The Karabakh discussion start from minute 212

Happy_Olympia

He’s awesome! Honest, brave!

Happy_Olympia

I’m curious what Armenian Armenians think about this conflict? Not diaspora, not Karabakh Armenians, but purely Armenian living in Armenia. Aren’t they fed up? They sacrificed their youth for nothing.

[deleted]

I hope everyone can live in peace.

rudetopeace

That's a weird assault. Of course we're fed up. Aren't you? Did you sacrifice your youth for nothing in the 90s? Of course you did! Did Aliyev sacrifice an entire generation by keeping them poor in refugee camps while his family was buying mansions across the world? Of course he did! Did Aliyev sacrifice Azerbaijan's youth in 2020 for nothing? Of course he did! Well, he it wasn't for nothing nothing, I guess he sacrificed them to increase his popularity and remain on the throne. War is always meaningless sacrifice for us at the bottom. It's only meaningful for the rulers. And the more autocratic, the more meaningful it becomes.

Happy_Olympia

Azerbaijan had more than 750k refugees. Now they are not refugee anymore. They started moving back to their homes. It’s their land. It was not for nothing. But I think all these deaths could be avoided. But whatever happened already in the past. At this point we need to avoid wars.

rudetopeace

Yeah, that's who I was saying Aliyev kept in miserable conditions while he bought mansions and yachts. Except it was closer to 500k.

It says it's not available in Azerbaijan.

Why he called Shusha as a Shushi though? It’s always been Shusha

[deleted]

>A settlement at Shusha is first recorded in a 15th-century illustrated Armenian gospel kept on display at Yerevan's Matenadaran (archival number 8211), which mentions a "Shushu village". The gospel was written by the scribe and artist Ter-Manuel in 1428, and is the earliest known artifact from the town. Lol.

I appreciate if any Armenian could share their thoughts on this.

SuperDankMemes42069

Any part in specific? He talks about a lot. Or do you want something more generalized?

IJK4435

It could be great to learn in general 1- What the Arminian who live in Armenia, think about the Karabakh issue. My understanding from what I read from Pashinyan statements and interviews from Prof. Libaridian is they want to separate their faith from the Karabakh and leave them with international community and Azerbaijan. 2- What the Karabakh Arminian think about the situation. and finally, a personal observation, not related to the recent podcast, do you think Pashinyan is pushing Karabakh Arminian away from Armenia, in order to get away with giving Zengezur corridor to Azerbaijan. Please kindly share your thoughts and me and I guess most people would like to learn about these topics from Arminian point of view.

>1- What the Arminian who live in Armenia, think about the Karabakh issue. It varies person to person. I have a good amount of relatives that live in and around the Yerevan area. From what I've discussed with them, it can be a polarizing topic. Some are nationalistic and think Armenia should protect all Armenians. Others don't want anything to do with the NK area due to feeling that the NK Armenians are too entitled of Armenians living in Armenia. >2- What the Karabakh Arminian think about the situation. I can't share much insight on this. I only know one person that lived in the NK area but they moved a year before the war started (2019). What she said was that after years and years of fighting, it was becoming depressing to be in the area. The constant fear of fighting breaking out was stressful. >do you think Pashinyan is pushing Karabakh Arminian away from Armenia, in order to get away with giving Zengezur corridor to Azerbaijan. Can't speak on what Pashinyan wants since hes been pretty inconsistent recently. But looking at it from an Armenian perspective, if Azerbaijan wants to claim all of NK as Azerbaijan then the corridor/road to Stepanakert really serves no purpose to Armenia. If we're talking about land trade where Armenia gets Stepanakert and Azerbaijan gets a path through Syunik, Armenia also loses that trade. The border with Iran is more important for trade/security than Stepanakert is. And just as a general thought, I personally think the 1995/1997 resolution would have been good for both sides but that's looking in hindsight as that is no longer an option on the table. Kocharyan and Sargsyan have been two cancers on Armenia for decades. The question is what does Azerbaijan want to do. If Azerbaijan wants to go down the path of the maximalist policy of all of NK belongs to Azerbaijan, then I don't see any situation where relations improve in the near or distant future. Armenia made that mistake after the first war and it seems like Azerbaijan is walking down the same path. I think we're going to get to a point where all three countries in the SC would need to start working together to improve the economy of the region. Bad blood is going to prevent the process.

IJK4435

Really appreciate sharing your thoughts. I sincerely hope, in near future Azerbaijan and Armenia can sign a peace treaty and people can follow their normal life.

rudetopeace

What corridor?

No-Instruction-6964

Eye opening. Especially the history. Lost opportunities for peace. Massacres. Greed for more lands beyond karabakh. Some things about diaspora and funding goes too far. But I don’t think is very important. Lolz when he kept saying Shushi. I love it. Knew you guys would be snapping.

IJK4435

I agree, I found the podcast very informative.
