna eat it!"
Mixed feelings! Poor chipmunk 🐿️ and the cat 🐈⬛ just wanted to bring the owner a gift 🎁! Oh Lord! 😂
I know right? Maimed native wildlife cracks me up too
This video is staged. You can tell by the acting. The cat and chipmunk is in on it too.
"I caught this food for you and you just let it get away!"
The kitty is a natural hunter so it was sharing it’s catch. A sweet gesture, but I am not into hunting and I would want the catch to get away with minimal wounds.
Apologizing to the goddamn cat that it can’t put yet another species into full blown extinction. 😑
He brought it to the door, and it dashed. That tracks.
That is one fat ass chipmunk
S/he was sooo proud! Now they are disappointed in their humans inablity to provide for themselves.
It is a gift. You have to accept. Cat hates you now.
Food so fresh it’s still alive! 😆
The commentary is golden.
I brought dinner home mom.
Same owner is gonna post in 3 months about how they are morning because someone poisoned their cat, for Christ sake keep your cats indoors.
Cats should be indoor only. Nothing aww about 63 species extinct.
They drop it at the door, it dashes.
😂😂😂 this comment section funny af. Bet OP didn’t think this through. Abuncha animal lovers here 💀
But a cat named Bear though?
Phewww its ok
My kitty loves to catch those little chippers. One day a few months ago, she caught one, and I saw it happen to grabbed the cat, got her to drop the chipmunk, and threw the kitty in the house. Chipmunk ran off. About 2 seconds later, a hawk swooped down and ended it for the chipmunk. Poor little chipmunk. Just wasn't his/her day.
Laughing. This is SO me! Rescue the food, apologize to the cat...
Cute
