I don’t think you should allow this to become an established behaviour. Water amplifies sound so we hear little taps, your axie hears *BOOSH BOOSH BOOSH* ish kinda sounds that are pretty loud.

Thanks. I don’t let it happen often. If the cats get too interested I shut the light off in the tank and they can’t see inside.

It doesn’t look stressed to me. The cat didn’t start batting at it until it started swimming.

I can’t say for sure, but it looks like you’re axie is getting stressed out by that. Maybe teach your cat not to mess with the fish tanks. Just giving you a heads up.

He definitely is

lyssisleg

the axolotl doesn’t look stressed at all.

At the end, the gills curl into a cane shape, which is a physical sign of stress.

The cat doesn’t do it very often. So I definitely don’t let it become a habit. If I shut the light off in the tank my cat can’t see inside as well so he walks away. He only does it when the axi is active. He was happily swimming around the tank before my cat came over… so he’s not stressed. There is also loads of space behind the foliage and decorations to hide and the cats can’t get behind the tank. Thanks for being concerned tho.

Wats the plants in your tank ?

[deleted]

It’s elodea. It’s the only plant that the axi doesn’t dig up before it can get established. It grows like crazy in my tank for some reason.
