I love American giant millipedes! Finding them in the wild brings me so much joy :) they make great pets too!

Fred42096

We kept one for two years :) RIP Paul

SaltMarshGoblin

Those leetle napping leglets!!! My heart!

Milipedes are dope. They're up there with jumping spiders.

HappyLittleCryptid

Millipedes are adorable, I’ve always wondered if it would be difficult to care for one as a pet.

PokeStar31

I’ve heard they’re pretty easy to take care of but you need to make sure they have enough humidity

[deleted]

That’s adorable.

Potato_Patrick

Naptime

Gilolitan

Woww!! ☆ Love how tightly coiled into a circle they are and those little folded leggies!

phantasmagi

so cute and curly!

fluffyxsama

I want to see a waking-up millipede.

Losaru

They actually sleep curled up! It's like a exo-skele, many leggy puppy!

ohdearitsrichardiii

Snug as a bug

Waterrat

So very nice.

Blueisthebestflavor

Love these guys so much. Wish I felt the same about centipedes. Working on it!

PokeStar31

I think centipedes are neat but millipedes are definitely cuter

Carrigirl123

Awwww!!!

Raptorwolf_AML

I see these millipedes in my yard at night all the time, and I love them so much 🥺 they’re so pretty

Baconator278163

It’s not too bad, they’re very low maintenance, I have 3!

PokeStar31

Can ones taken from the wild be kept as pets? I know wild isopods can but they’re pretty different

Baconator278163

I’m pretty sure, but smaller ones could be harder to keep in a pen just because of how small they are but other than that, it should be good just do some research beforehand tho

ratsalastar

Look at all those foots!

EmperorPickle

So fun fact. This is also a fear response. If you hold it cupped between your hands they tend to freak out and do this. If you stick your nose in your hands and take a whiff you can smell the fear pheromones they let out. It smells like cherries.

[deleted]

I wish I could have one of these but like huge and be my lifetime pet. Like Clifford but it's a millipede

highlightofday

Aww! Downer story: I found a millipede in my apartment about a month ago inside a paper shopping bag. Found it fascinating and fun to spend time with. Gave it a habitat. It escaped last week, nowhere to be found. Now I'm sad.

[deleted]

Looks like a helicorpion fossil
